  1. That would be perfect....but with the 3.6 making more power in the newer iteration is there even need for the NS? I think a 3.6 with ~280hp and the 5.3 DOD that's offered in the Impala would be perfect. [even more perfect would be the 5.3 matched to the dual mode hybrid system]
  2. it wasn't just him, sox hitting was on tonight, and so was, for the most part, houston. Houston didn't have as great hitting as the Sox have had, which is what saved them tonight, Consistent Konerko and Podsednik both with homers.....also the consistently great defense from Crede, along with some solid base running by others clinched this one. Houston will put up an even bigger fight next time, but we'll be ready. Petitte had his night to shine tonight, and even though he was doing well enough, he was taken out a bit prematurely I felt. Sox stick with thier pitchers, while competitors bail out early.
  3. gazillion times more upscale, and that is how Toyota wins the game with its cars, tiny details that make your car seem that much more special. Chevy, and GM, badly, badly give up this game by not trying harder to impress customers... I wasn't really trying to make a case for the MAlibu being a better car than the Camry, just that it had more character and personality (with the chrome bar). I have never driven the Malibu, and have driven the Camry enough to have a very good impression of the kind of car it is. IT is the perfect everyday man's car.... perfect for the family, and perfectly practical and reliable. It was a target GM was trying to hit with the MAlibu, but failed to understand that there isn't cost-cutting in the Camry where it counts, where the consumer can MOST feel it, inside and in the engine department.....
  4. you jinxed em.....thanks for the support :) sox won in another intensely beautifully played game....homerun by podsedniq in bottom of the ninth to win the game 7-6
  5. OC, I can't wait for the auto show.... http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif
  6. mightymouse, that is an awesome job you have, i think you meant to say you work there....and a '69 based Camaro would be perfect.
  7. hey northstar, it seems like people might need more than a week for this competition.....this car has great potential and I'd like to see what else everybody can come up with, especially different headlight designs.
  8. It's very good of you to pass this along.... I want a 1st gen look all around too. Both the first gen F-bodies are too gorgeous not to love, just damn good looking...
  9. eh....people all around know his story and how recycled it is. The fact that he is who he is and launches attacks at this site is just childish and rather pathetic, unfortunately for him. Let him slander all he wants, one person will not affect this site, it's the best around.
  10. did you see the game? It was a nail-biter, sox win it 5-3, but very tough all around.
  11. game 1 tonight!!
  12. That's a good question sixty, but when that happens to you do you take it on your ownself to go ahead and kill those people. Seriously, slaughter them? No, you stop and you angrily [or however] let them go. This person slaughtered someone and then drove on WITH a body hanging out the window, that's pretty damn scary to me, and would make me think about just how many more like him there are.
  13. This will be releived soon for the H3, I beleive they are working on a small block to fit in it, but at least it will get a bump in displacement soon. It wouldn't be logical for GM to design a Trailblazer around the GMT 355 platform and not design it to fit bigger engines than the 3.5.
  14. This is very disappointing guion. I assume you mean it's going to go FWD. Very very disappointing. What the heck is the point then? Buick will just have another G6 convertible or another 9-3 convertible. What is the freakin' point of having all these rehashes of one another that don't fulfill the brand's core set of values. Buicks need to be romantic, dark, long, mysterious, adult coolness, with long sweeps of lines and curviness. Everything from platform choice to engine choice to interior materials to interior designs to interior colors chosen dictate a brand's core set of values. Buick needs to compete with Acura, Volvo, Audi, VW, etc etc...... I just don't see why they can't get it in their heads that they need something that is long and RWD, solid like an S-class with a feeling of heft, but still some decent dynamics. They need standard features, leather, safety all around, even heated seats, things that bespeak of luxury. Buick's own history dictates that they are in a natural position to compete with entry-luxury makes. This means Acura, Audi, Volvo, NOT trying to carve a niche of its own with "geezers" [please don't take that as an offense to anyone who likes Buick's products]. Saturn should not produce products that are more desirable than Buicks. Buick needs to awaken to its glorious past and design history. It makes so much sense to me. Build it on zeta, have it longer and quieter and a heftier feel than Camaro. Retain the solidarity, but give it more isolation. Price it around 26k with about 230 hp out of the 3.2 DOHC or 2.8, but GOOD power standard. Standardize safety and a level of luxury. Style it beautifully and watch it move. Buick needs this car to be image conscious. It needs to be something that is not totally practical, and is a lot more emotional. Something LA types wouldn't mind tooling around in thanks to the just right evocation of classic beauty..... ahhhhhh.....another rant...
  15. I'm surprised dutch said it's being given the velite grille and headlamp treatment and no one has done a chop of that yet. In my most optomisitic hope for GM, the LAcrosse, being that it will be refreshed, and being that they are waiting three model years, I think it could be a pretty substansive refresh and some of that Buick $4 billion could be put to use. If it gets a pretty substantial interior refresh (newer and nicer materials, less annoying and ugly black plastic in center stack, colors and materials with a lot more design flair) and a nice exterior refresh then it could really complement instead of detract from Buick, as it would amongst the company of the Centieme/RDV and Lucerne. If that happens then the taillamps should/would get revised too, and the whole car would look different again, and a collective sigh of relief for a true "________" competitor (well it would still be based on this archaic platform and probably still not offer all of the power and advanced handling characteristics of its competitors) could be born. They really should give it a 3.2L DOHC engine standard with great mpgs, and a 3.6L with more power than it has now, but better mpgs. Is that too much to ask for? http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif :)
  16. What do you base that on? Just asking because to the best of my knowledge, they are both solid platforms with little to no drawbacks in terms of rigidity and flexibility. A GMT-355 based TB would be perfect imo, and I don't see why they didn't do it in the first place. Like griffon was saying, make it three rows of seating and it would be a great worldwide competitor. H3 is already being fitted to accomodate diesel engines. it seems like a perfect solution, imo.....
  17. What? Agree with the selfishness comments above. Remind me NEVER to walk in FL....
  18. Not that I disagree with it at all....I just think it's pretty comical that a company pays for that kind of thing, imagine what generations before would have thought of something like that. and i'm glad they're doin it.....i won't think about it....but I'm glad they're doin it...good for them, God bless em..
  19. Just what has wp been up to for so long, haven't seen any crazy early morning ramblings about his Maxx lately. Well, I happened to come across some delicious gossip over at AW forums.....this guy just won't let a grudge go.....so much so that he tries to tarnish this website's name........it's worth a chuckle I think....he even talks a little about Joshy poo [I don't see how this could continue, but it does......what's the purpose? Trying to shut down C&G and proclaim to legions of Americans "I am Fart King of America!" http://forums.autoweek.com/thread.jspa?for...22100&tstart=15

The Graphyte was still a good looking truck, very handsome and conservative in an Audi fashion. The Buick was a lot more artsy and distinctive but still very elegant. I think the same will hold true to production.
  21. Rendevous should be kept, but it won't be hugely detrimental to sales to see it go away--this will be such a great car I can see it doubling on RDV sales, and getting conquests. dutch, thanks for all the info, great to read everything positive aboue where Buick is going. Like Chazman was saying, Buick/Pontiac/Holden could foot the bill to update the current GTOs structure for new crash standards. This could be an easy fix, and its platform is good enough to keep around. It would be wonderful to see some Buick and Pontiac RWDs sometime soon rather than having to wander through all the Lacrosses and G6s and wonder when the excitement and rebirth will finally happen-----in 2010. dutch.... on the updates on the Lacrosse, did they include a new headlight and interior design at all? How about chrome? Let's talk about chrome and decontenting. Will Buick continue to pretend like they are not supposed to be an upscale brand and not include chrome trim on thier cars? I'm being serious here......thanks for the info
  22. none....but if we built them in Japan wouldn't there still be a tarriff since technically it is still an American car company. And I'm sure the Japanese impose huge restrictions on foreign companies trying to build on thier soil----has to be. That and the Japanese sense of self pride, they'd probably leave the screws unscrewed, damn disciplined self-righteous Japanese (sarcasm)...... I'm sure there is a logical reason NO American company, or foreign company for that matter has decided to build there. Could it just be a weak market?
  23. yes, there have been several mentions of a BRX and Saab sport wagon on EP II; Chevy and Saturn are getting minivan version of Lambda
  24. Camry has 193 hp under new SAE ratings? Fair review overall.

    GMC Acadia

Was the exterior heavliy patterned after the GMC Graphyte concept? The concept interior of the Graphyte, was stunning, imo. I also loved the exterior.
