July 2007 Sales: Toyota Motor Corporation
Intrepidation replied to mustang84's topic in 2007 Sales Archive
Almost as much as the Ram! I told you it would catch up before long...imagine how high they will be when it gets to be the Dodge's age! This is the first time I've seen sales down in what seems like forever...that made my day! -
July 2007 Sales: Hyundai Motor America

It's ugly? -
The Sebring is certainly more popular than the old one, and it seems to be even more popular than the Avenger. If only they would offer the 6-speed with the 4-banger standard on Limited models and optional on the others. Dakota sales suck, so do the Durango sales. Crossfire sales are actually way up! Wrangler, Charger, and Caliber are also up for the year. The rest is meh, except the Ram, who sales are flat...which isn't bad considering it's age and the shrinking market.

To fleets? Oh heaven forbid the fleets go without the cheapo model. There's nothing wrong with a "base" model, but when you slap that 2.7L piece of $h! in it there's a problem. The base engien should be the 3.5, which would give it an edge over the other base LX cars and make it seem more premium...which is it's intended mission. Even if you slapped the 4-speed to it and saved the 3.5L/5-speed for the Touring, you still have more power, more value, and most importantly, a better engine. I wish they would have continued to use teh 3.2...I wonder why they stopped using it after it was only used in the LH cars (unless I'm mistaken).

Several years ago, the first owner of the Shadow's 5-year kid somehow got on the roof and jumped n it, cracking the headliner backing in 3 places, leading it to sagging. It got so bad that it was starting to obstruct the rear window. I went to the junkyard last year witha friend and bought one for 20 bucks, carried it in the car, ripped the old one out and put the new one in at the school parking lot! Took about an hour...cost 20 bucks. Of course, that's the beauty of hatchbacks...easy to get the entire headliner in or out without removing a window (which is how I'm guessing they get a brand new one in. Looks great and no sagging!

They've got the overall shape right, if they can get the light shapes and fascias right this'll be one good looking coupe.

Well it offers a Multimidea center that has a HD based Nav system, along with space on teh HD for msic and files, it also offers adaptive Cruise control, excellent sound system, better interior materials than the FWD Gm cars. Tht's fairly sophisticated, especially when most or all of it's competition doesn't offer that stuff for. Also add UConnect, ipod interface, a optional real wood. And of course, it's a proper large, RWD car with optional V8 power. The only real joke is the base model, which should be dropped entirely.

The red picture looks like a chop of a Civic Coupe...but I like it. It looks sporty...how many Toyotas look sporty?

Tank you captain obvious

He decided to put it on Craigslist instead, and then I lost interest after he apparently wanted to sell it for more money or whatever. Plus, I don't want to downgrade. It may be RWD and have a straight 6, but that doesn't make it nicer in my book If the stalling stops now then I'll be happy, and just take care of it like I do already. As long as it lasts long enough for me to save for a 3.2 I'll be happy...of course the longer the better I still love the car after it all...just not the engine in the bay.
-
The fact that his girlfriend is scared of him is just plain wrong...you don't have a healthy relationship when fear is involved, ask say, Saddam.
-
The exact cause of the stalling is still a mystery, but there may be a partial reason. Apparently the clamp that keeps the air intake hose connected to the air filter was not secured...the screw was off. I think it may have been off since January, since that's when the battery was changed...I wasn't there that day but that is the only time I can think of that the air filter box was removed to get at the battery. As for the noise, my normal mechanic listened to it, and thinks it may be early signs of a worn crankshaft bearing...in which case it means that it would be better to replace the engine than try to fix it. That being said, driven sanely (and kept out of Sixty8's hands) it should last several more years...by that time I should have the finances to get a nice new 3.2L for it. The sound is very hard to hear, and he commented that it's the best sounding 2.7 he's ever heard. -- In other news, teh Shadow cooked it's oil today...you could hear it bubbling after the car was off.

I hope he replies before the thread closes...I'd love see a post rationalizing this.
-
I wish they extended it to used cars from say, a generation ago...but then that would be a LOT of 2.7L engines.

Silvester drives like a Madman...even in his crippled LeSabre I've seen him floor it...and we had to remind him more than once not to go overboard in our car. Fly, like I told you before, when you first start the car up cold it takes like 5 minutes to warm up or it will stall when you take your foot off the gas. After that she starts every time and runs great. In my few drives with it I found no problems with the car. I'm sure it's up for a road trip. Speaking of which, how about making a small 5-hour detour up to MA to meet the guy who help on to your baby? :AH-HA_wink: And hey, it'd be a great opportunity to give me those prizes.

Well, the Cobalt can only be used in New England states, the Prizm is plenty drivable but can't be driven because of the tail light and trunk, and I still don't know what's up with the Intrepid...oh and I wouldn't trust the Shadow do make a long trip. If Enterprise will let me take teh Cobalt then we may be able to come down on Saturday...otherwise we won't be seeing ya Fly

Same for me, unless I win the lottery.

Oh it's fixed now is it? Really...hmm then if it's "fixed" why do you suppose it still happens, and why do you suppose mine is suffering from it now? It's not fixed unless they actually own up to it and help the people out who bought cars with the piece of $h! in it not knowing it would sludge itself to death. Even Toyota settled it's sludging engines...the fact that they of all people owned up to it and not Chrysler is just horrible. It's not fixed either because the problem isn't just the ventilation, it's the small oil passages that have 90 degree bends that not only make it difficult for oil to move through it freely but makes it easy for it to clog from sludge. Let's also not forget the idiotic placement of the water pump. It is not old news if it still happens and they have not fixed the problem for owners of these things. Go on ebay and you'll find at least 3 at any given day. There's one down the street that has a blown engine, and a couple on Craigslist in my area. It's not a "small problem"
