  1. Well, more like the use of better build quality, engines designed specifically for turbocharging, and of course the big one: intercoolers.
  2. People just liked it better that way
  3. This name saturation leads to made up names (Camry) or utterly stupid ones (Wind). There's something to be said for sticking with a nameplate, especially a good one (Mustang, Impala).
  4. I'm surprised you find superchargers more reliable, since they have far fewer applications than turbochargers. Of course I do enjoy that supercharger whine. Nothing against them.
  5. Don't even get started on Ferrari 458's catching fire. Could there be a problem with the S? That's entirely possible, does it mean every electric car ever made before, now, or since is a fireball waiting to happen? No, but that's what the haters would love everyone to think while conveniently ignoring the very real danger that lives in a tank in their car. This is like that frenzy over the Volt because one caught fire several weeks after being crash tested. People went crazy wondering if BATTERIZ R T3H SAIF?! (while browsing this news from their battery powered mobile devices). Does it mean THE END IS NIGH for Tesla because of one fire? It didn't kill Ford that one time. Or that other time. They are no doubt looking into the cause of the fire as we speak.
  6. That math seems legit.
  7. So you're basing your impression of turbocharger quality on an 80's Mustang? Quality and the 80's go together like the Titanic and an iceberg.
  8. That's cute. Because vehicles carrying a payload of highly flammable fluids never catch fire. Those last two links are especially incredible when you consider that they are related to electrical problems. In a GASOLINE powered vehicle you say? Clearly this is witchcraft and we should go back to horse drawn carriages.
  9. It may have a column shift, but at least its mechanical and not electric like what the GL uses, which is utterly pointless. I personally like console shifter but do see the appeal of freed up space. Its nice to see that it finally gets its own steering wheel, no longer sharing it with the Tahoe.
  10. The highest known mileage on a Saab was recorded by a guy named Peter Gilbert, from Wisconsin in the US. Peter’s 1989 Saab 900 SPG ticked over 1 million miles at the Saab Owners Convention held in the US back in 2006 with then-SaabUSA President Jay Spenchian in attendance. That car is now in the Wisconsin Automotive Museum. And if this was an easy repeatable thing for Turbo's we would have plenty of them still around today. One is awesome and great but does not instill in me the long term life of a small turbo engine compared to my pushrod V8 or V6 engines. Clearly you know very little about turbochargers. There are many, many high mileage turbocharged vehicles, especially Saabs, since most Saabs were turbocharged anyway. While I could waste my afternoon hunting down links of various high mileage vehicle, you can use your own time educating yourself. Like any vehicle, you just have to take care of it.
  11. Easily the best looking SUV interior.
  12. The highest known mileage on a Saab was recorded by a guy named Peter Gilbert, from Wisconsin in the US. 13. The numbers I listed were from non turbo automatic/DSG models.
  14. Thing about the Sonic is fuel economy isn't impressive. The Sonic is averaging 28.6 while the Focus is averaging 34.8 in the same conditions.
  15. You don't need to do all that. I always just copy and paste the URL of the video's page, hit reply, and enjoy. The board's software automatically embeds the video. Works fine on Chrome and Firefox.
  16. I dunno, I don't think these are particularly depressing, quite the opposite.
  17. Well I don't think its any sort of drives car, but it looks much better than the Yars, , or Vera, and comes with a lot of features for good value. However, I'd rather have its better looking corporate cousin, the Rio, given the choice. There's also the Fit, which is the king of clever packaging, but for me the Sonic RS or Fiesta ST would be the way to go.
  18. I'd love to have it as a feature that can be turned on and off. I mean, what sane person hope on the highway for their hour long commute through heave traffic and thinks, "Oh hell, yes, I love doing this same , menial task every single day!" Or better yet, when you get tired on a long road trip, you can just let he car take over and catch some rest, rather than pulling off to sleep, making the trip longer, or keep driving while tired, increasing the risk of an accident. Perhaps they could have built in breathalyzer, if you're over the legal limit, the car can just drive you home.
  19. Well that was "fun" Bushings were pretty shot actually, had to adjust the rack with one wheel disconnected to get the tie rods to cline up correctly again. Have to wait until Friday to get the alignment redone >:/ Since I had them apart, I repainted the strut brace and cowl bolts and screws.
  20. Let me rephrase that, either Sonic RS or Fiesta ST.
  21. Sonic or Fiesta is I had to purchase in this segment.
  22. Pity that no one makes any sort of aftermarket tail lights for Dodge Intrepids. All I want are jeweled versions of the OEMs, but oh well. I see the site has prefit headlight lens covers though, which is cool.
  23. Yep, its amazing the difference clean/new lenses make. Had the car inspected and aligned this morning. Shop says there's about 5/16 play in the front end from the tie rod bushings, so I'll be replacing them after lunch.
  24. I can't believe someone would willingly walk into a Nissan dealership, look at a Versa and say, "Yep, I'd like to pay money for that."
  25. It's like asking which is less terrible: being punched in the crotch or being hit in the face with a 2x4. All day. For the rest of your life.
