  1. It is a baffling little thing, and while it is weird looking, I like it better than both the Versa and the Cube. It certainly has personality, both in how it looks and how it drives.
  2. 100 Problems...it needs a bath.
  3. Well if nothing else it's a learning experience to check the little things for signs of larger problems on your next purchase.
  4. That long for an intake gasket? I can see it taking me a day to do a 3.5 at most, and I've never done the lower.
  5. Too bad I didn't see this until now, we could have met up.
  6. You went on a road trip up here and I didn't know about it?
  7. $4,000 is too much for a car that can't be driven. If you get the clutch and whatever major issues it has sorted, then yes. Otherwise a car that can't be driven is worth $1,000 or less in my book. Friend of mine just bought a late model Eldorado for $1,000. It runs excellent, shifts nice, and is in really good shape inside and out. All it needs is a corner lens. There are deals to be had. That Chevy truck is worth maybe half that, assuming it can be driven on the road legally. If not it's worth about $500 or less.
  8. So let's review: Ricer carbon fiber big wing Red wheels Red windshield sticker Giant hood scoops Definitely not going to win any awards for good taste, but the kid seems to know how to turn a wrench, so good for him.
  9. I love the openness about it. You get so much natural sunlight. It feels warm and inviting, with a wonderful view. Everything is so clean and neat.
  10. It could also be made using smart glass, which solves your privacy issue, if it isn't it should have used it. And yeah, having an open view of nature is hardly lifeless.
  11. I enjoy modern architecture, and design inspired by (and including) Frank Lloyd Wright. I especially like the Willits House I especially like the clean, open and airy feel you get from these types of houses...although that one takes that to the extreme. Some more stuff I like: I also like it when modern, open design is combined with more traditional architecture. With that said I have always found other types of architecture to be fascinating, particularly Greek, Roman, and Gothic styles. Gothic Cathedrals in particular, with their ornate designs and their flying buttresses are one of my favorites. I
  12. Let's share stories about the state of the infrastructure in the state you live. In this case I'm going to point out the state of bridges in Massachusetts (and some in NH near the border). As of 2008, there were 543 bridges that were structurally deficient "due to years of neglect" in Massachusetts. The state was forced to initiate an emergency rehabilitation and/or replacement program to get these bridges back up to code. Link Here's example of just what I have personally seen/see every day (except the bridges opening up). In Methuen they had to do major structure renovations to the the bridge which goes over 213, and had to close the whole bridge down to do it. Several years ago a bridge which crosses over the Spicket River in Methuen collapsed and they had to rebuild it. In Lawrence they had to redo part of the structure on the 114 bridge, and now they are working on redoing the 28 bridge (which has been in terrible shape for years). In Tyngsboro they closed down the iconic open, braced rib bridge for repairs. The bridge is in such poor shape their are holes in it where you can see the river below. They erected one of those temp bridges next to it. Supposedly it's finally being renovated. In Lowell they performed renovations to the School Street Bridge a few year ago. Meanwhile, the University Ave Bridge was closed several times during my Senior year due structure concerns. It was completely closed down at one point to preform emergency repairs. Apparently a temp fix while they build a whole new bridge. They're also the bridge which connects 38 to 110. It's undergoing major structural repairs, but the bridge is partially open because it can't be closed completely. On I495 they are doing huge bridge work replacing the bridges which cross over Billerica. On Route 2, which itself is horrible inadequate for the amount of traffic around Leominster, the I190 junction, and Fitchburg, they have the bridges which cross over Gardner partially closed down while they preform extensive repairs. In Athol they had to close down the R32 bridge which connects Athol to Orange (and had to squeeze in a narrow temp bridge) in order to repair and resurface it. It's been closed for at least a year. It's finally partially opened while they work on the South side of the bridge. This isn't MA but worth mentioning: In Salem, NH they had to close down one of the bridges to preform structure repairs and resurfacing. They had to replace one of the bridges that crosses I93, and they're working to either replace or repair/renovate another 4 bridges that connect or are part of I93. And that's just what I've personally seen. Within the past few weeks there have been four incidents with 3 bridges involving slabs of concrete collapsing. I can't remember the other two, but the big one was the I93 bridge near Medford. These were large enough to severely damage several cars. "Officials said the two holes that opened 25 feet apart were not the typical spring potholes bemoaned by New England drivers, but were caused by something far more serious: the decay of concrete and steel attributed to years of postponed maintenance." Yeah, there's nothing wrong with our bridges.
  13. Just because a car passes an emissions test doesn't mean its in the same league as say, a ULEV vehicle's emissions.
  14. I think hazards with big trucks and conventional buses could be a problem, but otherwise its a sound idea. No longer would buses hog lanes and hold up traffic, because you can drive right under them!
  15. New cars have better resale, but the price of new cars has nothing to do with a car that hasn't been built in 6 years, for example. You use KBB or NADA as a reference for actual car values. I've seen classifieds for cars worth $5,000 at best being advertised for $8,000.
  16. People, for whatever reason, seem to think their used cars are worth way more than they actually are.
  17. Don't forget watching your enemies melt via acid weapons!
  18. Problem Officer?
  19. What is this I don't even.
  20. That thing looks almost new!
  21. Make sure to check the condition of the fluids. Check for white flakes around the oil cap/neck for signs of coolant, check the condition of the coolant, what color it is, etc. Oh and go for as long a test drive as they will allow. Check the whatever bushings you can and isolators too.
  22. Well it does look like a nice truck (in photos at least), but it might be a good idea go for one that's maybe not an R/T and therefore less expensive, so you don't need to pay for it with loans. It's worth noting that retail value for a 72k `99 R/T is $6,510
  23. That's pretty disturbing.
