Jaguar News: Rumorpile: Jaguar To Offer Hotter XF?
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Jaguar
I'd buy just because it isn't ugly like a BMW or Mercedes. However I'd prefer the SF Supercharged over something so hardcore. -

Dodge News: Rumorpile: Dodge Dart To Get SRT-ified
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
Oh really? In 4 years you guys will be comparing the Dart unfavorably with its replacement and calling it a POS. No thanks. Pontiac should have stayed Firebird-GTO-Solstice-G8... (and marketed properly)... these will be remembered fondly 20 years later... which is like Dodge with only the Viper, Charger and Challenger. -
Proof that people are incapable of driving in snow, period
Intrepidation replied to Blake Noble's topic in The Lounge
Well as long as their isn't ice under the snow the tires get traction. I use the engine braking to creep down the hill (1st or second gear in the Prizm) L1 or L2 (first or second gear) in the automatic cars. Using the engine to brake and keep the car going slow reduces the chance of sliding VS using the brakes, and when you use the brakes you use them gently, leave lots of space between you and any vehicle in front of you, and plan accordingly. -
Proof that people are incapable of driving in snow, period
Intrepidation replied to Blake Noble's topic in The Lounge
Well if its just snow, good all season tires, or better yet, snow tires and common sense are all you need. I drove through the big snow store we had in October that dumped 27 inches of snow during the height of the storm. Roads were covered ins now, from the highways to the main roads. We took my car with it's 245/45ZR18 tires. We traveled about 40 miles total. Why? Because I we felt like it. I wanted to do the week's grocery shopping in Fitchburg because I like that city's store better than the one near my house. Sure, what would normally be a half hour trip each was took over an hour, but the car never slepped or slid. I took my time and enjoyed the snow. The key is taking your time//usuingc ommons ense and having good tires. Those tires are Michelin Pilot Aplines and they are awesome in the snow. The Prizm isn't quite as planted to the ground with its Bridgestone Insignia all season tires, but they still do a good job and I had no problem driving to work the other day. Even though we only had a few inches of snow, none of the roads or even the highway were plowed, so that was mostly covered in snow. However if there was ice under the snow on that road then it would be very difficult for any vehicle short of one with studded tires or chains to keep control. Either way those wing nuts in the videos were going far too fast. -
Chrysler News: Chrysler Reveals Future Plans, Avenger To Live On
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
Makes sense to keep the Avenger around. Avenger can compete with the likes of the Fusion/Malibu/Sonata and the 200 can go after the ES/LaCrosse group. As far as the Jeeps go, we'll see. Marchionne has yet to disappoint though. -
Oppose Internet Blacklisting, SOPA & PIPA
Intrepidation replied to Intrepidation's topic in The Lounge
It looks like the message may have gotten through to the thick skulls of those in Washington. The people and websites who flexed their muscles and took a stand against SOPA and PIPA should give themselves a brief pat on the back. http://news.yahoo.com/blackouts-whats-next-sopa-155000746.html -
I always liked the concept of it, really it even looks fine until the back, but that was par for the course for Renaults of the era.

Industry News: Study Shows the Median Age of Cars is Up
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Would love to buy a new car (in addition to what I own now) but that's not in the cars for some time. With that said I love my 11 year old car and still get compliments on its condition, I'm not in a huge hurry. -
Funny thing is I wasn't referring to the editorial, I just saw the comment and had to requote it, because quite frankly, it gets old when every new car that comes out "looks like this this and this" Yes the 500 looks just like an International LoneStar in the same way a Cesna 172 looks just like a B-52 Stratofortress. My response wasn't directed at you (I didn't even read the batmobile part), just in general. No offense intended to it. Just a personal pet peeve of mine.

I seem to recall you had a vandetta against both Pontiac and Holden, and that you hated the fact that the Commedore was badged as aPontiac (despite being the best thing ever given to Pontiac).

No, I will not call the platform large and archaic given the fact it was size of a 5er, extremely flexible and lighter compared to the recent 5er being churned out. GM never let the platform blossom to its full capacity. Camino, I will not make Alpha and Zeta and future Omega mutually exclusive just because the nomenclatures are different. Knowledge from Zeta is being definitely used in the other two. Actually Z06, Zeta was was the polar opposite: it wasn't flexible, ir was heavy, and it was expensive. Which is where Alpha comes in. -
Industry News: 95% Of Trips Can Be Made In A Electric Vehicle
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
The only thing wrong with their findings is that it tells us what we already know and was a waste of their time, but its certainly correct. Most people's daily commutes are less than the range of a modern electric vehicle. With that said, a plug-in hybrid like teh Volt or Fusion Energi would be ideal, since you'd use it in electric mode 05% of the time, but when you wanted to go on a tril, simply fill it with gas and go. Personally, I'ms till waiting for Hydrogen powered vehicles to take off. That would truely be ideal. -

If they did that, then they would have failed their course. Of course, since Columbia is a 'leftist nazi' institution of immense pedigree, the school was totally willing to turn such a horribly skewed result into propaganda so they can socially engineer us into 'leftist nazi' sympathizers!! You're retarded!! Fixed, I know it was sarcasm but for comment as asinine as that I feel parties involved may take "genius" seriously. -

Except if we go by that logic so is Holden. recall that the exchange rate between AU and the US made an unfavorable business case for importing the Commedore, Ute, Estate, etc. -

GM builds cars to sell to more than 6 people. That's where the money is. GM should be and is focusing its efforts on the segments that matter to the bottom line, and to building cars the vast majority of people will want and buy first and formost. Time enough for niche cars when the core lineup is all up to par.
