  1. I see some BMW 6 series in there too. Not bad looking though. Will hold judgement til I see it in something other than white.
  2. They are on the Taurus now too...look just like the G8 and Caddy CTS vents...Soon Buick Ventiports will be showing up the new Ford Fiesta for 2009! And is it just me or do all the new Jeep models look like they just had thier wisdom teeth out???
  3. The Beat is neat...but if you bought one would it automatically be a Beater? The groove is cool - Xb potential...love to see the insides...but basically I am torn between the Groove and the Beat...

    Subaru B9

I never thought I would say this...but they RUINED it! At least the old one could not be confused with a Hyundai Santa Fe...The old one was unique and had one of the more interesting interiors in the class.
  5. 1. production Chevy Nomad (kappa platform) that we have been begging for years now. Thanks Bob! 2. El Camino 3. Buick Supers 4. Chevelle 5. Colorado replacement ( have to replace them if the Chinese copy them - it is a law, man!) 6. Saab Aero 7. Hummer H4 convertible to go after the Wrangler... Hey, we can all dream, right? Now I will sit back and watch me get shot down!
  6. AP Story: Ex Vice-president and ecowarrior Al Gore is praising Toyota Motor Company for it's proposal to add nearly 700,000 zero-emission vehicles to it's fleet of cars sold to the general public. "it's a move that shows the forward thinking that Toyota brings to the table that the U.S. automakers just plain fail to realize. This is exactly why their market share continues to grow leaps and bounds! The Gore family will be adding three of these proposed vehicles to our family fleet as soon as we can." A Toyota spokesperson added to Mr. Gore's comments that Toyota Motor Company is the only automaker in the world that is working at lowering it's carbon footprint, and made the decision to build these non-polluting cars while watching Mr. Gore's Oscar winning movie An Inconvienient Truth while attending a global warming seminar at Mr. Gore's 7,000 square foot mansion, which houses Mr. Gore, Tipper and three cats. No word yet when Toyota, the ultimate car maker in the world, will release the cars. The event was marred by a protest by the Blind American's League which fear the silent running cars will reak havoc at cross walks all over the U.S. There was no comment from Rusty, a guide dog leading the protest.
  7. So would the engineless 700k be re-call free or would they automatically be included in the next round of recalls?
  8. I would love one...in about every platform out there in the GM arsonal...as long as it stretches a gallon as well as or better than a TDI V.W....who would not want one? I would say it would be a poor motor for a Camaro or the Solstice/Sky - fun? You bet! Target audience hitter? Nope. That would be akin to putting an Iron Duke 4 banger in a Budget Corvette just not what that platform is all about. I can see it working in the CTS, Malibu, Aura, The Small SUV's (Equinox, Vue/Astra) and would be a killer in the HHR! Bring it here GM...we will buy it!
  9. I have seen a Ton of TOYOTAs on rental fleets...Corolas and Camrys...they must be jumping into the market being abandoned by the big three as fast as they are getting out. I guess someone has to fill the void. Face it kids: Toyota does a great job of marketing a PAYMENT. They do not market the cars so much as they market what it will cost to drive one home today. There is not a week that goes by that does not bring with it the ads in the paper with $139.99 a month on a Corolla, $239 a month on the Camry, $339 a month on the Avalon...etc...this is the 'secret' to the success. The cars are unexciting (to me) and offer mere basic transportation in three sizes for a price point that people buy. Look at the Ford 500 and Fusion. Sat on the lots for months until they brought out a please take me off the lot deal of 0 down and $239 a month - DING! people bought them! Same for Jeep Commanders and the other slow pokes out there. Price something cheap enough and anyone will buy it. And let's face it: In the land of Credit cards and ARM mortgages coupled with high gas prices - people will flock to a low payment to stay off the bus...and that my freinds is why Toyota has seen huge gains in sales despite the quality woes.
  10. Wow...I was waiting for screams, but got thumbs up instead. Well, The Caddy big car would be cool. Look to China's Caddy fleet for interior inspirations and the car could be a hit. As for the Buick - do we bring back the Regal nameplate, or do we look to a new name with a new Identity? I think the new Super is reaching too far back in most people's memory for what the name implied. T-type is too 80's...Grand National - I don't see that playing well either. Any suggestions?
  11. Oh this is going to be so much fun for you 3.8 haters out there...but with the words Turbo and Zeta being tossed about...The next BUICK GNX 3.8 Turbo would be cool to have back off the shelf!!! Now I will stand back and listen to the groans! And YES...I know this thread is about a possible Zeta based Big caddy...which would be sooo cool to see going against the likes of BMW 7 series, Audi's A8, and the Mercedes S-class. I think GM can do it, just wonder who will buy it.
  12. You beat me to it ZL-1...not only was the guy dumb enough to take photos of a prototype car - but he drove it! Can you imagine the shear stupidity here? Imagine if he wrecked it! Oh I would not want to be this guy for anything! Sure he had a few minutes with a great car, but it looks like he will be in trouble for quite some time here. Do any of the lawyer types think he can be sued for industrial espionage for releasing photos of a top secret car to the public without consent - thereby releasing said photos to GM's competition? I think there may be something in there if he SOLD the photos to anyone or profited in any way. Either way - I was pissed to see these photos on the web - as we see the Land of the Rising Sun is watching everything that GM is doing and trying to beat them to the punch. I doubt Toyota will be bringing out a Corvette challenger, but they can now see the future of how GM is making BIG Horsepower Today and get started on thier project to say the next Lexus or some other product they may have.
  13. I have been in love with my Tahoe since I picked her up a year ago. Seriously - there is not a car or truck out there that will ever replace my Tahoe as my daily driver. With that said - I would trade mine in INSTANTLY if this thing performs near what I heard it will do. Plus it will be fun to pull up next to the family of 5 stuffed in a Prius and point to the sticker on the back. I have heard rumors of nearly double the mpg over the standard 5.3 4 spd...but that is unconfirmed at this time. I WANT ONE!!!
  14. Dude! That was like your girlfriend or wife mentioning your mother during sex! Way to kill the mood! :AH-HA_wink:
  15. did anyone else notice what is probably going to be the production Camaro Steering wheel in the rack? Behind it at the bottom you can see the concept steering wheel in the photo backround...I would be willing to bet that we are looking at what many of us will be shaking hands with in the future! I agree with the fob design for the Buick being one really cool piece! The lighting concepts are pretty sweet as well.
  16. Correct ME if I am wrong - but is this NOT the car we get? This is not some pimped out show ride only is it? This is the production variant? By the way - I happen to love this car. Going to have to make the next Impala pretty impressive to keep me out of a Pontiac dealer and out of this car. The Camaro may have to wait...unless I hit the lotto.
  17. Good point! However, I do like the Holden and I think that this car is a huge step forward over some of the current offerings over at Pontiac, but it also fits in well with the G6 and Solstice. For those talking about the GTO (failure?) - I think this car fits into a broader audience than a 2 door coupe with limited space and no options that US buyers like which was targeted at an audience that could not afford the car until huge incentives brought the price down. Seriously, the GTO needed a sunroof, NAV and heated seats for the money they were asking for on the sticker, which competitors offered in that price range. The G8/Holden is a 4 door with a much broader appeal to the family guy/gal wanting performance AND room for the whole family. I think that this car is going to be a hit provided they do not start trying to sell the car for $5,000 or better over sticker like they did with the GTO...I know that turned me off with that car.
  18. Shouldn't the ABC piece be titled Toyota's Woes? Or maybe BMW's Woes? without seeing the show, I have to ask why the press keeps slamming the American automaker(s) particularly when they are showing a product that, at first glance, looks like it can compete with cars like the BMW 3 or 5 series, and the Lexus IS - the brakes and wheels on this car look dead hot, and the panel gaps look tight from what I can see. Question: Did ABC do a piece titled Toyota's Failures and show a tundra or two without a front wheel?
  19. If it is true - great! If not - who cares. I really could care less what Honda has to say when it comes to the automotive market, as find their products unexciting and do nothing to attract me to their showrooms. I for one, cannot WAIT to buy my wife one of the new crossovers. As soon as her lease is up - there will be one in our driveway.
  20. So, let me get this straight - if you are driving your Cobalt down the road and an oncoming Tundra or Sequoa decides to veer into your lane and hit you at the 248 degree angle as tested, the injuries to your head are higher than the governement's HIC count? So GM will add a new piece of trim to the car at no charge. The public is not in danger, as it is with the Toyota products, so I really see this as a Win for GM to make the fix and be done with it. Plus the cars are performing safely in all other aspects - again - unlike the Toyota. I still see the press nailing GM and not so much on the front page with Toyota, their poster child. Ho hum.
  21. As a Commander owner, I have to say that I am not surprised that it is leaving - as there are some glaring problems with the truck, mostly in the realm of Gas Mileage. Why the 4.7 can only get 13 MPG is beyond me. The Hemi is WORSE! Some report best mileage of 9! My Tahoe does 18+ and it has a 5.3. The back seat is tight, and the third row is useless. Period. Oh, and who ever designed the DECAPITRON rear window opener should be shot! Touch the button and be too close and you will be hit in the face every time. With all of that said: We bought it to get my wife out of a small car that she just had to have. It has a TON of great features in it for what we paid for it. It is NOT worth sticker, but for what we bought it for - BARGAIN! The stability control and 4WD system is great, the controls are all Mercedes derived and goodies like memory seats linked to the pedals AND mirrors really make it a nice truck to drive. Seats are comfy and the sunroof and window controls are all one touch (Mercedes) which makes driving it really nice. With that said, my wifes next car will be a GMC Acadia or Saturn Outlook.
  22. As Tundra plows into ditch on test drive with CR reporter at the wheel: "the tactile feel of the airbag was much better in the Tundra then the plastic graining was in the Chevrolet's dash, lending to an overall higher quality crashing experience. The Chevrolet did not deploy it's airbag due to the fact that it FAILED to veer out of control unexpectedly like the Toyota. When is GM going to realize that people LIKE excitement in thier trucks? Meanwhile, later in the test as I was being tended to by the ambulance crew, I told them I could not possibly sit on the Chevrolet tailgate as I was affraid of the cables snapping - GM's Quality is just not there yet!"
  23. mightymouse: "Console Gauge cluster is very unlikely, due to it being so low and away from the line of sight. The 427 SEMA truck cluster sucks. Looks like a toy for kids....Nowhere near production." Not to burst the bubble, but they have just recently produced a car with the console gauges...or have we already forgotten about the SSR? That had them...chances are the Camaro will too...at least I hope that it does. Would really like to see HUD in the Camaro as well, to give us a chance to see those lower gauges projected on the windshield as well, like in the Corvette.
  24. I for one am tired of hearing the complaints tied to the slowness of GM in releasing new product. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard about DCX beating the Camaro to market by a full year with the Challenger! Both were introduced to the public within hours of the other - how is DCX able to get their car to market so quickly? Well, that is pretty easy to do when you are basically slapping a body kit on the 300 floor pan - which four years ago was an OLD Mercedes E-class...wow - exciting basis for a 'new' Muscle car don't you think? Plus, the Challenger is going to be a BIG car Ford did the same thing by recycling old Volvo platforms for it's 500 and Freestyle. Bad cars? No. Exciting? You be the judge. GM is bringing us a completely new platform which takes time to develop, federalize, test, build a plant to manufacture the cars...there is a lot to be done in a short amount of time. I bet if GM had it's way, the Camaro and the Impala would both be tearing up Woodward tonight. We have seen the results of our patience with the fine product that the GMT-900's are. The Kappas are hot sellers and problems are being adressed quickly. I think we can all say that GM wants the Zeta cars to be perfect and hot products - give them time to do it right and silence the critics from the Far East!
  25. Absolutely Stunning. I am in LUST! The radio and HVAC controls will not make it. I have been told this while sitting in the coupe by someone we can all trust to know what is going on. I just hope they can find a way to retain the console gauges, and get something remotely close to what we see here as the layout for the dash. I cannot say I am too excited to see the 'black tie' arrangement that we see in the Tahoe, Malibu, Impala, et al in this car. Please GM - find a way to make this car special without using the parts bin radio and HVAC controls. Maybe voice activated controls with the current arrangement of switches installed? And the Console - please do not chop it up too badly for the cup holders that I know will make it into production...I almost hate to see it happen, but it would suck without them. Love the retro seatbelts...too cool...and the red-line wheels...and the subtle changes here and there over the original concept...so beautiful!
