Good news - surfed around: No deaths. Lots of damage and some injuries. Not a good situation. Looks like quite a few nice cars got hurt. Nothing totally destroyed, but damage none the less. I know I would be pissed if it were my Corvette. B-59 is right about the '85. It was For Sale by the looks of things, but I don't wish this on anyone..in a G.M.

Protected my car from the storm, only to get hit....
toesuf94 replied to daves87rs's topic in The Lounge
Usually, when this happens to me, I tie a note to a rock I find nearby and let them know how I feel about the damage they so carelessly did to my property without so much as a note of thier own to me. Based soley on the severity of the damage to my car I choose which window to place said rock through. Very effective. I think it is imortant to tell people how you feel in a very personal way - a handwritten note is so much more personal than say a text message or cell call. -
it's ONLY $1800 or best offer. Somehow this idiot thinks that he IMPROVED the value of a 1985 Cutlass by doing THAT to it? Wow.

Without a doubt my next Corvette...JSB over Linen Wrap with a tan top. Chrome wheels, F55, 6 Speed auto with paddle shifters and the 436 horse motor. I have had actual DREAMS of this car since I looked at that color online a few weeks ago. And even the ZO6 is hot in that color! You know what else: You can now order your car with ANY color interior now? ($590 option) So you could have a Blue over red car like they did back in the 50's and 60's. You can truely personalize your Corvette now!

Buy it as sson as you can. Chances are they will be hot tickets here in the US...so even a year down the road it will still be worth what you gave for it. I doubt that the advances in the drivetrain will outgun your need for the car. I still drive my 04 Vette and love it - even though a base car can be had with 100 more horses out of the box! Buy what you like an dhave fun with it. You only live once - go order that car/truck!

Thanks TED!!! I GOT TO DRIVE THE CTS! WOW! Handles like it is on rails...at least on my computer anyway. Really responsive too! That was a fun little game, if not a bit cheesy.

A Toyota that I like? Satan just tossed a snowball at Saddam's ass! The end is near! Oh wait...the inside is horrid. Never mind. False alarm! The outside IS 1000% better than the Camry and does have character. Imagine it would look great in the standard Camry colors: Parking Lot Beige, Split Pea Green Metallic, Shopping Mall Gold, And my all time fave: Shopping Cart Robin's Egg light blue metallic.

I cannot wait to drive one of these. That is an awesome car! The red base one he has really shows how bad that fog light opening is without the chrome. Seems tacked on.

Was watching one of my favorite new shows (basically Miami Vice for 2007) and they had the new CTS as one of the character's new cars...looked sweet on TV!!!

Since Ford sold or is selling Austin Martin...can they still use that grill? They should not tone this thing down at all...what a neat and refreshing design compared to the Taurus and the last Festiva that was here! And the back looks like a mini Subaru B9 Tribeca. The interior looks like they shrunk the console/center stack of the NG CTS.

Mid engined Corvette may get the go in September decision
toesuf94 replied to prinzSD's topic in General Motors
I smell a chopping competition. Or sketches: 1 - your proposal for a ME 2010-11 Corvette -or; 2 - Your proposal for the Cien or XLR with a Mid Engine - or; 3 - The PONTIAC Banshee/ Fiero mid engine design. This could be fun! I wish I had talent. -
hey 68...I noticed that the B-59 in your photo has a B-pillar...what gives?

Mid engined Corvette may get the go in September decision
toesuf94 replied to prinzSD's topic in General Motors
There is one thing that keeps this believable in my head: Camaro! Abandoning the price point to start with a base of $72k is one thing - UNLESS you have something that will fill the void. Camaro will do just that. In the past, Camaro and Corvette were so close in performance it was scary - but you could buy the Camaro for much less, in most cases HALF the price of the Corvette. Now, by moving the Corvette UP A CLASS, it leaves more of a gap between the two, thereby justifying the existence of an uber 'Vette and a Camaro on the lot. Just my two cents... -

After reading the Autoextremist article, I find the merit in the persuit of a mid engined 'vette. Still, with a BASE price of $72k, it is going to be moving up the pay scale a bit. I was a little stunned at that price point being mentioned then immediately followed by the words : should keep it's current demand at those prices...You mean to tell me every vette currently sold is selling for $72,000? I really do not think that to be the case at all. Most sell way below that, and do not know of any in our club that own one that was bought at sticker. The idea appeals to me, as does the XLR replacement mentioned in the article. However, if GM rolls the dice and fails on this car, it may spell the end of the Corvette permanately. -
8-track tape player Actually HUD on all cars...and a cell phone blocking system that only allows you to use the car phone hands free or not at all. And would somebody please get Oldsmoboi a pony!

Saw a 'pristine' Subaru Justy yesterday...and in the paper this weekend: Pontiac T-1000 with 8k original miles!!! And a Citation X-11 with 88k miles! 1965 Corvette, all original...in bad shape with horrid 'cheese grater wheels' Dodge Viper GTS - sweet car. 1977 Ford Torino in Lime Green...excellent shape, but double ugly. Silver Buick Reatta with the top down Still a nice car on the road!

Toyota aims to sell 10.4 million vehicles in 2009
toesuf94 replied to Newbiewar's topic in Industry News
Future Headline 2010: "Toyota Recalls 10.4 million vehicles..." Let them sell all they can make. Take the Bullseye off of GM for a while. Let Toyota expose itself as a corporate giant that is depleting resources and destroying the Earth. Good for them. I still won't buy one. Ever. Honda, Either. -
Which GM vehicle would you take in a contest?
toesuf94 replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
NG CST-V or a Blue Devil please. Either can arrive in Black or Blue. -
People who drive the latest Toyota appliance like it is some hot car. An 'S' on a Corrola is STILL a Corrola. And it does NOT give you the excuse to be an A$$hole and NO! You are not saving the world by doing so. It is a car made by an evil company, by evil people. Go watch a film dated December 7, 1941 if you do not believe that the Japs are evil. Google Bataan. People who do not signal. Smokers who throw the butts out of the window... or the ever classy 'clean the ashtray at the light' move. Love that one! Any multitasking while driving...period. Eating, Make-up application, Reading, Talking to Sally about your date last night while you weave in and out of your lane 10 miles per hour UNDER the limit...these are all things that should make you loose your license for a year if it causes an accident. Second offence - two years. Wreck a hot car in the process -LIFE. People who do not respect Trucks and give them plenty of room. 20 tons will NOT stop in 170 feet at 60 miles an hour unless it uses YOUR car and a wall to slow it down that quickly.

I fall more and more in love with this car every time I see a photo...perfect. Thanks for sharing the photos.

I am stuck here in Kum and Go and Handimart hell...I miss Wawa so damned bad...best Iced Tea, best Hoagies...great concept that I wish I could afford to do here. Unimart up in State College got me through many a night with its two for a buck 'death dogs' deals (hot dogs with a meat sauce that probably could remove paint!) Wawa's are great. If ever on the east Coast - check one out. And that is really cool that they sent you $30 in a gift card. Sweet!

I really want to see this thing in other colors...are there other shots out there yet?
-
If it is as good as everything I have heard about it from friends in Europe, it will sell very well. I would like to see the diesel option on it, but it is a handsome car for not a lot of money.

That is why I went to the source and watched the vid on the IIHS website...watch the dummy in the BMW and you will see the body jerk pretty hard on impact. http://www.iihs.org/video.aspx?f=releases/pr081607.flv And just to piss you off ( which I should not since we both love old Buicks ) All I could think of while watching the video was" : "Imagine if these were PILLERLESS HARD TOPS!!! " Ouch. What does it matter if it was Fox, CNN, MSN, or Time Magazine...it was a news story about the IIHS testing results.

Let me be the first to offer my balls on the table to the discussion and say that I am all for it - as an option. Chevrolet has a chance to change the Camaro's image with this fresh start - why not a dual mode hybrid that can compete like a supercar if we want it to? Or better yet - how about a Camaro with the VOLT package for those of us who would love the looks of the Camaro with the drivetrain that is just perfect for the day to day use that we all do? Some of us don't need a ZL-1 to get to work. It would be fun...but not for all of us. Now that I said all that, an LS3 or better motor is still capable of decent mileage and high horsepower..,my Vette does 35 pluson the highway and high 20's in town...a Camaro will be a bit heavier, but it should be close to those figures, so how much better is the car going to do as a hybrid?
