  1. There are many here that try to defend that point of view, myself included. The overwhelming majority here probably feels this way. It's the staunch loyalists who don't understand and won't compare objectively.
  2. quoted for emphasis. despite what many here think, it is a journalist's job to be as objective as freely possible. This means there is a system of checks and balances out there that will determine if a journalist has gone too far off the kilter. Remember the JErry Flint article responding to Dan Neil's G6 review? The media is responsible to the public, if they were defintely being too one-sided there would be a lot of people looking for thier job. But a large portion of the American public agrees with the media, perhaps it is those that complain about bias here who need to get thier bias-meter checked.
  3. a date with Julie...even though she already has a boyfriend a new car all my dreams come true

This is a great point, but I'm figuring that GM is undergoing design revolution. The way you described Lucerne is perfect, but let's say it was patterned after the Velite, would that design not be wonderful for the interior. As much art as is present in these interiors, GM needs to infuse thier cars with equal amounts of innovation inside and outside. Also, the Range Rover is my favorite interior of any truck, bar none. That stiching on the seats and the shape of the seats is so old-world and classy while the dash is completely modern and elegant. NICE.
  6. it could also be pre-production....for all we kow these pictures aren't even of a final design. we've also only seen just one portion of this dash, it could look good set against the rest of the interior.
  7. cool, thanks for the info. well, I look forward to seeing the GXP...
  8. LAIAS is beginning already? When will it be open to the public?
  9. the turbo will be spread across to the others, i.e. cobalt and saturn redline, if that's still in production for some time. that will make cobalt ss sc deadly.
  10. nice car...any more euro commericals featuring cool cars?
  11. interesting that it will debut at LAIAS, I wonder if this is the production Pontiac everyone was buzzing about. I hope not, but I should have expected this all along.
  12. Does anyone else think the Solstice GXP is the production Pontiac they were talking about? That would be slightly disappointing, but only slightly because I know it's what I should have expected. The new Aveo will be there, along with the Sub and Yukon XL. Pretty boring list compared to what will decidedly be an amazing year at NAIAS.

present interior design is.....especially the ones posted here so far......everything is subjective, but these interiors are startingly beautiful, and would capture the hearts and imagination of the even extreme taste-afficionados EDIT: I didn't mean to preclude wealthiest people as being the only who would have the highest in tastes, so I've changed the post to reflect that

if you think there are GM interiors from the past worth updating then post them. When I look at older interiors though I see a lot of missing links to the present; if you can explain how to modernize them, then go for it. I just thought these interiors I've posted share cues with GMs of yore [like the sweet Alfa interior] and work extremely well with the brand's respective image.

  16. right now is looking more and more like the time to buy stock.... I don't think investors would be happy at all with bankruptcy, since they will end up losing value

you know BV, they could slap this exact interior in every Pontiac and I would not complain. Just keep the quality and colors.....colors....colors GM!

When I think of Chevy, something like this comes to mind. Nice, interesting colors, great quality all around, some nice elements of brightwork and luxury stitching, and overall an everyday man's design that is still sporty, has some heritage touches, but is overall not CHEAP. Everything that Malibu above is not. Those Chevy concepts Northie posted would work perfectly too...

That was going to be the next interior I posted, socal. I think the volvo's creative quality in the center stack is something GM desperately needs. GM just needs to see that every part of the interior is crucial, and probably one of the most crucial areas for design is the center stack since it's so visible to all occupants, it's in the center of the design, and it gets touched and used the most. This center stack would go incredibly well even in a Cadillac. A Saturn with it would be a game changer.

I am a big fan of all the interiors you posted Northie. The Chevy concepts were the perfect Chevy interiors. Don't need to do much more than that, emphasis on quality materials, little touches of brightwork, as the car gets more expensive so can the interior, and an emphasis on getting the design right like in the SS concept. The Acura RL interior is fantastic. I love Acura interiors, and that center stack is very artful, Cadillac needs to be doing big bodacious things that jump out at the eye, just like that center stack. Another favorite of mine is the TL interior. Cadillac could use something like it with an even greater expression. Acura TL
  21. Ugh, this is exactly the kind of post that clogs this forum. we know already you want rick wagoner not to be the head of GM. there are some here that agree with you and others that don't, but they don't mention it at every turn, much less in soliloquy form.
  22. yes, he's sure, and yes, thank God for it. as ah-ha once put it, these fine machines deserve smooth engines.
  23. It's not close. Ah-ha said it wasn't, thankfully. Also, the current design is ass.
  24. I lose more respect for Buickman everytime he doesn't respond in a direct outright fashion. Buickman said: when there was a clear requst for DATA to show the Plan will work. Another question was posed: Why haven't other automakers contacted buickman to implement his plan. It's been public for six months, and at first there was such a ruckus over it being private, that he actually did pique the interest of many. Anyone preparing a business proposal, whether it be marketing or product-related, HAS to have a fiscal data presentation. Just any data, besides regurgitating what we already know about your records as a salesman would have been nice. Persuade us with facts. Oh and evok is right on about this plan not attracting new customers. GM's biggest problem is not thier loyal custoemrs, but their inability to attract new blood.
  25. Wishful thinking? I admit it may have sounded like a puff piece from the first line, but I think you are emphasizing the wrong points. When I was talking about Toyota's launches, I really was thinking of cars like the Highlander and 4Runner, both more competitive than the Trailblazer or Explorer, and yet they can't topple those. Or the Sienna, superior to the DCX twins, and while it's making sales records on its own, doesn't manage to catch those cars either. I pointed to more recent Toyota launches that prove this trend wrong. I said Rav4 could easily get 150k. Check the Camry sales. As of November 2005, they were 7k ahead of November 2004 in total sales for the year. So the difference this year will be somewhere around 10k units, unless Camry dips for December. That's not unimpressive, but again, I said it's a solidly engineered car and there will always be buyers for it. I don't think it can reach 500k, not even 470k. Highlander Hybrid is adding 3k per month, but TOTAL Highlander sales are still running at the same clip this year. Goes to prove Petra's theory that most people that bought the Hybrid were already looking at the regular version of this car. I don't know if or what the Hybrid will add to sales, I do know chances look good for Toyota.
