Whoa! Cool interiors and great features...instant hit. Would this not have been the perfect oportunity to bring back the pushbutton transmissions from the 60's since the whole retro thing is in? Paddle shifters on the wheel for the autostick varients? Otherwise, neat features and great packaging. Makes up for the meh exteriors!

Design thesis from Dr. Z on the new Grand Caravan: "Vhat I vant is for zee to take einen new Zeebring and asshend eet mit einen Durango und zee vhat you get..." All kidding asside - they look like they will sell - They are both clean and somewhat attractive. With the initial lists of options at a hopefully attractive price, they will probably sell each and every one.

The guy in the C6 probably thought: "Whoa! Those guys are idiots! 160 on a public road in brad daylight - this should be fun to watch from a safe distance back here!" Either these guys own a dealership or work for one...love to see if they can sell these 'pre-beaten' rides to any unsuspecting buyers.

evok: Thank you for the numbers. I appreciate the facts. Seriously. I was merely trying to be a smart ass when pronouncing the car's name that way - sorry to have offended so many. With this - I appologize to all C & Ger's for my initial posts where I had made a racial nod toward the pronouncing of the word Camry. It was a stupid thing to do and it will not happen again in any posts that I make. It was juvenile and wrong. I am truly sorry. My first post, though riddled with said complaints merely asked if other C & Gers had also noticed the cars on rental lots. I was surprised at the numbers of the Camrys at the location that I was at. Now, if had been 30 Jeep Commanders on that same lot - I would not have been the least bit suprised.

I was gonna tell you all to let them slide on the tailights until I just looked at NOS2006's chop...how could Chevy miss the chance to put such an obvious styling cue on this car? That chop would have taken the home run that the car is to a Grand Slam. I cannot believe how much that chop changed the car. Good job NOS! On a whole - I love the car - it has personality which I cannot say for either the Accord or Camry...nice job GM - now throw us all a curve and put NOS's tailights on the cars in production!

I was not looking for any cracks in anyone's armor - and I freely admit that GM has fleets of cars in the rental arena...I even noted renting a Pontiac G6 GT...skipping over the Toyota offerings that were next to it in line. I was caught off guard by the Toyotas being offered en mass at a rental agency - when, as most of us note, that it is usually NOT the COTY you find at a rental yard. Usually you see a buick, or the Impala ( not a single one there by the way ) - I was just curious if others had noticed any Toyotas at rental agencies. That was the question that I had presented. I just find it unusual to find New Camrys on the lot when it is supposededly such a huge seller. "Ricardo Montebon carrying the COTY trophy ahead of you as you walk to your car"...hillarious

Yes, when I was in Pheonix last, I was stuck in an Altima. I hated that car from the moment I turned the key. The gas mileage was horrible for an 'economy car', the ride was bouncy and any stray wind really had you correcting the car. I felt like I was going to get killed in the thing. I was glad to get it back to the rental yard in one piece. I guess my other question about these cars showing up en mass on fleets like this is resale value - a long Toyota tradition. Will this do for the Camry what it did to the Lesabre?

I am sorry that I seemed to have pissed you off by some margin by the sound of your reply, so I hope that you shall forgive me. And I will drop the Camlee for ya, since it bothers you so. Secondly, GM, Ford, DCX all dump a lot of slow selling items on rental fleets. Been that way for years. As such, why would there be 10-15 Camry's on a rental lot when they are supposedly selling all they can produce to retail customers? This is why I had asked folks out there if there were other people seeing this same Toyota infusion on other rental fleets. Fact: Everything that I read in the news and on the web is talking about how Toyota is trying to beat GM out of it's # 1 in sales by total number of vehicles sold in North America. Fact: they have already moved to # 2 ahead of Ford. Fact: Gm has moved away from fleet sales and is pushing retail sales, a move that has brought profits up and is helping GM gain strength in real sales at the cost to the total numbers of units moved. which leads to my Question: Has Toyota jumped into the void left by GM? No idea why you took such offense to my original post as to suggest I needed slapped. So, instead of giving me a tutorial on how to write a post and to drop my cartoonish Asian pronouncment of Camry, why not answer some questions that actually address my post? In case you missed them: If Toyota is actually selling all they can make of the new Camry to RETAIL cleints, then why are they showing up in rental fleets? and Are others of you also seeing the Toyota Camry on rental fleets? So, now that you can clearly see what my questions were without the fake Asian B.S., answer or address the questions. Otherwise ignore the post and move on.

Just arrived at the Ft. Lauderdale airport and I was stunned when I walked out onto the Emerald Isle lot of the National Rental Car Company...2007 Toyota Camlees and Toyota Avalons where my Impala's and Grand Prix's used to sit. How can Toyota spare such a hot commodity to the rental fleets? Interestingly, the Avalons were over next to the last few Buick Lucernes on the lot. Has anyone else on the boards here noticed this? The Camlee was joined by the Corolla S and many Avalons...(thankfully I was able to locate a G6 GT Coupe over in the corner so that I did not have to endure the Toyota POS's. I know that these cars are just arriving on this lot because this is the third trip in a month to this same lot. Just curious if this is a trend all over or just a regional deal...love to hear from all of you out there to see if the cars are showing up all over the country - as this would verify my 'padding of the sales' idea. P.S. - I hate Toyota...whenever I see one of them on the road I get angry - I do not do anything - not a vigilante...I just want to slap the owners some times.

not trying to hijack the thread here, but I came across two Outlooks at the local Saturn dealership this weekend. According to the dealer, they are early. Fit and finish look excellent. They had a white 'base' model that was stickering at $28k...there is a leather FWD grey unit that was also on the lot. Very dressed up and well finished. The thing that threw me off on the white one...a powder blue dashboard...and trim along the tops of the doors. Yes, you read that right - powder blue...or a really blue grey. Anyone else see this or am I needing to adjust the color on my eyes? Overall, I was impressed with the size and the tight panel fit and the basic solidness of the trucks. I did not get in and drive, but I plan to steal one this weekend. I will get photos of the drive this weekend if people are interested.

:AH-HA_wink: I am buying lotto tickets by the truck load at this point...Look what we have to look forward to in the next 0-18 months: Malibu, CTS-V, Camaro Coupe and Convertible (if production claims and timeframe is met) CTS Coupe, blue devil Vette, The Kappa's in GXP and Redline trim, Enclave, Acadia, Outlook, Hybrid Tahoe and Denali, Buick Special?...Zeta Impala SS? With all of this - I am going to need some money. Anyone want to help me scratch all these lotto things? One thing is for certain: visits to local GM supercenters will be a hell of a lot more fun in the upcoming years. Good job GM...thanks for the spark! Hand the Japs thier asses and show the world that a car is passion - not an appliance!

I think the Convertible would be the most logical next step - as it would be able to showcase interior improvements over the original concept - maybe a lean towards more of a producable interior instead of the show cars all show one. I personally will have to drive both before deciding which I will buy. I have the Vette vert and love it - it is staying, so I do not know if I need a second convertible...the coupe may do me just fine. Either way - it is getting closer every day!
-
It really does look nice with the roof rack gone...now paint mine black and put the Z71 Grille and Bumpers on it...that would look sweet. Oh, and I want the LT3 group in it...leather captains all around - ebony please...is this where I leave my order?
-
It was a funny prank that screwed their own credibility...Chris your stuff seems to check out each and every time, you have sources that back you...and you have information that adds to what the photos tell us. No worries for your cred...as for the stunt with the gussied up Vette running around...take solace in the fact that they probably scratched it up and some schmuck will be wet sanding the scratches out of it for days...to me, that is the truly funny part of the prank...the aftermath to themselves

How long til Toyota copies this idea and runs this in a Saqouia? A Hybrid that is actually a useable functional vehicle that is not a death trap? Wow. Now we can SILENTLY run over little Prius' without harming the environment...cool! :AH-HA_wink:

1 F 2 F 3 T 4 F 5 F and it is ugly 6 T 7 T 8 T 9 F - Wankel 10 F - 1929 11 F - it was the gearbox in the oil pan coupled with the FWD that made it unique 12 T 13 F - I think it was Duesenberg or Rolls Royce.

DING DING DING!!! BINGO! Tell him what he has won...! That is completely correct! I would have loved an SSR - a useable Corvette - but the first ones came out with underpowered drivelines, Auto only, In red, black or yellow...and had horrible problems with the tops and other issues for the price range...the '05 and '06 were much better trucks but the SSR never recovered. I love my uncle's '05 Aqua Blur 6 speed. A rocket ship and a blast to drive!

Sand in the paint...worse color ever for a Sky! Seriously though, cool sculpting!

I am sorry for your loss today ( as well as the others ) My prayers go out to you and his family. And to the person who drove while drunk - let him be a lesson to us all of what not to do. And may he never EVER drive again.

Let's see: Chevrolet: 1. Production version of Nomad on Kappa with 2+2 seating and storage - size of new Mini Clubwagon 2. Camaro in production form - convertible to show off prod. interior. 3. NG Impala RWD sedan. 4. nothing build in Korea or China in the booth. 5. Colorado replacement - anything would be better than what it is. 6. A replacement mini-van that is basically a blown up HHR that can seat 7, built on the Enclave/Acadia/outlook drivetrain. How cool would that look? Buick: 1. A RWD Buick Roadmaster based loosely on the Holden Efijy Concept mimicking the styling of 49-53 Buicks instead of the melted bars of soap we have now. 2. Production Enclave 3. Production 2+2 convertible al al Velite Caddy 1. CTS replacement 2. A stylish replacement for the SRX in concept form 3. Production V16 sedan and Convertible Saturn: 1. The european Opels in disguise. 2. Perhaps a version of the Kappa Nomad wagon for Saturn, with styling lifted from the Preview. 3. Aura convertible hardtop built on the G6 convertible. Hybrids and Diesel engines accross the board in the Chevrolet and Saturn makes. I do not think that they will fly in the upmarket cars.

oh, and it looks like a Dodge Raider...those were hot tickets in the 80's!

I have to say that this is an answer to an unasked question. But Kudos to Hummer designers...that must have been a challenge to design. It is fresh thinking and design like this that just send sales figures through the roof!

WHO DO I HAVE TO KILL TO GET THIS CAR??? PLEASE G.M. - BUILD ME ONE!!! OH WHAT LINES AND THE BLEND OF OLD AND NEW IS BEYOND AWESOME! Would it be too much to ask to build it out of Aluminum, on a stretched Z06 frame and driveline. Paint mine the same color or Le Mans Blue...perhaps even some of that Aqua Blur if you have some left over from the SSR program...Steering wheel on the left please. 6 speed automatic with manumatic shifters on the steering wheel please. If you can build a 1000 HP Toronado for Leno, you sure as shootin' could conjure up one of these for me! I have spent the better part of half a million with your company on your cars!!!

Make mine a Stingray...one word. And black please. HOLY !!!
