2 SRXs Lotus Elise G8 GT

30 seconds to remove...30 hours to install. I can't get enough leverage to get them back on using the tool, the closest I get is teh first notch of 2 for the keepers...and my palm is sore. I managed to get one on by compressing the spring with teh spring compressor and then placing it in the engine. The 2nd one it keeps slipping off. Morning of driving + afternoon and evening of this + 90 degree weather means I'm calling it a day. Maybe in 12 days I'll get all 12 done...and my palm will be very bruised.

Not the sort of animal I would want that's for sure. I wouldn't want to have in the back of my head the worry of my pet attacking me. Had it happen once. Not a fan of it.

Not sure about PA but I was 21 when was hit and was able to get a rental.

I picked up the tool this morning..surprised it was Lisle and not CarQuest branded...pleased that it was Made in USA, and thrilled that it took 30 seconds to do what the other 2 tools failed to do in 2 days. As soon as I get home this afternoon I'm getting straight to work. I figure that since I'm here, I might as well replace the valve seals as well.

Lack of insurance info is not a good thing at all. I would have demanded it then and there.

Man you have the worst luck when it comes to car accidents. Sorry to hear...doesn't look totaled though...your car is probably worth enough to cover the cost of pulling out the rear body and fixing it.

I did which is what convinced me to get one tomorrow. It should do the job. Will make a run to CarQuest to get one Thursday (rain tomorrow =/). Some pics:

Well ok, the 2nd tool I bought today would work but the gap between the part the seats on top of te spring is too wide and keeps slipping off. It's also cheaply made, as both arms are bent now, I had to bend them back. If I can find some kind of spacer to put on it so it seats properly i can properly compress the spring...maybe a big washer...

Anyone here done it (with the heads on)? I'm having trouble getting either of the two types of spring compressors to get a grip on the springs. Any tips? I'll get some pics up in a few.

Meanwhile Acuras are for people who wanted tarted up Hondas with a little more luxury than their Accord has, and an ugly chrome beak on the front of them.

I would say Buick is a closer competitor to Acura, Cadillac more for Lexus/BMW/Mercedes.

Figured I'd post something new. This week's project is new exhaust valve springs. Seems there's a TSB for it. When the car is at speed it can hesitate and misfire from P0300 though P0306. Sounds like an issue I have, so rather than paying someone to do it, I figured I'd give it a go. Taking my time with it, since I've never done it before. Tomorrow will be Day 3, and I will pull the first spring. Pretty sure I'm going to replace the valve stems as well, since I'm there...unless they are in good shape. Some pics! Looks pretty clean in there!
