Where, Oh Where Did The Pontiac Owners Go?
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in General Motors
I'm 6'1 and at 250 lbs, yet I can get comfortable in most cars. In fact the only car I feel that doesn't have enough seat travel is, ironically, the big Grand Marquis we have. So you must be like 7' to not be able to get comfortable or fit in a car. -
Lincoln Town Car Gets A Second Wind With A Hybrid

This could be great for taxi companies. -
I agree that a done up Tahoe does not a flagship make. If anything is a flagship its the CTS-V. Not only is it bespoke, but, at least when it came out a couple years ago, it was the best in the segment. A true Standard of the World.

Looks like BMW may be looking to expand into yet more markets. Spy Shots: BMW flings M3 pickup around the 'Ring There aren't words to convey just how happy this makes us. With Spring officially licking at the sanctified asphalt of the Nürburgring, testing season has kicked into high gear. Our elite squad of spy photographers has set up camp to take in the action and happened to catch this bizarre beastie obliterating its tires amongst a herd of other BMW mules. As you might expect, there's exactly zero information on the machine other than it looks for all the world to be an M3 pickup.

Where, Oh Where Did The Pontiac Owners Go?

Yeah its a bleak futures. When a compact car looks rides and has features of a larger car and can pull skidpad numbers rivaling sports cars. Life's pretty terrible. If only they still made muscle cars...o-wait. If only they still made trucks...o-wait. GM's four remaining brands are stronger now than the 8 brands it had. GM's product is highly competitive, and Buick, the brand everything thought was dead, even here, is challenging Lexus for top selling luxury brand in the US this year, and with only four (very good) models. Things don't look bad to me. As for the love affair, the masses then and now bought cars for transportation, and those who love cars have always been the smaller group. It's not like in 1962 100% of every car buyer bought it because they were an enthusiast. The love is still here today and plenty strong, its just a specific group of people, like its always been. -
I dunno, if you're having difficulty financing and difficulty getting around in what you have, then I think a good place to start is a car you can buy without a loan, and one that will reliably get you around. A Prizm (or Corolla but they're more expensive) fits the bill perfectly.

8.9-magnitude quake triggers devastating Japan tsunami

I'll wait for final judgmental, but so far it still looks really off proportionately, especially B-pillar back.

Again, I have to ask... did they send that to you out of the blue, or did you have to send them proof? If they did it automagically, I can only assume that in Mass., they can data mine you because the DMV is getting that info at registration renewal time or inspection. In NJ, IIRC, the DMV is not asking for our mileage except at inspection time... no inspection, no data to mine. Even though in theory the data is there to mine for my cars in NJ, I still get advertising for extended warrantee insurance... even though I'm well beyond where they are willing to cover... so even if the data is there, I have to assume NJ isn't coughing it up. I've noticed that Carfax reports are less thorough for mileage in Jersey, too. Just my observations, YMMV. Ah didn't see you ask. I sent them an email with my VIN and Mileage and that I was happy with my vehicle. Been meaning to do it for a while, but a thread about them popped up recently on LHF about them, so it motivated me to contact Chrysler. And lo was it so.

Get a Prizm, cheap, reliable, manuals are easy to find.

Friend of mine is more than halfway there. His 2001 300M had 540,000 miles on it last time I talked to him

Got me thinking, does anyone else do that?

What makes them special? Is it just a torx bolt? That's all I've seen.

Number Of Vehicles In Junkyards Increase
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
It's just one picture in one section of one junkyard. I've been to yards that had late model vehicles from C4C, I've seen cars that still started up and moved (a red 80's Fleetwood comes to mind, very sad), and of course there' yards like the one near me which has all kinds of classic metal rusting away towards the back. -
My birthday present came early! Check it out: Very cool, its really nice too...much thicker metal than the frames you buy at stores. Can't wait to put it on!

Assuming they don't get crushed right away, this is good news for parts hunters, although there are cars in the yards that don't deserve their fate. -
8.9-magnitude quake triggers devastating Japan tsunami

So it appears Unit 1 may be in partial meltdown and Unit 3 at Fukushima Dai-ichi, and Unit 1 has also lost power. Both reactors are now total loss as they try to keep them cool with sea water. Tokai Dai-Ni has lost one of its pumps, although another is still working. -
Small change to the Politics section
Intrepidation replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Site News and Feedback
I guess? People will repost news and link to the source, usually from AB or IL. For example, a thread about the Infiniti Etherea Concept is on its 3rd page, as is the Cruze VS Focus thread I posted. As an aside, I don't think anyone who has ever been to a forum will find our structure confusing or overwhelming. If anything its easier to navigate because everything isn't just lumped together. I don't know about other people, but I usually just default to "View New Content" anyway.
