Judging by the sounds of it, it's little surprise you dad wasn't getting a trade in offer he wanted. Regardless whether your keep it or sell it, getting things fixed up should definitely be done. A `02 in good shape will go for pretty good money (especially a 4WD Club or Quad Cab). Quick scan in my local CL shows them anywhere from 4-12 grand. On the flip side one that needs work goes for as little as $900.

Industry News: Fisker Learns To Surf In Paris
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Not a big fan of the Surf, I hope the Karma S gets put into production though. As for space in the sedan, I'm perfectly ok with function taking a back seat to form. It almost never happens anymore with cars being all about interior volume and practicality. -
Chevrolet News:SPIED: Chevy's smallest EV drops its CAMO!
Intrepidation replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
"I say Perseus old boy, do you have you heard about that new horseless carriage?" "Why yes Batholomew , I hear it runs on some unheard of principle called internal combustion. They said it will replace the horse as mainstream transportation." "Internal combustion you say? In what manner does it operate?" "Well good sir, it is said that a machine used to convert energy into useful mechanical motion. This "internal combustion engine" is an engine in which the combustion of a petroleum-based fuel known as gasoline occurs with oxygen. the expansion of the high-temperature and high -pressure gases produced by combustion apply direct force to some component of the engine. This force is applied typically to what are being called pistons. This force moves the component over a distance, transforming chemical energy into useful mechanical energy." "And this shall replace the horse as humankind's preferred mode of transportation?" "Why yes, so it is being touted." "Poppycock. What a preposterous idea!" Hmm...yes, quite. Let us engage in laughter. "Splendid idea old boy." -

Mileage has little bearing on the condition of a car. How it was taken car of does. Your fixation on "low mileage" is what's holding you back. If the 300M, for example, had its timing belt and waterpump replaced withing the last 50k miles it'll be good for another 58k. That's the only major component those cars generally need at that age.

Hondas hold their value.

Other publications are reporting this is an all new model, that it's larger, and that it's Alpha based.

Does ATS stand for Alpha Touring Sedan?

So are we looking for alternative names, the meaning of, or just watch vehicles the names belong to?

Porsche News: New Porsche Macan Driving Us Crazy

Hah, that road was featured on Top Gear. -
I always like that generation Bonneville's exterior, especially sans the ribs.
-
Can't wait to see it.

Yes it does.

If you have no passion for individual auto's then why be on this board as a moderator or writer? Clearly you would do well with the tree huggers in Portland and the Seirra club. My so called Monster Truck can do far more than anything green or an apple I-Thing. Try going off road, getting over broken roads with no damage, rescuing people in idiot Nissan Leafs or Prius who go up on the pass and get messed up and complain as to why they should have to deal with snow. I could bitch and go on and on, but I will agree to disagree with you as most of your comments seem to be anti Auto's. Clearly you have no concept of satire.

The water pump has something called a weep hole, which is designed to leak coolant out when the pump begins to fail so (theoretically) you can see the coolant leak and more easily determine the problem.

Chicago 2012: 2013 GMC Acadia: Comments
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Chicago Auto Show (CAS)
I like it, it where's the new nose better than the Granite ever has. Interior looks like a nice upgrade too. -
that's it right there. 'always get a ride'. at some point, the job you will need to take will not have transit, and all your other relatives and friends will be busy tending to their own responsibilities and will be worlds away. Yes, but that's usually not an issue until at least after high school. In fact, some of my high school friends still don't have a car. I was the first and for a while the only one among us to get my license and buy a car. Balthy's son's response is proof enough that the article holds water. Kids may not hate cars but the certainly don't want them like they used to.

I know lots of people who live in Boston or commute to or from Boston. My boss for example, commutes an hour and a half from there. He'd much rather take the train but unfortunately the network stops about a half hour from where work is. From that point on its freight line. He wants a G37 in the future but not while he lives in Boston, it would get dinged up in no time. I've driven there, I hate it. Hate it. I'd much rather take the train. Of course there's plenty of people who need to have a car, but that's need not so much want. Most buyers probably don't buy a Camry because they dying to own one. Even the cheapest piece of crap Versa is more than $10,000. No sane person aspires to own one, certainly not teens. Not only that, even being a band new car there's the costs of maintaining and insuring it associated. I don't know about you but when I was 16 I didn't have 10 grand handy. As well, not everyone in cities have places to store cars beyond public roads, which as I mentioned before, will likely get them dinged up. Going the used route is an option, but there again you have the costs of insuring and maintenance, plus the costs of repairs the car will need at some point. The amount of people who put off important repairs on their cars or do it with the cheapest, lowest quality parts is startling, but its because often times they can't afford it. Also, as the article mentions, kids are still interested in cars, but those are dream cars like 911's not Cruzes. By and large as a 21 year or or evena n 18 year old is going to be more mature and have a greater sense of responsiblity (and a job) than a 16 year old. Honestly, I didn't get my license until I was 18, and didn't get my first car until I was20. Couldn't afford it before then, much as I wanted to. Dude I only wish, although I would add that the tests should be much harder to pass in the first place. Any dumbass can get a license now. -- We're different. We're enthusiasts and love cars. I love my car and the freedom to go anywhere with it (just not the time or spare money for gas to do so!) But enthusiasts have always been out numbed by people who just view them as appliances. Now just more of those younger people are seeing less of a need to want to own one.

It's not dumbed down. I don't know if anyone here has noticed lately. but the economy isn't in great shape. Especially if you don't need a car, it makes perfect sense not to take on the financial responsibility of owning one. From payments, to insurance, to maintenance. It costs a lot of money to have a car, and if you live in an era where public transit is a viable option, there's not a real need for it. Plus, it works well for those of us to do enjoy our cars. Remember that statistics show that 16-18 year olds have the highest accident rate of any rage group. Having less of them on the road is just fine by me.

Chrysler News: Spying: Chrysler 100 Hatchback
Intrepidation replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
A good strategy. It's basically what GM is doing with Buick, which has been working pretty well. Plus, if its using a different body style than the Dart so it'll help further differentiate it. -
I was hoping to find track day pictures at Leguna Seca. I don't think its possible to be more disappointed than I am.
