  1. The `57 is a beautiful car, especially being the 2-door hardtop that it was. There were many restored (and original) Belvederes of different body styles. The 2-door hardtops are just gorgeous. As for this one, the engine is gone, and so are the the leaf springs, floor plans, and interior, but much of the body is covered in surface rust and dirt...not rusted through. When they wiped the dirt off the bumpers the glistened like mirrors.
  2. Sixty8's got all of the photos, which he'll put on discs tomorrow, from there we'll begin the long task of posting them. As for the Intrepid, it averaged 26 or so mpg...I believe the best tank was 28mpg and the worst was 24mpg.
  3. 4,300 miles and we're back (as of last night after almost non-stop driving)! It was a blast, so many stories to tell, so many things to see (and hundreds of pictures to post), and one very, very dirty Mopar . Full Story and photos coming soon to a thread near you! -I've been everywhere, man-
  4. Now there's a mature comment. Always a one sided argument, but as you mentioned, there are two sides to every story. As usual you've left out anything that involves the US makers being at fault. "Oh poor us! Japan has so many advantages over us and we can't compete!" Their government protects and helps them because their government actually gives a $h! about them. It's not their fault the US government would rather just let the domestics die. And of course we can't forget the utter crap that Detroit spewed out for quite some time. Once more, this all has been debated to death, and once more, there neither Japan Inc. nor the Big 3 can take the full blame for what has happened. It's shared.
  5. Too bad it all got lost in translaton
  6. Ditch the rower and slap a Hemi on it
  7. Crank windows o_O I didn't know those still existed on anything but the cheap cars and minivans...it's supposed to be entry luxury after all! Oh well, she's a clean lookin' car. Best of luck!
  8. Yeah, Yeah.
  9. Chrysler should just used a shorted version of the LX platform and bring us this...and call it the new Sebring: I mean, honestly, how hard is it to screw uo the details. the Sebring is supposed to be inspired by this, so why didn't they copy the front and rear end (especially head and tail light designs).
  10. Well you know, packaging wasn't the forte' of classic car design... I'm not exactly short, so many backseats are less the spacious for me. It is a bit of an exaggeration though, I sat back there once and it was alright. No the back of a Barracuda...that's a tight fit!
  11. Glad you and the car are ok! I had something like that happen once. It was winter 2 years ago, and I had to take my brother to school because he missed the bus. It was very cold that morning. When we pulled away from the house I heard a noise but thought nothing of it. After we get off teh highway and onto the school road. At the intersection stop light I noticed the Shadow's brakes were mush and it had very little stopping power, but just enough to stop at the intersection and park to call for AAA. Good thing I didn't lose them on the highway.

    535i BMW

    Still ugly.
  13. That's mean But since we'll all be stuff in the Buick like a can of sardeens (sp) it doesn't matter.
  14. I know plenty about WWII. I know plenty about the Holocaust, the Third Reich, Suicidal pilots in their Mitsubishi Zeros. But once more, this is in the past. Unlike some I won't hold what happened back then against the society of today. If I went by your rule of thumb, I'd never want or buy anything that came out of Germany, and we can include Opel too for that, or anything that came from Japan. But y`know, America's not perfect either. How many innocent lives were lost because of the atomic bombs? War is not black and white. It's not all bad and good. There's a mix, and many innocent people died. Do not underestimate my knowledge of such things because I am younger than you, and do not think that just because I will get older means my views will become more clouded, and more bias. But hey to each his own. Back to the topic. I guess that time the refrigerator mechanic tried to spin Toyota's 500K recall of the Tundra as a conspiracy by the Domestics made me shake my head. Or that people believe that only the Domestics still use 4-speed automatics...I surprised my coworker when I informed him how several Toyota products still use 4-speeds.
  15. Yet teh Lancer doesn't suffer from this problem.
  16. Well since we're bring up how awesometaskic interiors are, here's the b3st3st of them all
  17. Except Scope doesn't actually do anything besides freshen your breath. Listerine actually kills bacteria (and burns like hell).
  18. Well I've never had the experience of being broken down on the side of the road, so here's going to be a first! (and a second...and a third)
  19. Oh, do tell how it is relevant. It happened, it's been documented, it's in the past...60 or so years in the past. Does it happen today at VW? No you say? Well then in that makes it pretty irrelevant in the present, especially when it comes to car purchasing or brand appeal/loyalty. These sort of things are relevant to know sure, but not in the context you were implying.
  20. I hate these kind of statements. It was law enforcement that gave you stupid ass a "2nd chance" And it's not like she'd be servings years in prison...it's like a month and a half. Stupid bitch.
  21. Yeah I know, I hate that Toyota did that *they did it to the last gen Camry too). But then, I also hate the way the center stack/console in the Aura isn't symmetrical.
  22. I hate it when people bring up past events that are irrelevant today. It's like trying to dig up dirt on GM and Opel from WWII.
