  1. The looks aren't my cup of tea. Personally it doesn't look like it's worth a grand...but the turbo sounds enticing.
  2. I remember Top gear reviewed the CTS_V they liked the way it handles and the power but, in addition to all the chimes, they noted that it somehow felt cheap...not a quality product. Also it was too big (for a 3-series competitor). SO hopefully the new one addresses the quality (which I think it will), but they need a smaller competitor. A real one, not this handsome but fake car.
  3. Since Camino LS6's thread referred to new cars and some of us have been mentioning used car preferences in that thread I thought this would be a fun thread for the used car shopper in us all. For me: Exterior must be in good shape. I little rust maybe and/or th expected imperfections are fine but the paint must overall be in good shape and still shine. It also can't have any large amounts of body damage bigger than a ding. Engine must be clean. No oil or dirt on the engine. Not only is it a sign of engien problems but also of poor maintenance. The interior must be in good shape, nothing broken and everything must work. It also must attractively designed. Materials are important but as long as the materials seem durable and the armrests, seats and steering wheel are comfortable that's all that matters. Must have a good sound system that has a CD player. One or two minor problems are acceptable but nothing serious or annoying. No ugly colors No ugly exteriors. Make and model are not too important...I prefer Chrysler Corp. products, as does my whole family, but unlike some of us, I'm open to any nice looking, nice driving car. Steering, braking, and pedal must all have good weighting and feel. Suspension must be on the sporty side without being harsh. No marshmellow stuff. I don't want to have to put money into the car as soon as I buy it...unless it's a project car. Light bulbs, and a battery are acceptable, but I'd prefer to have good tires with teh car and no mechanical problems. The Engine must have power to it. It may not have to be a speed demon, but it needs to move with some authority. I would like RWD or AWD but I don't mind FWD...especially if it's done right and the car handles well. Also it has advantages in the snow...should we ever get any. Also I don't care how the engine is mounted

  5. Also, about the coupe and convertible CTS (the whole point of this thread) Cool idea...I just hope the wagon comes out looking good..although it makes the SRX seem a bit redundant. On a couple side notes... They should have just called the GTO the Monaro. Also it shows how stupid the buying public can be. The guys at Top Gear love that car. They weren't crazy for the jellybean looks but were blown away by it's performance. Over here most people are too stupid to like the GTO cuz it doesn't "look like a GTO". I must admit, after seeing what that car can do...I wouldn't mind owning one Don't dis ramen! (although I don't even eat it that much)
  6. These are my thoughts: The DTS should be dropped but only after the STS is redesigned and grows to be a larger size (7-series). The CTS is too big to compete with the 3-series so Cadillac needs a new model under the CTS to compete with it, and have the CTS compete more with the 5-series. I don't know the exact dimensions of the cars but if the current CTS is already bigger than the 3-series and the new one grows it'll be more of a 5-series competitor anyway. The SRX is a fine CUV and I see no need to fix anything now that the interior is fixed. The Escalade is fine too because even if it doesn't get huge respect among traditional luxury buyers, all the rappers and wanna-bes will buy it...it has huge equity. The XLR needs to be redesigned to be more refined and competitive in it's market. Now here are some important points I believe Cadillac needs to follow. There should not be a FWD sedan or other vehicle in the lineup. They may loose some sales when they drop the DTS but they can make up for them if they readjust their lineup as I mentioned, and rely on a 3-series competitor to be a volume leader (like the 3-series itself is for BMW) rather than some old man's car. Pricing should not have to undercut the competitors, it merely has to be in line with them. Instead of trying to be a bargain, they should price them with teh competitors so they can use that extra money to design interiors people in this category expect. Cadillacs have long been criticized for sub-par interiors. And just to make sure...there should NEVER be any BOF cars in Cadillac's lineup.

  10. To those of you who believe humans can't change the global climate...you're completely ignorant or in denial. The amounts of carbon dioxide that our cars and factories give off is far more than the plants can take in and convert to oxygen. Matters are made worse by the huge deforestation that goes on, especially in places like South America. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. It traps heat in...and the more of it there is them more heat gets trapped..hence global warming. The article about cows is quite interesting...but why do so many cows exits? For human consumption primarily...so we're still at fault. There are other factors that contribute to the warmer than normal temperatures we've experienced this winter (not so much El Nino but rather North Atlantic Oscillation and Arctic Oscillation). There are indeed factors that humans are not responsible for, however we are responsible for other factors....and to deny that s just...stupid. I'm no tree hugger...hell I want a V8 in my next car...or a V10...but I at the same time I won't try to be oblivious to our contribution to the changing climate.

  13. So I'm reading the new article on DCX's minivans and I came cross this. But the truth is, the most important thing about the 2008 Chrysler minivans, which are to be unveiled at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, is that they exist at all. The two other more-or-less domestic companies that have produced minivans in the past, General Motors and Ford, have both announced they're ceding the segment to the Japanese, the Koreans and, of course, Chrysler. So I suppose Toyota is more or less American too now right?

  15. Suprised I'm not. Perhaps people should wake up and take notice that the company whose cars they have been buying for their supposed reliability recalled more than they sold.
  16. Rational indeed *cough* Anyway, this is a dumb incentive and is unfortunately showing DCX's desperation. They don't need incentives on The LX cars...they're fine as is...why destroy the resale value. The GC and the Commander need better interiors and tehy'd sell better (well, that and teh COmmander needs to be redesigned to actually seat 7 comfortably).

To call the Quest handsome and even sporty while calling the most inoffensive design horrid make me question your sense of style dude Anyway I just looked at edmunds and saw pics...the exteriors aren't mind blowing, though I think I prefer the Dodge...but the interiors are incredible design and feature wise (and the dashes aren't bad either...that wheel looks nice!) That swiveling chairs and table option is awesome...and best of all...they aren't gray interiors! These are sure to be a home run for DCX. I even like teh fake wood and metal. I wonder how the table stows away?
  18. A riced-out, yellow, previous gen Avalanche. Oh. Your. God. It was hideous! It had a stupid spoiler that looked like it came off a Civic. It was tall and swoopy but narrower (by like a foot) than the tailgate. It made a Ram Daytona look like an elegant piece of artwork.
  19. That's a damn pretty car. i like these gauges better than the coupe's...they look easier to read. The HVAC and stereo controls are cool but I don't see a display for the radio...That means this will no doubt be different in the production version...I wonder if it'll just get the crappy corporate stereo Since the convertible looks so similar to the coupe it may be safe to say the production version (exterior) will look very close to the concepts...sweet!

  21. I think for the moment I prefer the current Grand Caravan's styling to these...but they are lousy press images. As with many DCX products, they may look better in person.
