Story time. Ok our Dodge Caravan has the prop for the ood. It was parked in teh garage for a while, between our 2 Cudas. The passenger side (the side where teh prop is) was parked so close to one of the Cudas that there was no way to go on that side and prop it. Now, the front of the van was parked right up agaisnt a bunch of other stuff (a Yamaha motorcycle, a spare 2.5 litre engine, a 3-speed auto that goes with it, and a bunch of other stuff). So there was no way to walk around the front to get at it. Now, imagine having to hold the damn heavy hood up while removing the dead battery (which includes loosening the bolts on the terminals), then leifting it out, then putting the "new" one in, and reconnecting it. Sure I had someone else to help hold it up, but this ment 2 people in about the same spot, with about a foot and a half space between the van and the other cuda. CAN YOU SEE WHERE COIL SPRINGS OR STRUTS WOULD HAVE BEEN SUPERIOR IN SUCH A SITUATION?!? So that's my story, and why I hate props, plus they cheapen the feel of the car. FYI i didn't park it there, so don't blame me.

Ouch, that was low

Yeah except that the 300 is domestic. Of course you'll shoot back with "well it's got an E-Class platform" to which I will retalliate: "The LX platformis simply based on the E-Class, it's not a carbon copy, Besides, look how many Ford products use Mazda and Volvo architectures...like the Montego. The Lucerne is all American sure, but it's on an OLD all American platform. ANd GM uses plenty of imported parts for their American cars. So

It wasn't fear, it was time for the Ram's midcycle refresh. There's nothing wrong with being competetive. Also, the new face is only part of the story. Can't fault Dodge for keeping the Ram up to date, unlike a certain other company who has let their Silverado more or less rot until now. I agree and said the new GMT900s will no doubt pull some sales from Dodge and Ford, but it's the imports that will be hit hardest (particularly Toyota). I feel sorta bad for Nissan, unlike Toyota, they didn't half-ass their Titan, and made a REAL truck. They deserve some sales with it.

You gotta learn to RESPECT other people's opinions. If someone tells you "American cars suck" then by all means go Ape $h!. However, bashing a brand just because it's not yours or it's not American, and shoving it down normal people's throats its wrong. You have to realize that GM, is certainly not perfect, so you can hardly go bashing other companies. Even Toyota has made some cool cars (can anyone say Supra?) Nissan makes some awesome cars (Skyline GT-R, the new G35, Altima, the next GT-R) Honda, if nothing else, makes one hell of an interior for the Accord, and the S2000 is kinda cool. Enough examples. My point is that every company has it's virtues, and people will by them because they honestly like them. Don't go insulting people or their cars just becuawe they bought what they liked. How would you like it if the entire site started bashing your G6? It wouldn't be hard. Learn some respect dude, and peopel will like you a lot better. BTW, 208,000 miles as of today with my original engine and tranny

"It has wing, it looks like it can fly" will be a phrase that will hold a special place in my heart

Gotta love my Shadow's coil springs, they never fail (unlike the gas struts for the hatch, which are PoS ) Also, BV got burned

lol -- FYI they did do a test, I think it was Car and Driver, with the 300C, Pontiac Bonneville GXP and the Crown Vic, when the 300 first came out. Granted this is a better comparison.

Yep, the LX cars have been a major hit for Chrysler Group, they're more or less signle-handedly turned around the company (particularly the 300), and continue to sell very well (in back Charger recently had it's best month yet). If the redesigned midsizers are anywhere near as good as these, DCX is gonna be gaining some serious market share. GM and Ford take note: style and performance sell.

they should offer a hardtop for consumers. it looks sweet
-
Dude, you just replaced your transmission, and GM just recalled the SRX, STS, and Saab 9-3. Why are you so ignorant?

how do you know where the best doctors are? i don't live in canda, but your statement was kinda...stupid.

Ford and Dodge are hardlly outdated. Ford still has by farthe nicest interior, and the most towing capacity I think. WIll this change when the new SIlverado hits the streets? Well, maybe, but the Ford's got a damn good interior. As for Dodge? Outdated? Hardly. It's got the sharpest handling of the full sizers, the only one with a NAV system (though the new interior is only OK), it's built well fromw hat I've heard, and it currently has the most powerful V8 in it's class with MDS. If the chevy gets something with more powerful than the 5.7 litre hemi, Dodge has nothing more to do than stick the 6.1 hemi under the hood. As for sales, yes I think the new Sliverado willmake some conquest sales of the F series and the Ram, but not to the point where they "dwindle". We all know domestic truck owners are fiercely loyal to their trucks/brands. I do however, expect plenty of conquest from would-be new Tundra buyers. Cuz that sucker is ugly.

Looks like I'm in 2nd place so far. 207,994 miles on my 89 Dodge SHadow (I just noticed today I'm 6 miles away from 108k o_O ). She runs like a champ too Oh, and to anyone who thinks cars built in he 80's have interiors that fall apart...

With GM's recent search campain to find the longest lasting trucks on the road, but excluding cars and obviously other makes, it left some of us dissapointed. Obviously it's not the same, but I figured why not show off you're car's reliablity to your fellow C & G members? It's fun if nothing else. If at all possible, provide some pics of your car, including of the odometer. This qualifies mainly for cars that still run, and perferable still are owned by you, but if you have a past car with more miles than whatyou currently have, that is acceptible too Enjoy! I'll post my car tomorrow when I can take some pics (kinda dark right now, plus I'm going to bed). Fun idea. Lets see what kinda milage C&Gers have! Added a poll. -Ted

All I can say is good lucking getting the loan to pay for it, you should probably take out a bigger loan to cover the costs of keeping it running too. Especially with no job and all...

Go Chrysler!

I still wish I coulda had that Shadow. Yeah it's just a Shadow, but it was in good shape and woulda made a nice first project car.

Ok, dude...you need your eyes checked. How can a vehicle that is rounded off at every edge look like a vehicle with hard edges? Unless by similar you mean headlights a grill a logo and a bumper, then yes, they are similar.

I really like the look of the 60 Invicta. Those poor cars...it's so sad that they were crushed without a second though.
-
also...it's kinda ugly. like a 3 series sedan that got rear ended, but that's just my opinion
-
Friend of mine's Cavalie got rear ended by a Villager. The minvan was leaking fluides and had a totaled front end...his coupe had a slightly loose bumper and thetop of the exhaust pipe was a bit bend. The bumper had some scratches...but no dents

"As for price...The Impala is a good buy but I think the Avalon is more upscale." I agreed with you I agree, teh Lucerne needs a 5 or 6 speed. So just out of curiousity...have you considered the 300? I think the Touring is supposed to get a 5-speed auto paired with the 250 hp V6 soon. You can get a Nav and all kinds of goodies on it...and you can get real wood trim in it; something you can't get on either the Avalon or the Lucerne.
