  1. *sigh* someday GM will learn how to integrate the stereo controls. Still, it's an improvement at least.
  2. I agree totaoally especially the SRT-10 in coupe form
  3. A Shadow 2.2 Turbo...174 horsepower, 210 pound feet of torque That's a lotta power for a small car. You can get it as a coupe, with a 5-speed manual for no more than $1500, and have plenty of money leftoever to modit if you wish (performance exhasut, new wheels, etc.)
  4. That's insane. I mean, I'm glad the G6 is getting a 6-speed, that'll make it more competetive, but Buick and Caddy deserve them too, if not moreso. Also...I don't think the DTS should even exist anyway. The Lucerne is basically the same thing and it looks better.
  5. AH, the good old days, we used to have a sliver Reliant sedan and a white Aries wagon, hell we had a Dodge 600 at one point. Of course this was before we "upgraded" to 2 Shadows (`87 2.2 turbo, `89 2.5, my car) an a Caravan (`86 LE). Yep, my dad never bought new, and only bought Chrysler products.
  6. SOlemmie get this straight: Pontiac get s a 6speed, Saturn gets a 6 speed, but Buick, one off GM's "luxury" brands, get's stuck with a 4-speed? That's pathetic. AT least give the Lucerne the 6-speed
  7. Get an 88 Camaro! God of love that generation's body style. Best looking car of the 80's
  8. Back to GM makinga big mistake...what choice did they have? As edmunds said before the Tahoe debuted GM is "damned if they do, damned if they don't" With gas prices skyrocketing, smaller cars becoming more popular, and increasing critizism of large SUV, the timing couldn't be worse, wspecially while tha Asian brands are introducing smaller, cheaper, fuel efficient cars. This leave GM wide open for critizim that they are out of touch with reality and can't adjust to the market fast enough. On the flip side, the old SUVs were aging fast and needed to be replaced to be competetive, they were due for the redesign. GM would take fire for leaving them alone (a la Cavalier). Plus, GM needs to make money, an SUVs like the Tahoe make big profits, on top of that it's one of the few segements still dominates, and they can't afford to let the Asian brands take that market share too.
  9. I guess you're right. Too bad it's tough to find a Shadow that's not a base model. I don't want a crummy 2.2 without a turbo, unpainted bumpers, no spoiler (Shadows need a spoiler to make them look good, they look bad without it), no CUPHOLDERS, no tach,no A/C and no center console. But alas, that's all I ever see for sale.
  10. lol like me...my car was 400 bucks when my dad bought it 8 years ago
  11. How much are you looking to sped? If enough you could consider a used Cobalt coupe
  12. I hate to see good cars rot away or end up in the scrapheat when they don't derserve it. So...since the car has no title...there is no way to salvage it? I thought that's what salvage titles were for.
  13. http://www.compfused.com/directlink/1335/ "85% of Aries owners have a fixed address." Booya!
  14. poor neon...
  15. Nice! see...isn't that sad?
  16. lol ohyeah? what kind?
  17. Ooo...can you make one with my "awesome" car? I think I like this angle the best This picture is just to show off to anyone hwo cares the damage done by the Oldsmobile that hit me last month...
  18. yo mamas so ugly, when she stuck her head out of the window, she got arrested for indecent exposure
  19. As car ethusiasts, have any of you ever felt bad for a car? Here's my little story: Me and a friend went to this junkyard back in the fall to get a new HVAC control module (or whatever it's called) for my Dodge Shadow cuz the original one overheated. They had a few SHadows there, so that's why we chose that place. Sometime in January the wiring harness connector overheated again, melting the module again, but money has been very tight lately, so we were stuck without heat until last moneth. Last month, some other friends and I went to the same yard to get the same part (plus a new wiring harness, turns out corrosion on the harness caused the meltdown). Some of the Shadows that had been there in the fall were gone, probably crushed, although a Duster and a dark red Shadow were still there. A few new additions were there, including a base Sundance, a Shadow convertible (with only 64k miles on it), and a white Dodge Shadow ES coupe. Most of the cars looked pretty banged up and ready for the junkyard, but the ES stood out from the rest. Whereas the other cars had been picked over for parts, the only things taken from this one was the hood release cable, the cupholder, and the radio. WHat is more striking is that the paint job was great. The paint still had it's glossy finish on it, and the only signs of it's age were a little peeling on the driver's side fender, and a little on the hatch. No rust, one small dent on the other fender, interior was in great shape, smelled like a normal car (not like mold), no stains, newer/nicer style gauges than mine, the optional tach (mine has that too), even had the factory wheels (painted white) and factory ground effects kit. The only options it didn't have were the power locks/doors, and the sunroof. I thought to myself "damn, this thing is in way better shae than my Shadow" (mine has a badly rusted driver's door on the bottom, some rust on the hood lip, some rust on the rear door on the driver's side, a little rust on the oustide of the hatch lip, but a lot of rust on the inside of the lip), dented fender, and faded paint. I kinda laughed at the irony, but at the same time I didn't have the heart to steal parts off it, so I took parts from the other Shadows. SInce then I've been to the junkyard 4 more times: once to get a new headliner (cuz I was sick of my broken/saggy one), 2nd time was to get a power window regulator for my Dad's Shadow, which has power windows and a stripped gear, a 3rd time to get yet another HVAC control module cuz the one I salvaged was broken, and a 4th a new Sunroof for my Dad's Shadow off that Duster. I've mentioned/pointed out to a lot of people how that car doesn't look like it belongs in there, and most agree, since it's in such good shape. When I mentioned this to my gf, she said I should ask how much the car is, and if it's cheap maybe we could get it as a project car. So today after I got my oil changed I called teh junkyard to ask for the pricing of a seatbely latch (that thing that's attached to the belt itself) and how much that white Shadow would cost to buy. To my dismay, he told me it had no title and they couldn't sell me the car. So sadly, it seems that poor car is destined to be picked apart and eventually crushed into bits It really sucks, cuz I would really have liked to have had it to work on. I know it may sound silly to be making a big deal over an old economy car (a 94 actually), and for a while I didn't like Shadows, but when teh car was handed down to me as my first car, I learned that they are pretty fun to drive little cars that are great on gas and have a pretty nice interior. I've always wished mine had a turbo (it has a 2.5) and wider tires like the factory turbos got (as well as a speedo that went to 120, not 85 like mine does), but I still like my little car a lot, and I do my best to take car of it. I thought this white ES would have been a great project car, and one that could be saved from an untimely demise. I guess I was wrong though...
  20. Have you considered buying a car of teh same type as yours that got hit, and swapping the parts? Just a thought. Otherwise, If you are looking for a good used car...what about an Intrepid? Those look nice inside and out, plus if you are into modding I've seen some really tasteful things done to them. A 250 hp V6 isn't bad either...
  21. The simple fact of the matter is that oil companies jack the prices up because they can. Everyone who ones a motor vehicle needs gas to run them, and they depend on it to go about their lives (school, work, etc). Most of the alernatives that were mentioned, save hydrogen, are oil products, so you won't be saving money using the various fuels that come from the same source. Hydrogen power would make a great alternative, but they are still in experimental stages and are far too costly for the general public to be able to afford. Plus, there are no Hydrogen filling stations up yet. Hydrogen is a long way off as far as replacing gasoline. If the oil companies see a big decline in sales after gas prices reach a certain price (such as when people stop making unecessary trips in their cars), and a backlash insues, then perhaps the gas prices will go down a bit. Take last year. The oil companies claimed that the Hurricanes disrupted the oil refineries in that region, causing a "shortage". However I'm sure they simply used that as an excuse to jack up the prices. When gas hit 3 bucks for that brief period, there was a pretty big drop in gasoline sales, as people started only using their cars for the basics. Seeing their precious sales decline, they started lowering the price of gas. They used the Hurricanes as a convenient excuse again, saying that "some of the refineries are working again so we have more oil now" Even though they were still damaged. Now in 2006, the oil companies want to make record profits again, so they are going to raise the price of gas more, under the excuse that the price is only going up due to teh switchover to "summer gas". What remains to be seen is if theirt will be a backlash again when gas hits 3 bucks everwhere, and if it will be big enough to get the oil companies to drop the prices once more. Temperarily of course. That's my theory anyway
  22. Wow...just wow. They looka lot alike from that angle... o_O
  23. That's way too many engine choices. WHy can't they do it like the Nissan Altima? base 4, upper level gets the powerful v6. nice and simple...and i would guess more cost efective. butwhat do i know?
  24. Wait...you like the rear end of the Monte Carlo and the Solara? Yuck! I don't liek the Monte Carlo, but it's rear styling is great next to the droopy Solara's. The Solara looks alright until you get to teh C pillar and the whole thing goes to hell (literally, as it cruves downward).
