  1. What I find most interesting about this monstrosity is that the interior is surprisingly restrained.
  2. If it were $200 I would strongly consider the possibility of definitely thinking about the idea of maybe buying it.
  3. Hope he's alright as well.
  4. I'm surprised it isn't just an engine with a pile of rust around it. LOL 5 grand...
  5. They're hardly the worst out there. Contrary, besides the Jetta and new Passat their interiors are some of the best built and finished in their classes. However, with regards to the article.... "Volkswagen is standing behind them, stating that interior quality hasn't been compromised."
  6. I agree - these are hideously fugly - and the people who drive them are crack. You're so much in the minority you've resorted to talking to yourself. That's almost as funny as it is pathetic.
  7. It's used to seal cracks and keep moisture out of the road and thereby helping prevent potholes. It's pretty low tech though. Apparently per mile it costs $25,000 dollars to treat the road with that stuff VS $350,000 per mile to repave with asphalt and that's why they're doing it. I question how durable it is. You know, after the cure period where it pings cars relentlessly.
  8. Change the oil, spark plug, air filter, and sharpen/balance the blade once a year is a good schedule. It's just like a car, i needs to be cared for to keep it going well. Of course at least you clean the deck off. Rotting grass will release acid that will in turn eat away the paint and rust out the deck. Unless of course, you have an aluminum deck or compsoite, then rust isn't an issue.
  9. Front Wheel Drive For The Win. Clever girl...
  10. I really like the way it looks, at least based on the initial photo. I like it better than the Encore. I understand why they don't want to sell both here, its just a shame that Chevy's got the better looking one it appears, and the one we won't get.
  11. It's going pretty well! I made $280 Tuesday, and another $45 Thursday on a service. It's not steady but it is nice side income, and is going towards my a/c components. I had started posting my progress in a thread, but I figured no one cared so I stopped on this site.
  12. He wanted it looked at. I've sent him a message letting him know the problem, what it will cost to fix, and photos of the damage.
  13. The first two Tecumseh engines I dealt with were on a couple of cheap old mowers. One had a rotted out deck and the other needed to be repainted. Both looked rough but they both started up without needing any carburetor work, despite the obvious lack of care. At that point I wondered what all the fuss was about. I've worked on enough of them now to see the naivety of that thinking. So far I've only had issues with on B&S carburetor, off a Quantum engine. No matter how much I cleaned it, it wouldn't start on the first pull. It would always take 4 pulls. After it warmed up it would start first pull, and it ran great, so I gave up on it. I like the newer tank mounted carburetors B&S uses. They're made of some kind of plastic. Which means they get dirty but they don't corrode.
  14. They are known for their finicky carburetors.
  15. I've worked on Tecumseh mowers left out in the elements for some time, (4 years with one) this is by far the worst. Of course, there's a reason why Tecumseh went bust. People don't care for their lawn equipment. It's why decks rust out and engines stop working.
  16. Or try to run your lawn mower using seawater. It's the only explanation I can come up with for what you're about to see. For reference, this is what a Tecumseh what a typical carburetor looks like: This is a carburetor I worked on last week. The gas in it was sold old it had evaporated and left corrosive, nasty varnish. This was the worst carburetor I've worked on. And then this came along. All I could say was: The customer had bought it last year from me. At the time the carburetor was in the the condition of the firs image. Perfectly fine. He told me at some point last year he had to hold the governor to get it to start and then it eventually wouldn't start at all. Well here's yer problem. Thing is even with water in the gas there's no way that should have happened, especially in less than a year.
  17. Chronicling the Death of a Car Have you ever stopped and thought about what a car goes through at the end of its life? It's a very sad and to be honest very brutal fate that awaits a vehicle that provided its owners years of service, usually asking little in return. To most people a car is nothing more than an appliance, something that is merely cast away like an cell phone. To car enthusiasts however, who think of a car as more than the sum of its parts, a machine which can have passion and soul, and something that is part of your family, the following may be difficult to read. Car and Driver recently sent a tired, old BMW 325i to meet it fate, likening the wrecker to a slaughterhouse. It's a very well-written article, and its hard not to feel bad for the poor old E36. At the end of the article, pause for a moment and think about the car that's in your driveway now. Perhaps its time to give it a nice wash, an oil change, an interior detailing, a drive to nowhere in particular, or maybe a C&D suggests, a hug. http://www.caranddriver.com/features/what-happens-when-a-car-dies-we-send-a-3-series-to-the-shredder-to-find-out-feature
  18. This is blasphemy, this is madness! I bet t has a 2.7.
  19. It's a manual that can do more than just sit in the glove box and be manual while also being a hot consumer item. I mean even older people own iPads and can operate them. I think its a nice add-on to accompany it that probably won't send a lot of time sitting in the car.
  20. That's is pretty funny, although I haven't heard any widespread issues about Equuis owners losing their iPads to theft.
  21. Have you seen a BMW lately? You need a psychics degree to adjust the volume on one of those. But that's thing: luxury cars are all about technology and electronics integration these days. Its what most people want, for better or worse.
