  1. 9-3 is already three years old, at least, will be needing a new makeover pretty soon. 9-5 needs to be replaced with a sedan that has relevance in the luxury marketplace, and this decade styling. the new models of these cars couldn't come soon enough,
  2. yes this is true :P just look what it did for the Escalade..... It's a solid design for the mid-size arena, and certainly better looking than most mid-sizers out there. I don't like it better than the G6 [GT and GTP], however, despite that car's quirkyness and heavy-sided front end. It's got a great look to it, and will attract many conquest sales based on that handsome face, nonetheless.
  3. Cool, I'm definitely going to try and make it!
  4. I think the lighting in this picture is helping to make it more drab looking.
  5. I will admit, I am pretty gaga over this interior. And when equipped with rims, this design transforms and is serious. The LR is just as much of a status symbol as the Escalade is in LA, only more people own the Escalade owing to its popularity and lower price overall. Though plenty of people have chosen the ESV and Platinum editions around here over the LR, I've probably seen as many of those as I have of the LR. Keep in mind, there are still more interior color combinations to see and the granite trim that is optional hasn't beens shown in any pictures.
  6. What's so bad about this? The Land Rover is a great vehicle. I think with the power and mileage this beast achieves, plus with the newness of the design and the interior now being up to par with the Land Rover, that it trounces the LR, for around 35k cheaper.
  7. Really? Aside from its "bold" face, what else is their to excite the eye? It really has nothing else to offer in terms of excitement or style. It's just a banal sedan. Mustang and GT are the best looking cars Ford has to offer stateside, imo..
  8. yes he was
  9. as far as interiors go, the escalade wins by a good margin, imo. the navigator has a good design but the colors clash, strongly, there are too many strong colors that don't go well together.
  10. thanks for the comparison northie, the escalde is by far the best of that group; much more elegant and sporty event; great details...all the other ones just look so ungainly by comparson, something with the proportioning of the Escalade just makes it looks so much better.
  11. it was a good ending. Fox did a wonderful job with the editing and music too really dramaticize the fight as well as the overall "fight" between the "good" and "evil" moms. That woman did not represent Christians well, and that's what disappoints me. Myself being Christian, I know I would never treat anyone the way she treated some of those individuals. She did put up with some things that from the Christian perspective are very "New Age", but she lacked respect and humility in the way she dealt with those beliefs. I would never deliberately hurt someone like she did based on thier feelings. The other mom was a wonderful woman. Very reasonable and willing to listen, that's what upset me so much about the Christian mom. The non-Christian mom displayed some very Christian virtues [not just Christian virtues, but virtues of a very good person, virtues we hold high in respect]; she just listened and took all the slaps the Christian mom had to offer about her family. My heart sank when the other mom came in with such a wonderful attitude about everything. Southern Christians, it's such a regional thing sometimes. They grow up with this attitude, "well I'm going to heaven and you're not. I grew up in this and you didn't." It's all very shameful and not at all humble like the God they pray to aspires for them to be. It gets me thinking that she spends a lot more time in her own mind making up her own decisions about what is Godly and doesn't really read the Bible a lot. I loved the episode. I just wish there was the counterbalance and next week they'd show a really good Christian family. In general though, the Christian mother's attitude was not that bad, and she may have seemed a bit fanatical to some, but that's just because of the way Christians will deal with things that are unfamiliar to people outside the Christian world [praying in the name of Jesus, etc ]. Not to say her family didn't display Christian virtues, it was her disrespect and the disrespect her friends held for the non-Christian mother when they came to her party, that I found most displeasing. The best part of the editing, after all the drama unfolded, was learning what the mother had decided the Christian family should spend the 50k on, it was all so thoughtful and considerate, so compassionate.
  12. This Escalade has all the right elements to be best in class. There are slight details I am disappointed with, like the sides could have a more A&S appeal about them, and the interior design is not designed enough as some others have pointed out. But the exterior is what will make this SUV--again. The first Escalade sold largely on its looks and the fact that it was a Cadillac SUV, at a time when the SUV boom was getting underway. The second Escalade again sold on looks, set itself apart completely from other SUVs and became the first Caddy with A&S design. It helped that it had good road manners and a great engine. This Escalade trounces all of those and is a wonderful improvement, while being the right evolution in design. The exterior will again set this apart, and heck might even start a new craze for the SRX, as soon as Caddy gets around to putting this grille on the SRX. [Anybody want to try photoshopping the new grille onto current Caddys?] The exterior is hulking, dynamic, emotive, high-tech, while looking very very sophisticated. I sound like a press release, but I am very ecstatic about this vehicle and would like for everyone else to look at the positives of this car. Come on, 400 hp and the mileage of a typical V8 sedan! Well, maybe somewhat lower, but you get the picture. The hybrid will be out in no time too. The interior is fantastic for what it is. Yes, there could have been more risk Caddy could have taken, but the quality seems to finally be ready to play in the big leagues, and that is a large accomplishment within itself. I think there are enough interesting things going on inside to make the design more than worthy of the high lux category. All the interesting lighting tricks, that great big navigation screen, and the granite trim as well as the wooden trim. All in all this is a solid A effort from GM.
  13. I am so happy with this car. The more I look at it, the more I can imagine it running about LA, it will be a huge hit, I just hope Caddy dealers stack up on different colors. The black hides the lines of the fantastic grille shape and bumper much more than that silver. The silver Escalade looks super classy. I am so thrilled with this. I'm only slightly unimpressed with the interior design that is well, rather throwaway compared to the design of say, the Land Rover. Even Navigator took more risks with the interior design presence. GM has upped the quality, to a point where it can play in the big leagues and for that I am satisfied. While an edgier interior with more bodaiciousness and risktaking would have appealed more to me, this interior will appeal to many, and all will find it very classy and elegant. Thank GOD! Can't wait to see it in more colors and with the granite trim.
  14. Nope, that's just a Chinese W-body testing set to be released soon as an '07. So far there are no confirmed plans to bring Australian Zeta here, however, things shift so quickly at GM, and we've all heard recent rumblings of sedans for Buick and Pontiac, possible one being a VE based sedan (Australian Zeta), and finally Lutz gives the strength of the Australian dollar as the only reason not to bring it here, that could change quickly.
  15. I don't consider this the final word on whether or not we will get the Australian Zeta exported to our shores as something. More inconclusive talk.
  16. Good question. GM needs to pony for the real stuff already, though seeing from what ah-ha has been saying and spending up close time with the materials, i wonder what they really are made up of.
  17. I don't subscribe to the theory that GM has too many divisions, too many models. I do subscribe to the theory that there is too much overlapping and not enough distinction. Brands equate different things in people's minds. How does GAP sell under like ten different companies? How does Abercrombie and Fitch have Hollister that makes incredibly similar clothing at incredibly similar prices? How does McDonald's, Carl's Jr, Jack in the Box, Burger King, Wendy's all exist in the same market while offering the same basic food [there may be differences, but FAST FOOD is FAST FOOD]? Well it's all about minute differences and history and pricing and cateogry that make up a brand. The GMC 900s still could stand for even more differentiation, I would have loved for this to be the Terradyne, but I guess GM felt that was too bold for GMC and might overshadow the Cadillac sister. The Escalade as is has some flaws, mainly the rear and sides missing the "gaudy" tack-ons loses some flavor; the last Escalade had a lot of cohesiveness by using those tack-ons and having them included on the rear tailgates, it added an interesting flair that classed up the Escalade's sides and rears. It was always a pleasing angle to look at from the rear. I don't know if this will replecate that. But my point is there is room for these brands, though I understand the manpower it must take to run GMC. I don't really understand why all that manpower is needed, but that's another story [what's the purpose, their marketing campaign sucks anyways and all they are right now, save Envoy and Denali, are Chevy twins, where does all this manpower's effort go to]. As it is, these trucks are distinct inside and out, very classy, though there are some more details GM could've sweated. And what would have been the outcome if the Terradyne was the GMC truck?
  18. This thing is gorgeous. I only got to see the intital two pictures on mph yesterday night, but after seeing it in different colors, the lines really come out, and that grille is fantastic. Beautiful grille. The overall front fascia, well I was underwhelmed with it from the first two pictures, but the new shot in silver really outlines the face: the lines on the hood that meet with the lines on the grille to really make this SUV smaller and sportier than it appears. The exterior gets an A+ in my book. We need to post the new pictures here, or maybe they're already posted, will look around. The interior is a slightly different story in my book, it's wonderful, it looks extremely high quality, it seems to have great differentiation and potential, but nothing says CADILLAC about it to me, you know how a CTS interior maxed out with chrome and wonderful materials would scream CADILLAC, the design just seems rather generic to me. More later
  19. wishing there were more pictures....where's that granite...
  20. wow. well, I want to resist the temptation to be trigger-happy, but it's very soft, and very SRX-like. Not exactly what I had hoped for. The interior, from these photos at least, doesn't differentiate from the twins too much and does not seem to trounce the Land Rover. I'll have to see more photos though...
  21. is there wood on the steering wheel, on the spokes or just the rim? something to differentiate...
  22. That dash is very beautiful, can't wait to see what it will really look like. Some of those pieces, even in these grainy pictures, look like they could almost be leather.
