so then what production cars is Hudson referrring to, chazman? He says a coupe and convertible based off Kappa.
-
I agree FOG.....and the percentages are pretty accurate too.
-
The cars you were referring to earlier in this post: was the Camaro. Of that I am almost positive. Now you are saying they enter production in August 2007. A Camaro coupe and convertible off Kappa in August 2007. I am trying hard not to be too much of an intruder, but I want to hear more. Anything more off Kappa, around August 2007 is only good news, damn good news.

very interesting. Camaro on kappa...hmmmm......we've been told by so many that to change the structure of kappa would be too expensive...well more for the fire, i guess thanks for the info

I don't know about the Malibu, but I do agree the G6 is a pretty good looking sedan. the only thing it should have imo, are better designed wheels in basic form, or just go with the bigger wheels standard. Also I just don't think the base sedan is aggressive enough to be a Pontiac. Even though against the competition, yes it's a better design, but as a Pontiac the G6 has a lot more to live up to. Agreed that the interior should have integrated radios and HVAC controls; I don't want the regular units GM is using, I was some design innovation.

With all this talk of new product, one little car's future that most everyone has stopped talking about is the unloved G6. What will happen to this segment Pontiac once dominated in? How will G6 change when Malibu and Aura take center stage as world-class products? I was eating Mexican yesterday, and I had an idea for a G6 refresh. All of my ideas come when I am eating Mexican. :CG_all: What if G6 were to be refreshed around 2007, a la Nissan Altima 2005 redesign, only better executed. To understand the issues that plague the G6, one need look as far as the interior, it's still flat and unadorned Fisher Price, largely because of a cheap looking center stack. Redesign the interior, and this car will have class. The exterior has been a source of some criticism, and a lot of enthusiasm as well. I think the G6 sedan exterior is pretty great. With minor tweaks both the sedan and coupe could be a lot more exciting to look at. First, even the base G6 should have the aggressive, balls-in-your-face look Pontiac was well known for in the '60's. that would help to add to this car's mystery and adult tone, instead of the current base model that has a soft fascia that add to the feminine appeal of this car. Keep in mind, all that I am asking for is to change the bumper fascias a little bit for some more excitement, a lot like the Velite grille on the Lacrosse really translates that car into a Lexus-looker. Here is the Roush G6: All I am suggesting are some changes to the fascia, to make it more aggressive and more of a performance look, you know more angular edges and a bigger intake opening and such, and these should be standard on every G6. It wouldn't cost GM much money, but it would freshen up the look of the G6, that is incredibly contemporary, and, to me at least, is looking better by the day, a really good thing. The standard G6 should be offered in 4-cylinder trim with a peformance package. Make the 5 spd from the Solstice standard on the G6 2.4, and make the 2.4 performance package with added suspension stiffening and wheel enhancements, short link shifter, in short a true performance package. In my ideal world, G6 3.5 would go away, but I know some here will complain about this. Fine, continue offering it, as long as the more aggressive looks are implemented, then I have no problem with it. The interior is where the real shock and awe will come. Make this interior really Pontiac-worthy, something Acura might put in thier cars. Or just make the concept interior, exactly as it was designed, with high quality materials. Bob Lutz promised us the G6 interior is a work in progress. I want to see the progress. We will be seeing this car until 2010, I want to see some real improvements to increase sales. Bottom Line Pontiac: Fix the interior, add some aggression and tension where it's missing, and add some performance excitement to the base 2.5 as well as an upgrade to the GTP's suspension. Oh and fix the electric steering, or make hydraulic standard. Not too much money, and a sound business plan to increase the relevance of this very nice car.

I'd be willing to listen to buickman if he had more to talk about than ousting Wagoner. It's funny how months back, he became so irate with C&G and with Josh when he wasn't being interviewed. He asked for all his posts to be removed, as if they were knowledge that we plebians couldn't have. Now all of a sudden he's "honored" that Josh has shown interest again. Buickman seems to regurgitate everything he says again and again. C&G knows what the real problem with GM has been, always, for decades now, is the PRODUCT. Clean. cut. clear. simple.

is thier some kind of frenzy going on for the 360? What are normal prices? He's at 405, which is at least 150 over the regular price, or am I wrong?
-
Do you know what GM actually is doing about the dwindling market share? Do you have access to future product plans? Do you know where there future investments lie? Something is being done, you just don't see it yet.

Dude, there won't be lines at Mercury. But, as always, prove me wrong world, prove me wrong....
-
Ouch, the new IS is doing really really well, for what it's second month of sales. Wow, it will be putting a dent in the compact segment if it continues this pace.
-
I'd be so pissed if they put my brand new Solstice outside. But, aside from that, congrats man, you're lucky.

oh, we ARE wasting our time, you better believe it.

yay, more free publicity

Yes, the current Navigator's interior may have looked nice, but the materials were of Ford quality, which is to say subpar for the luxury class. Nothing impressed, and a lot of the switches used felt like they might break off. A used example I saw had all the silver paint from the switches rubbing off, and I won't even talk about the center "alluminum" stack. I don't think the next Navigator's interior will have materials that will feel better than the Escalade's. Why? Ford hasn't learned thier materials cost-cutting lesson yet. They have always had decent materials, but several notches below the best.

i agree

^_^ okay buddy, we'll see about those lines :)

  okay, but be prepared, you are entering a world of strong convictions and standards, we are all very opinionated here :P
-
feel free not to rain on our parade, ehaase :P respectfully, we only get excited because these are kinds of cars we MOST want to see at GM. If they finally listen to the customer, thier fortunes might change. As it stands there are little to no cars from GM that I would take over cars from other companies, if the right Camaro, with the right quality, design, and performance came out, then I'd buy one, simple as that

He's talking about the next navigator interior versus the next escalade interior. He's seen the escalade and now he's seen the navigator interior [and likely we will soon too], and he's wondering which will be better.

I think changing the title of this thread to the one Angry Dad suggested is probably a good idea. Just look at the activity here, from page 1 the reasonable voice was already saying this article was probably not true, and still people were falling in the trap. everybody is ready to hang wagoner at the neck, let's be fair to this man.

sounds good

WHOA. 1. Kappa for concept or for production? I think Fbodfather already said not Kappa once, but he could have been referring to production only. 2 body styles? I'm just wondering if this is for concept or production again. Either way, it's nice to hear, thanks for that bit of info. 2. Isn't the time frame issue done as of Jan 1, 2006, allowing GM to go ahead and show it at NAIAS?
