  1. Is the rear the same as the Cobalt sedan?
  2. There is a terrific commercial for the HHR I saw about two days ago. It shows the HHR in all kinds of different colors, and kind of plays a barrage of HHR imagery to get in your face. It's also very 70's ish feeling to the production of the commercial, with a great song. Overall it's an incredibly well produced commercial. I really want to see it again, I am glad they showed it in a lot of different colors, I think the different hues are part of what make the HHR so attractive, especially with the chrome package.
  3. check out the patriot, it's much cooler in my book
  4. It's got a more attractive rear than front. I love it. I think it's gorgeous. Interior is very nice too. I like the Sky's simplistic approach to design better, but this is certainly more luxurious.
  5. aveo looks like a much classier sibling to the cobalt now. The rear tailights, I thought they had originally shown them in red, whcih was more attractive. The interior gets even better in higher trims...
  6. Wow, that rear end is incredibly well done. I just love the truncated look that follows BMWs motif, but works much better here. I've never been fond of some of the lines that go nowhere, and the front is a little homely, but overall this is a very nice hatch for BMW.
  7. Well, it has a lot of cues from the old Jetta, like the fender flares, greenhouse, side profile, and overall proportioning. I think it's kinda cool, I'd look at it for around 9k, to me it's cooler looking than the Aveo. The Aveo just has to get edgier and it would be a lot cooler, less breezy....
  8. I agree with others that GM should take caution on how it prices the HHR. It sounds like they are getting overconfident a little too early on, but I am glad the HHR is doing well. GM needed a hit, besides the Solstice.
  9. i don't know that it's necessarily a waste, like the article states, that park is a huge tourist attraction, and is helping to make Chicago even more vibrant and grand. The downtown will continue to expand and become more and more popularized. PRetty soon it will stretch into the worst areas, and convert them in the process to nice areas.
  10. that interior is magnificent, definitely not production-ready, but it can be done pretty close to this, and those colors are fantastic....I want the 2-door version to come here too.
  11. it's about 20,000 times better executed than the Journey.
  12. It's really good looking, very substantial and sporty looking.
  13. This is the area they are talking about, in case anybody wanted to see it....I love my imagehosting account...
  14. probably nothing--i don't know that there would be a good reason to test a concept Camaro that will show at NAIAS on public streets. And the production version is to far away to be doing official testing on public streets either. sorry
  15. WOW! The Opel is perfect! Would make a perfect Saturn or Pontiac or Chevy. Just beautiful, and the T2x is clearly the ancestor of this car. The Opel just looks phenomonal from all angles. I am worried that we are seeing these cars too early and will have to wait now for introduction too long, the next Vue won't be for another two years, that's long.
  16. ummm....I don't know that Pontiac even gets looks anymore. It's image is very very bad right now and thier designs are getting tired. Chevy isn't much better, but it seems they have it easier with getting new product.
  17. You know I could say a lot here. The simple problem exists that GM is about to be surpassed as the "number one manufacturer of automobiles" in the world, an historical event to say the least. There is a very large problem indeed. My reasoning doesn't work with some here; they refuse to open thier eyes. There is a reason GM makes almost no profit and has been that way for several years now: THEY DON'T MAKE CARS PEOPLE WANT TO BUY. Underline "want"; desire, pull, emotion, fixation, obsession, passion; these are not terms that can be associated with GM cars [until now]. Defend and be yes men all you want, the current administration sees the problem and help is on the way in the form of import-beating products, finally. Competition's a bitch. You have to work double-time to see what they're thinking, GM, in thier arrogance of being the number one maker, number one dealer network, number one advertiser, lost sight of it. GM is now solely a finanical loans business. They don't make profit on thier cars. WHY IS THAT? Answer those tough questions to yourselves, since I believed we had covered that ground on this website for years already. I beleive in GM and thier potential for the future, I will not stop supporting them, I will not stop voicing my views, and I will not stop spreading thier story.
  18. To me it doesn't sound like he was saying larger than the GP, just a larger performance sedan in general, large like the size of the 300. the way griffon is talking about it, it sounds like the business case has been made, the mission of the car is outlined, and it's already been approved. This could be your Pontiac car.
  19. I could look at that astra all day long. I also love the Focus and GTI up there. But the Clio? Well, it's not my favorite but I can see the cool in it. I think people who have a real appreciation for small cars are more likely to like hatchbacks.
  20. REPUTATION. Caused by GMs own ineptitude over the years. They have the strongest dealer network in the country. They have the most loyal consumers in the marketplace. They have had 50% controlling share of the marketplace. At some point in time GM must accept responsibility for turning customers away with consistently underperforming and shoddy cars. In current times overall refinement is still lacking. Reputation, however, will continue to hinder GM because they have all these customers that explored the limitless posibilities the world has to offer and decided they were "never gonna go back". GM has to produce showstopping vehicles that offer nothing but the best combination of the most desirable design, powertrains, sophistication, and class in order to get people looking who otherwise wouldn't. The current Impala ain't gonna do that. It will help stop some of the erosion because it's an otherwise good car. But Mr. and Mrs. Smith going to get the Accord no matter what because they've already owned three that have been perfect won't look twice. Solve that GM.
  21. Ah-ha once said about the front end: "wait till you see the front on this Escalade." It's pretty clear from these pictures that they are going with a Sixteen-ish design, but the final product is still left to be seen, and I can't help but think we will all be blown away by how good it actually looks. We'll see. The interior on all these trucks is gonna rock too. I can't see why there is much reason to complain. The power figures are outstanding. I beleive it was evok who said ride and handling were both substantially improved. The exteriors will be more than freshened, they look to be elegant and refined and cutting edge. I'm not sure there's any reason to complain on a truck we haven't seen yet.
  22. I have spent time in both.
  23. Emphasis on this post. Thank you for putting it so eloquently, this is exactly how I feel about Buick and its cars.
  24. YES! I am almost 85% sure this means Pontiac is fighting for something unique and "Pontiac" that could elevate its image as opposed to another Cobalt clone. Which is great imo...
  25. You're right Canopie, I was being too broad when I attacked the interior of the Lacrosse. Most of the attributes you mentioned are right on--it does have a silent interior and it does all fit extremely well. I should have specified my problem with it, which is and always has been, that GM shoots too low with the materials and design. Take a look at that picture of the Accord and see how the center stack flows into the console so well. See how those oversized buttons look so high quality. Sit in an Accord and sit in a Lacrosse and you will see that there are some areas where the Lacrosse still falls short in terms of material quality. Keep this in mind: the Lacrosse is actually supposed to be from a higher class of cars, it's in a higher price range and is from a "premium" carmaker. Sit in those Accord seats and you'll know the Japs must also be freakin' massage therapists. Feel the door panels and they all feel solid and like they'll last forever. The stalks, buttons, panels, all feel like they are the right level of quality for this car. The Lacrosse is nice, and a lot of it is very high quality, but the design is still lacking, and the materials are still a step behind. They got most everything right on the Lacrosse, I only wish a few things were different. My biggest problem is I wish it would have just started on a different platform--for me, even though it is overused, a highly differentiated and luxury-minded Epsilon would have been better. Or just introduce a whole new luxury platform for Buick--Buick deserves to respected and more exclusive than it is now. It deserves to be looked at by Lexus-intenders. That is not a deal breaker for me, however, because what they've done for the platform on the Lacrosse is excellent imo....The only thing I wish they would have worked on more is fixing the damn styling and design; the proportions on this car are silly and downright from the '80's. Maxima's proportion of the early '90's were better than this car. My next problem with the Buick is obviously the powertrains; there is no excuse for having a highly refined, technologically advanced and efficient engine in all Buicks. The 3800 is not that. Fine if they make it a base engine, but don't charge an arm and a leg for the 3.6--and definitely don't allow the uplevel engine to be less powerful and less efficient than the competitors or than a previous engine (3800SC). Again, this wouldn't be as big of a problem if other things were fixed. The interior and space utilization are my only other major problems with it. And the fact that it is dowdy and grandpa-looking. In fact, that's my biggest problem with it. If it didn't look like every other Buick, this car could have had a chance, but it does so it it doesn't. I was definitely not yelling Canopie, and I do have a lot of knowledge on these cars, I don't just come in and read about Buick once in a blue moon. Everybody in this forum can tell you I am here nearly everday and I have an immense respect towards Buick and what they could be. Emphasis on "could"; as it stands whether you like it or not Buick makes not a damn thing that excites me. And we could have different opinions--it's not a bad thing. And it really doesn't bother me whatever misconceptions you or razor have of me. I'll just keep typing away.... Razor: People buy Jap cars because of thier reputations. That's it. It's as simple as that. You're right in thinking that thier cars are not something groundbreaking or amazingly better than American cars, but we've still got a lot of catching up to do. And I have seen the future for Japanese cars and we either better have some damn good wares or we better duck and cover because competition as disciplined as the Japs are won't let up ever, competition only intensifies and a fool underestimates the enemy. I don't go telling people to buy Jap cars, otherwise I wouldn't be on here. I advise you to take a break, relax and get over thinking of me as your enemy, I'm only telling it like it is. And I do recommend Chevys, Pontiacs, Caddys, Saabs WHENEVER the opportunity comes up. I am also not going to lie to someone.
