  1. I think we can all agree that whether you believe in climate change or not, what we do does have an impact on our surroundings, and at the very least we can do things about it, such as recycling, conserving, using energy efficient products and so on. On a larger scale we need to put an end to the hacking apart of the rain forests and finding ways to ring in the emissions of factories here and abroad, especially from countries like China.
  2. Oh $h!
  3. I would say those words bit you in the butt a few times.
  4. Now that's what I'm talking about.
  5. Well I thin it was you who posted a video of what one of those Patriots can do. I prefer the looks of the Patriot, plus its new interior is much nicer than the Colorado's. Plus you had a Colorado, try something new.
  6. I sort of agree, but I feel that with the Maloo package it looks great. I think the added mass provided by the bed cover and "cab" extension, combined with big wheels and lowered stance helped.
  7. The Patriot, IMO earns the Jeep badge.
  8. I use my shoes constantly, so I think2 years is pretty good.
  9. Yeah my NB shoes usually last 2 years or so, and the only part that really wears out is the inside lining where the heel rests against. These apparently are last year's model, which is why they're half price, but the sales rep told me they're exactly the same function wise. So hurray for a good deal!
  10. Well I finally decided to get myself a new pair of shoes. The cheap ones from, I think Target that were bought for me as a gift barely lasted a year. I've never owned a pair of shoes where the bottom of the shoe wore down to the point where a hold developed on one shoe. I could feel the damn ground under me. Sucked real hard when it rained. Plus they have holes by the toes and the soul is starting to separate on the right shoe. One of the few nice things about Lawrence is that New Balance has a factory, and a factory outlet here. New Balance is IIRC the only major shoe company that manufactures any of its products in the states. Some of their low end stuff is made in China, but I managed to get a really comfortable pair of running shoes for $50 that are Made in USA. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that their premium socks are made here as well, so I picked up a pair of those. IMO their shoes are the best quality (for mainstream brands) and, being a factory outlet much more selection of styles and sizes. Yay for new shoes, and yay for the fact that in some small way I actually helped the economy.
  11. I thought you did that on purpose, we have no actual filter set up for the forms right now. We'd prefer profanity keep out of the main forums but this and the Lounge are another matter. Also it shows that no one edited your post...
  12. I quite like that.
  13. They're attention whores and that's all there is to it. I'm still not convinced this wasn't anything more than a hoax.
  14. Looks liek someone went to merge the topics and accidentally moved the topic into the pepublished articles. It's back: http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?showtopic=45174
  15. Not a chance. If I wanted an Aurora I'd buy an Aurora (and I may yet buy one someday).
  16. Ah, not quite, that's been done before. My idea is even more ambitious.
  17. I'd love to participate. I've never been on a track before though...something I'm dying to do.
  18. So some crummy news. Apparently the guy who did the timing belt/waterpump/tensioner pulley didn't replace the f-ing pulley whose bearing is now going. This is what happens when you entrust other people to do things on your car. I would have done it myself but timing is not something I wanted to mess with. Anyway it's at the shop of my mechanic who will look at it for me and fix it. After that's sorted out it's getting a new outer tie rod and a front end alignment. But on to bigger and better plans. All You Can Carry Day is coming up on Halloween of all days, and the list I've compiled so far is as follows: Taupe door panels, Taupe lower half trim panels Taupe weatherstripping CD Charger (maybe I'll get one that works this time) CD Changer compatible stereo (maybe I'll get one that works this time) LH headlights 300M Dark Slate Carpet 300M Dark Slate Floor Mats Intrepid trunk lid wiring harness 300M/LHS Dark Slate leather arm rest 300M Taupe sun visors 99-01 300M Dash harness 99-01 300M Sea heater wiring 99-01 Engine harness Dark Slate dash bezel with Traction Control Jeep GC visor holders. AutoStick Equipped gauge cluster AutoStick Shifter AutoStick Shifter bezel Possibly a PCM some misc little parts. I think you can see where this is going.
  19. $850 really isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things, especially if its been good to you otherwise.
  20. For anyone who doesn't know they are one and the same. Happy Birthday!
  21. Guys lets keep the insulting of various parts of the country (South, California, wherever) out of intelligent discussion.
  22. If you don't count such coupes as the Camaro, Challenger, Mustang, A5/S5, M3 coupe, Vantage, DB9, Gran Turismo, 8C...
  23. Indded. What we do certainly has an effect on our surroundings, but trying to predict the future based one a comparatively small amount of data and claiming it as fact is when it gets nutty. Focusing on what we know and can do in the here and now is more important (reycling, using less paper products, energy efficient bulbs and appliances, etc.)
