  1. Correct. It competes most closely with the Equinox, although its a bit bigger.
  2. _ Dodge launches new Journey for 2011 Chrysler has just unleashed its latest revamped product, the 2011 Dodge Journey. For 2011 the Journey gets revised suspensions geometry for for improved ride and handling and a more engaging drive. Under the hood, there is the new Pentastar V6 producing 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Perhaps the biggest news and improvement will be found inside, where the Journey receives an all new, vastly improved interior, featring a modern, high tech design. Follow the jump for full details and images. 2011 Dodge Journey Revealed
  3. Wow! That interior looks terrific! Very modern and dynamic. Just like Ford did with the Fusion, it seems Dodge has addressed all of the Journey's shortcomings. I can't wait for road tests and to be able to check one out in person.
  4. Hey Gizhost, long time no see. Don't be a stranger dude!
  5. Unless you want to shell out for new headlights, which are $400-$500 a pair for OEM units, I can't think of a better way.
  6. $14.96 at Amazon. Advance has it for like $21.
  7. What, no Fram???
  8. Waxing will only do so much depending on how severe the oxidation is. I tried it with a spare headlight before. It helped a little, but not anything like this.
  9. You're forgetting the Mazda3 as well. I didn't say non IRS cars can't handle well. Driven a Mustang lately? Hell, the Cobalt SS is one of the best driving FWD cars and its got a twist beam. But lets compare apples to apples for a change. C&G loves to compare Cruzes to Sonata and CTS to Bentleys. Let's try comparing two cars that actually compete with each other. So twist beam compacts...well there's the Corolla, Cobalt, Cruze, Elantra, Forte...none of these, in their normal form, are really passionate to drive. Funny coincidence that the cars which are an on the higher end of the fun to drive scale do have IRS. Speaking of apples to apples, yes the new Jetta may drive ok, and sure it looks alright (if you're into that who looks like an A4 with a plainer looking version of the Scirocco's nose thing). But the key fact is that besides being bigger it isn't objectively a step up from the car it replaces. All in the name of making it a couple grand cheaper (whoopie) so they can whore it out more. It was built to a price not to be the best, and that's why I don't like it. Sounds like old GM. If GM had pulled this stunt with the Cruze they would get crucified for it. The Cruze already gets crucified and its a much better car that the one it replaces, I can only imagine the hate it would get. I know VW still makes good cars, I just posted one. But you have to wonder, based one this car, what's in store for the new, "Americanized" Passat. If you like it, more power to you, although ocn you strike me as someone would would rather have a 3-door Golf. I don't and unless they're some serious upgrades across the board to the GLI, I'm not likely to.
  10. Hey you know what's fun? Comparing cars which don't actually compete with each other. If you wan to do something wacky like actually compare competing vehicles, then you'll find that the 2012 Focus has a multilink rear suspension. Having a steel girder out back may not exactly be sophisticated, but it is a step back from the last gen Jetta. More importantly is the way the car actually drives, and numb steering combined with pronounced body roll does not a "passionate" driver's car make. I'll withhold final judgment until the GLi comes out, but being forced to shell out top dollar for a car that may actually drive well doesn't sound like a screaming bargain to me, which is kind of what VW was attempting to make this cost cut new car. I wish VW wouldn't shaft us and send us over the Scirocco. Then you could have a Corolla that look an A4 and have something that is both passionate to drive as well as look at.
  11. That sucks, not the Jeep's fault though.
  12. The 3M kit is fairly similar, as 3 of the four steps involve using sanding discs. I thought about adding clear coat to it, but opted instead for the Scotchguard...which is a UV protectant that also protects the surfaces from scratches and chips. If It does haze up at all I will redo it and then add clear coat, followed by Scotchguard.
  13. Myself and a friend put a 3M headlight restoration kit I got when I bought my brakes to work today. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Before: After: Before: After: Before: After: Short of buying a brand new headlight these things are as could as you could possibly hope for. The 3M works amazingly. I went a step further and put 3M ScotchGuard on the lens. This will protect it keep it from yellowing again. The driver's side already had it applied a couple years ago and still looks new. 3M rocks!
  14. There is if say, the filter design is insufficient. Oil is only as good as the filter that's keeping it clean. Driving style has nothing to do with how well a filter works, the design and construction of he filter do. You're welcome to use paper media held together by cardboard and glue with poor ant drain back valve design, but I won't. Especially when quality filters like PureOne are often bundled with oil change deals.
  15. A healthy engine will run synthetic just fine no matter the miles. If you're worried about oil damaging it then you have much bigger problems with that engine to worry about.
  16. Forgot about these. Last month I cleaned up the engine bay.
  17. You forgot his other name, whiteknight. Shame shame. Happy B-Day dude!
  18. The 3.5 started out from start, the Ram was switched over. Like I said, synthetic offer superior lubrication to conventional oil. That alone makes it worth it in my book. You cans witch to synthetic at any time. The Prizm has 196k when I switched it and the Intrepid's 3.5 had 125k when I switched.
  19. Synthetic has superior lubricating properties to conventional oil, it also handles high temperatures better and doesn't brake down like conventional oil will. Both cars use Mobil 1, and with the Intrepid in particular, it runs noticeably smoother (especially on cold starts) with M1 and a good filter than conventional and a POS Fram. Comes out much cleaner too. But don't take my word for it: 40k on this one: This engine's got 250k on it.
  20. All filters are not created equal. Do a little a little research and you'll see just how unequal some of them really are. AC Delco Duraguard, STP, Pennzoil, Quaker State, Ecore Champ filters, and any Fram besides the Tough Guard (which I still wouldn't buy) are no where near as good (or even good) as the filters I mentioned in my last post. I care about my car far too much to put substandard parts, fluids, and filters in it.
  21. What part of "only these three" is difficult to understand dudes. Seriously.
  22. What a waste of blood and organs.
  23. Took advantage of the Buy one, get one 50% off promo after I clocked out from work today. All I can say is: Wow! It's almost distracting just how well they work. They completely clear the windshield with no chatter or streaking. Completely silent, and for a brief moment the windshield is 100% water free. Those combined with Rain-X meant on my trip home in the rain on the highway I had the wipers on slowest speed. I'm sold.
  24. Some more good info: http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters/reference.html More proof that Fram makes junk for the most part. I'm sticking with PureOne, Royal Purple, Mobil 1, Bosch, or K&N. Only the best for my cars.
  25. Or just see if you can get a battery for it.
