1992-1997 Panther cars have an automatic parking brake release when put in Drive, it also won't allow the brake to stay engaged while in Drive. I didn't realize it was an actual feature until a few days ago. The "KeyDance" Chryslers, even OBD I Chryslers. I've not about it for a while, but when I first learned about it, and that it worked on older Chrysler, I thought it was pretty neat.

1992-1997 used an automatic tensioner built into the parking brake pedal assembly. Other years use a manual adjuster located where the rear cables meet. The automatic tensioner in this case is worn out or something, as it won't keep the cable taut. If you use the pedal a few times it would get a little more taut but then slacken up again shortly after. I'm not replacing the whole pedal, can't find one anyway. Panthers have pretty lousy parking brakes from what I hear, weird ones too. Up until 2004 they had a vacuum actuator that would release the parking brake automatically when put into drive and won't let it stay down in Drive. Never seen such a setup. Works now though, that's all that matters. -

Well it took a week, but I got the parking brake working properly, it looks clean, and it passed inspection. Turns out there's some sort of automatic tensioner in the pedal assemble or somewhere that wouldn't adjust the tension of the cable and leave a lot of slack. Ended up removing the connector between the front and rear cables and then connecting them with a heavy duty cable u-bolt. Took all the slack out, brakes work well now. In other news, new battery in my car, it has officially awakened from winter slumber. Full detailing planned for Monday. -

It's been known for a while now that there is to be a next gen. The design has even be shown to select people. As far as stability control goes, it is what it is. Hopefully it'll be fully defeatable as a nod to the Viper's past. Can't wait to see it.

Well from that angle at least it looks really good. The storage cubby behind the Nav is very clever.

Oops, you're right, 161 hp was the 3.3, the 3.5 made 214 hp. The 3.5 was and still is a good engine. Buddy of money got more than 400,000 miles on his original one before it gave out.

Yes, its the the same engine. They have different exhaust manifolds, different upper intake manifold, the lower intake manifold doesn't have the guide dowel/pins, and they have different oil pans (LX can hold 6 quarts vs LH which holds 5 quarts). I think the accessories are mounted in different locations as well. Other then that they're pretty much the same second gen LH to LX. First Gen to second gen LH 3.5s share the same block and hard points IIRC, but the 3.5 was significantly engineered. It made like 160 horsepower in the first gens to 250 in the second gens. First year Chargers came with the 3.5 and 5-speed automatic standard, upgrades to everything but the powertrain are easy. 3.5 doesn't have a lot of aftermarket support (trust me, its been researched). However its a good, solid engine with respectable power.

It's actually Dark Garnet Red Pearlcoat, but yeah it has a purple-ish hue.

Hmm, $4k seems a bit steep for a 2.7 SE with some nasty scratches on the lower edge of the rear bumper and no interior photos.I'd probably offer $3,500.

The 200 should be based on a shortened LX platform like the concept was, not a platform mate of the Avenger like it is now, especially if they want to move the brand upmarket.
