what happened to value pricing? I'm not saying these are overpriced, but the whole STS lines needs readjusting, and then this could go for 70k, a true performance bargain. As it is, I wouldn't buy it over a one or two year old E55 or M5 or RS6

and so goes the saga of Saab's product planning. The only way they will get a return on Saab is when they release vehicles with a distinct Saab design that is original and thoroughly executed. Whenever that happens Saab will be successful.

no yelling, you're absolutely right maybe these should be forum guidelines, or the rules for being GM fans, accept that your favorite car company makes craptacular cars.... :P I love GM as much as the next guy, but cheerleaders will get them nowhere, and definitely not where I would like to see them go. Toyota's motto should be "Relentlessly pursuing perfection" [I know it actually was Lexus's motto], because that is where they are going. Until we discipline ourselves on how to be like that our cars will continue losing comparison tests. GM: NO COMPROMISES!!!!!!!

hmmmm....not sure i dig it. going to wait and see the rest before i comment. disappointing, defiinitely reminds of the Expedition and current Escalade. i wish they had gone for more of a Terradyne look, though they might have and I just don't remember what the truck looks like.

FOG, it's not that the public won't take notice of this. This article is designed for CEOs, not the general public. OF course, the general public could notice this and see some cool American cars, and that's about all. But these cars aren't for the general public, they are for the wealthy. General Motors general public mainstream cars are not as good as the competition, when they get there, and higher, the general public will notice. Until then, the advances they make have to be spread across the line, and they have lots of advances to make.

GM changes top manager in performance division
turbo200 replied to Northstar's topic in General Motors
I was there watching the whole thing, didn't want to step in because I thought they would resolve it. Josh took some words BV said, misinterpreted them, and added a whole lot of heat to it. Kinda like he does a lot. Josh is trigger-happy. BV didn't say anything to warrant Josh's response, and unless there was some issues already there, BV was just saying some simple things that didn't really warrant all the "you know what's good for you" talk. -
I really want a classic Cadillac limo like the one in Fly's post now. That's just too beautiful and classy for words.

Wow. sweeeeeeeeeeeet

zoomtm, I like that picture of the Lucerne, makes it very stately looking. The headlights really look like they are off the Q45 though, but I especially like the detail in the lower fascia. Now if GM could only promise me to include this level of detail throught the entire Lucerne range, then I might be convinced they are onto something, unfortunately i know the brightwork is going....

quite a bit, yeah i can see that too this car is so similar to the SRX it's unbeleiveable GM doesn't sure Ford for stealing design cues. They really are taking the vertical headlights theme over there and ripping it shreds. unimaginative Ford designers...

GM changes top manager in performance division
turbo200 replied to Northstar's topic in General Motors
Pontiac is a muddled division within GM. They have been chasing the wrong image with the wrong product while capturing only about half the audience they wanted. The other half went to tuner imports and real sporty cars like Nissan, Mazda, etc. Pontiac's dream would be to return to that status of being the rebel child. They had the wild styling that nobody could mimic, and you had to have real balls to own something as distinctive in it. Pontiac's image is muddied, just like most of GMs divisions. Saying there is no performance division within GM is like saying there is no true competitor within GM to VW, Audi, BMW, even Honda. It's just factual. GM has, however, made some great strides in the performance arena, and Pontiac has not been totally abandoned within that race. GTO, Solstice, and GP GXP are great performance cars [even though GXP is too big and powerful to be FWD; and it's a Pontiac so it JUST SHOULD BE RWD]. Chevy has gotten lots of performance attention lately, the SSSC, Impala SS, TB SS, Z06, SSR are all great performance cars. Unfortunately, this level of engineering detail doesn't filter down to the mass market cars, and while these cars are great performance bargains, many are left wondering when GM will get with the times and produce a G6 with a VVT 3.2 engine capable of smacking down the Accord in both mpgs and performance. [insert any number of imports that GM does not have a real credible performance competitor, Cien-like car to compete with Ferrari, Mazda 6 AWD competitor or AWD WRX competitor for Pontiac, etc, etc] It's the product people. -
dang delete feature!

5 would make a brilliant Chevelle 6 nice drawing 3 almost my second favorite, needs more aggressive rear, front is perfect [and beautiful] for new gen Pontiac; interior is beautiful and perfectly realistic special mention 7 4 and every one else too!

Croc, USC looks like it's probably going wonderfully for you. U must have it real easy meeting people, unlike those of us in the real world ;)

GM changes top manager in performance division

Mark Reuss is the head of the specialty performance division that had a hand in the CTS-V, Cobalt SSSC, Corvette Zo6, and other performance vehicles. -
Back to this, Ah-ha did say expect it at NAIAS '07. That is a long way away. That is not just somewhat later than what we originally thought. I'm not saying I'm mad at the information, I'm MAD that GM can't seem to get some good cars out already. I like the fact that good cars are coming. I like the fact that good crossovers are coming. I hate the fact that it will still take a while before they come.

Best line ever. It truly is not worthy of where Pontiac should be. Respectfully evok, thank you for your objective analysis of your car. Let this be something for everyone here on this site to chew on. Even though we may have our own personal preferance, recognize the need to be objective, always. Don't kid yourself. Don't lie to yourself. You'll end up alienating half the crowd. Styling may sway us towards GM [I gotta tell you, if I owned the CTS, preferably V, I would be one damn proud owner, because it is a badass looking car, and has so much design potential----A&S in general has tremendous potential as seen on concepts already]. Loyalty to reliable products may sway towards GM. Livelihood may sway us towards GM. Environment may sway us towards GM. But, please, don't lie to yourself, don't make yourself into a blind cheerleader [some of you are in my opinion], because it's helping no one. And those fans of Toyota, of Honda, of BMW, that have made the choice to go elsewhere because they were free of loyalty ties and perhaps thought the better car was elsewhere, you are turning them away from GM [and GM is too, by not making their cars better] by not being objective and realizing the beauty of CHOICE.

They will laud these trucks just like they did when the GMT-800 platform came out, depending on how much of a revolution and improvement they represent.

Keeps up how? In 0-60 times? Nope. In slalom numbers? Again, not if your comparing it to the 3-series. In mpg? Nope. In skidpad figures? What's my point? I merely am trying to say to stop infactualizing and remain objective. The CTS does not "keep up" with the 3-series; but it wasn't designed to. It is a car that offers more. How much more is up to your personal opinion, and how it measures up to the competition also comes down to personal prefence. Amongst luxury brands, the 3-series is the best selling car. Pay attention to that wording. I do know what the 3 is, and I know what it's purpose is. The Altima is no more a sport sedan than the Impala is, it's just a FWD sedan with nice handling and a solid suspension. The 3 is the epitome of sport sedan.
-
that was a fluke. how can you be objective and not recognize that sometimes carmakers will have flukes, even GM? what about all those recalls we keep hearing about everywhere, should i have a heart attack everytime my car get's recalled to replace a seat belt warning sensor? It's just a fluke, happens all the time. Judge the car for what it is. IF the 3 were that unreliable you think it'd be the best selling luxury car in America [depending on your view of luxury]. the new 3-series is simply the best small sport sedan yet, and they will keep getting better with every generation, GM has to catch up.

thanks for helping me untangle my panties ;)

and that's what makes it an excellent show; it really is a talent show, and the best part is that the concept of "talent" has evolved on the show. Witness the success of Bo Bice to know that the definition of talent will continue to evolve on the show, and already has evolved to the point where they are looking for an all-around true entertainer and not just a "good voice" anymore. Bice was an excellent performer out the gate, and there were a few others like him too.
