I love the FirePower..it makes perfect sense as a flagship model since it's based of existing components and would be a much better cathan the Crossfire (although I like teh Crossfire name better) FYI, this was canceled buy the Germans because they didn't want a car a fraction of the cost of the SLR to be able to beat it...when it could. In fact the were already prototypes undergoing testing for limited production when it was canceled. As for the Charger itself...in the end I like the one we got better...it's muscular and menacing in the way the concept wasn't...but the concept is a very handsome car. What the concept car has over the production model is interior design. Even today it looks modern and fresh..I would love to have seen it in the production Charger. In fact, Chrysler can build beautiful concept interiors that looks production ready and not pie-in-the-sky...I just wish they'd make it to production.

IMO your brain is broken if you think they should Dump the Caravan, the founder of the minivan segment which sells more than the T & C by the way. PT should be redesigned...but if Chrysler actually moves upmarket than maybe not. Caliber's looks are merely opinion. It sells reasonably well and is currently the entry vehicle with which to attract first time buyers. Dropping out of the small car segment would be a stupid move. Sebring's interior is not all plastic if you actually spent time in one....but it's not good enough, neither is the exterior. The other 2 I'll agree with. Kill: Aspen Compass Crossfire Commander By the way, the Sprinter is better equipped, more efficient and safer than Ford's or GM's offerings...it just lacks towing abilities. Nitro should be unibody with road manners in mind.

I guess I'll do another post XD I hope they don't wait until the next gen to upgrade the Caliber's powertrain. I think the 2.0 and 2.4 are fine engines that make reasonable power, but the CVT needs to go...only Nissan has any real success with them and even then a lot of people don't like them. It robs the engines of their power and feels very unnatural. I think the 2.0 should get a 4-speed and the 2.4 should get a 6-speed. I would drop the 1.8 all together as I think it's too weak and bussy for anything besides fleet-only.

It's hard to make something as bland as an airliner ugly but if anyone can do it, apparently Airbus can!

This thread has gotten to the point where any sense of logic is gone with the wind and has now been replaced with either bias, insults, or general stupidity. My final post on this thread is this: GM is undoubtedly in the best shape of the Big 3. The truth is in the numbers and considering it's posted gains lately, combined with products that are steadily improving, shows this. GM also, for the most part, knows how to act quickly when they need to, and how to make use of their global resources. Look at how fast Saturn was turned around, and look at how they managed to get a hold of Zeta. Ford is deeper in the sh*t than anyone. It has no idea what to do with its brands, there's way too much overlap, far more than at Chrysler or GM. It has global resources that produce excellent vehicles, yet can't seem to figure out how to make use of them. It could do to Mercury with Ford Europe what GM did to Saturn with Opel...but it doesn't. It has ancient platforms, vehicles that have been left to rot in the market, pointless vehicles, many vehicles that have uncompetitive powertrains, and no real sesne of what to do besides rename a few vehicles. They have no clear plan and nothing drastic seems to be happening. Meanwhile they hide in their denial, believe Mercury, for example, is doing great as it is. Chrysler has a lot of problems...from vehicle overlap to mostly lousy interiors to uncompetitive powertrains that shouldn't exist anymore (2.7, 1.8 ), to Chrysler brand's identity crisis. However, Chrysler is in But Chrysler isn't as stupid as many of you believe. The interiors have been cheap for the most part, but what other company makes such clever use of the available space? Not only that, but build quality is generally very good. All they need to do is improve their general design and overall materials and the interior would be much better. It may already be starting to happen, as good things have been said about the materials in the Journey. at the same time, we know Chrysler is working on a new family of V6 engines that will be more powerful and more fuel efficient. The other thing is that we know things are going on at Chrysler, we know changes are being made and things are going to happen. How well they will work is anyone's guess, but at least something is happening unlike at Ford. If they can figure what what to do with Chrysler brand and make the improvements they need to, they can pull out of this. One more thing...look at Chrysler's losses compared to Ford's...and some of you think Ford is in better shape? I'd love to know what you're smoking. And with that, I'll just read and enjoy the muds slinging for the remainder of this thread...you know...unless we actually can have an intelligent discussion.

Between W-body and Delta the choice is obvious...go for the Cobalt.

Nice ad, that sounds like a fun job to do, as opposed to dealing with customers in person.
-
This is what it claims to do: I was thinking of trying it, but I wanted to know if any of you have tried it or know if it's any good or not. I've seen mixed reviews...most seem postive but a few negatives...so is it any good or just a load of crap?

The Aspen does not belong in the Chrysler lineup, pure and simple. Take the chrome bits, the nicer interior, and maybe the tail lights and put them on the Durango...then discontinue the Aspen. That will help bring the Durango up to par.

I lived with the car for 2 months so I got to know it pretty well. It's a good car overall. The interior is cheap with some build quality issues, but it doesn't rattle. Folding seat releases are in the trunk within easy reach, but the seats themselves don't fold totally flat. The steering wheel is nicely shaped and sized, the power delivery is good and brakes are great with good modulation. The steering does feel a bit artificial though. Gas mileage is decent on the highway but not that great in the city. Back seat is cramped unless you move the front seats half way forward (I'm 6'1"). Nice features like 1-touch wipers, information center, auto lights. Rock solid on the highway even at 100 mph. Basically, if you can live with the cheap interior and less than spectacular fuel economy it's a good choice. That being said, shopping around for other compacts isn't a bad idea either...you know, unless you're totally bias against anything besides GM. My average mpg was 18/30...lowest was 16.8 and highest was 32.2, with overall average being 24.5

I think Chrysler should move upmarket and begin to be the premium brand it used to be. It should be Chrysler LLC's Cadillac. Dodge is for the everyman and Jeep is for SUV/Offroad lovers. You could even Toy with the idea of bring plymouth back so you could continue to build the PT Cruiser (but redesigned) something like the Pacifica, a compact sedan, and maybe a compact CUV. If you did that then it would eliminate overlap between Dodge and Chrysler. As it stands there's not enough to differentiate the two brands and they compete with each other on the same level. I would like Chrysler to keep it's names like 300, Sebring, Imperial and so on...as it would be nice to see a luxury brand with real names and that's proud of it's heritage. Just a thought.

It is in the sense that it is an example of that type of advertising and the one that came to mind quickly for an example. I don't know if it would be slaughtered...I think the Accord would beat it handily in the interior department but looks wise I don't think teh sedan is much of a looker...the Camry is nothing special inside or out...edmunds even admited that the Malibu's interior materials are bested only by the Accord. Maybe not compare teh Accord but I think comparing the Camry would be fair.
-
That is very sad. It also furthers my belief that many bus drivers are horrible drivers.
-
Man the site was messed up for liek a half hour this morning where nothing would load.

Why use the Camry or Accord? It's called Direct Advertising. Pepsi uses this type of advertising to great effect. They target the more popular opponent, as is how that type of advertising works. The Camry and Accord have long been associated with bland/forgettable/blend-in-with-the-crows styling. Chevy should go after them saying that the Malibu doesn't blend in and isn't anonymous, and that you may actually pay attention to it's design. Then you could use the same idea for the commercials and they would be far more effective than using a rebadged Malibu. Also...I don't feel they chose the right person for the dialogue...it just doesn't seem to fit.

It would be nice to see the Atlas put to use. Anyway, it's nice to finally see a prototype with production body panels on it...looks great.

Happened 4 times so far this morning. We need a host that doesn't suck or something.
-
Way to make fun of he old Malibu (I know it's an Olds). It might be more effective it that was a Camry instead...otherwise these are kind of lame.

I think the Challenger starts wit the same powertrains as the Charger did when it started... 3.5 v6, 5.7 v8, 6.1 v8. however Chrysler is in the process of updating it's engine lineup...so I expect to the Phoenix V6 to replace the 3.5 eventually, an the updated Hemis to come in when they are available.

Oh man, sorry to hear that! He loved that car if I remember right, it was in great shape too Is he ok?

First: Reg, shut it...I don't have the patience to spoon feed you answers. Second...I see the need to cut models but I question some of the possible nominations. Dakota? What product does that overlap exactly in the Chrysler lineup? It would be a move as stupid as Ford's or GM's to walk away from a segment. Durango...there is a place for a traditional SUV...anyway why would you nominate it and not the Aspen? That makes no sense in Chrysler's lineup. It does need a redesign or something though. Pacifica...it should be redesigned to better compete with the Lambdas...you don't just walk away from the fastest growing segment. Commander...there is, unfortunately, no place for it...at least it was a real Jeep Compass...get rid of it...it was a mistake from the beginning and whoever thought it up should be fired. Sebring...extreme makeover yes...but don't walk away from the very competitive midsize segment...unless the actually place to move Chrysler upmarket. Crossfire...it still looks good I think but is an underachiever everywhere else...it should be discontinued...redesign it why Chrysler is making profits again maybe FYI: Chery is not going to be designing a B-segment car for Chrysler...they no longer want to have it made in or by China.

Can you guess what I love?
