  1. Any letter that uses the terms 'throat yogurt' and 'cinnamon ring' is a winner in my book! Thanks for the laugh!
  2. I bet all the Toyota humpers with the 'new' Tundra are really happy with this on top of the Motor Trend Truck of the Year award...vendication is Toyota's..."See! We are the Biggest and the BEST-Evar! THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR TRUCKS AND CARS - SEE?" This is why I do not read either rag. Absolute BS.
  3. I about drove into a snow bank when this puppy came into view: 1974 Maverick - green over green. Rust was prominent. Probably going to be the old girls last year on earth. It had been a long time since I spied one. Ford had a slogan about a better idea - was this and the Pinto that Idea?
  4. That is bad. I forget where I saw it, and I will try to dig it back up, but I saw this on a Camry that had been in an accident. The person posting the photo made it a point to state how badly the main structural metal in the floors and roof had torn in the accident....this is not the first time I have heard Toyota having this issue of ripping sheetmetal (FJ) I would not feel safe in a ANY car that was doing this, would you?

    TOYOTA IQ

I was waiting on the Nissan 'Curve Setter' to be intruduced. By the way: You think they were SMART enough to use the same high strength steel that Mercedes used? If not, they may want to change the name to the Coffin. In all seriousness: Does anyone here see a market for these Micro Cars here? I would not mind having one until I realize that the dimensions of a Smart are almost the same as the hood on my Tahoe. I have been in love with the Smart since it was introduced in Europe. Would you buy one?
  6. and let's not forget that at the end of the day - the purchase of a Japanese car ASSEMBLED in the US still benefits the Japanese economy - not ours. All it does is increase the trade deficit. Here is how to better understand: go to a hobby shop and buy a model kit made in Japan. The kit has parts that were made in Japan by a mold run in Japan, that was made by a japanese mold maker. The mold was drafted and designed by a Japanese engineer. Now, pay yourself $10.00 per hour to put it together, and there you go. You have now proven how much a Japanese car "assembled" here benefits our economy. Yeah, the dealer level also contributes on a local level, but that is the full extent of it. American cars built over the border in Canada and Mexico still use a large number of parts built and assembled here in the US. I too, would love to see the Detroit 3 pull out of the series completely. Let it go, and move on to SCCA or another actually FACTORY BASED series, like the German Touring Car series or Australian Cup series. The Car Of Tomorrow was the final straw for me. Chevy had too much of an aero advantage over the others, so they gave EVERYONE the same package. Booo.
  7. I am personally disgraced by the lack of ethics that are involved in these former American Sports in the taking of blood money from the Japanese. And yes, it is BLOOD money - the blood of the workers that are getting sold out, and the blood of the Dollar that is getting further and further devalued due to trade deficits and further loss of jobs in this country. Bass fishing, NASCAR (which is a farce any more) Craftsman Truck series, and all of the other events that Toyota have bought are now off my radar as events I will support or attend. Vote with your dollars people, all of Joe Gibbs sponsors...boycott them as much as possible. I will and do regularly.
  8. AND this is exactly why the government needs to tack on the same tarriffs that Japan socks ANY manufacturer with in thier home markets. We need to match these amounts to make the playing fields equal. I do not want the US to go into isolationism, but I would like to see the movement to protect US jobs and marketshare. We gave away the store with the television, the microwave oven, and now it is slowly happening in the auto industry. And when I say slowly, I mean right now. Japan, INC will help with the subsidies to keep product moving for Toyota. This is a methodical war that has been going on since the 1960's and not one person in the US Government seems to realize what the policies of self destruction are doing to this country or the U.S. automotive industry.
  9. In Love. Buying. Bye, Bye Commander!
  10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HEADLIGHT-L...tem170190203041 $90 or best offer... shoot em an offer of $60 and I bet it sells...not a lot of interest in these as they have reached 18 years old...and are used for mini van demo derby's and raced to die. Looks like it is in decent shape. Too bad the old guy had to take her for one last spin through the pedestrian mall, huh? Here is the grill: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GRILLE-chry...p3286.m20.l1116
  11. I am not out to start anything so nobody needs to pick up a rock and take aim... I am curious about the gay patrons of C & G and their view towards the Clintons. Is it favorable or unfavorable? The reason I ask is I grew up working with three gay people in a company - two were brother and sister - and all of them hate what the Clintons did after the promises that were made. Just curious if that animosity still exists in your circles or if they have been forgiven. I personally do not like ANY of the candidates, but wil say I would vote for Satan himself before I gave Billary a vote.
  12. For years the Germans have been putting small displacement high torque diesels in the S-class...and I envy them every time I ride in one or drive one - Nothing like the thrust those engines produce all the way up to the fuel cut off. Get the US onto BIO diesel and get these engines in ALL of the cars and the problem is solved and WE still get tire melting torque! WIN WIN WIN. I would take ANYTHING new that GM came out with in a diesel over ANY other engine in the line up (excluding Corvette)!
  13. Those are some of my favorites as well. Give me a split bumper any day! As for the diesel Camaro - HELL YA! Not only would this make sense, it would be a stellar idea. From the beginning I have been saying that this is the chance to take Camaro to another level. Yes, the asphalt rippling 3000 horsepower big blocks of the 60's and early 70's were great. Love to look at every one of them. But that is NOT where the market is any more. Look around. People are moving out of big cars and into smaller, personal conveyances. Light and nimble are key words, as well as efficient and economical. Safety is finally making it into the mainstream as well. GM allowed the Camaro to die in 2002. This was thier chance to make a move in a new direction and target a new audience. No longer should it be Camaro vs. Mustang vs. Challenger. They should have moved the bullseye to G35 or BMW 3-er. A Luxury or near luxury coupe/convertible that would go head to head against the best from Japan and Germany at a Chevrolet price. TDI, V6/I-6, Turbos/LSA powertrains, RWD. AWD...with heritage design cues, but with an update to 2008. NAV, Bluetooth, ect...items we expect in new cars these days. Is a 450 Horse Stripper COPO reduex going to appeal to 100,000 buyers a year? I doubt it. Fun? Hell yes! Practical in today's market of $3.00 gas and high insurance rates? NOPE. With that rant over. I still want a Marina Blue over white Convertible Camaro when it is made available to me. It may be 'old school' in nature, but it has been my dream car since I was old enough to say Camaro. So I will buy it. Would l like it with a Turbo Diesel that could deliver stellar mileage? YES!!!
  14. how does one say "'bout FOOKING TIME, MATES!" in Ausie?
  15. 2002 Camaro SS Convertible 2005 SSR in Aqua Blur or Silver with 6 speed Ditto on the Cutlass Vert...make mine teal. It will be 1 of 3 FWD cars on my list. 1998 New Beetle - white over black TDI...just like the one I gave my wife on our wedding day. 2006 HHR LT2 Orange please. BMW M roadster BMW M5 - any year/color. Even take a rare Touring model. Chevrolet Nomad Concept - hey it is a WISH LIST. 1996 Impala SS BMW 840Ci
  16. You forgot all the members of the House and Senate. Both sides. They are all getting richer as the days go by, while we all pay more taxes. It is disgusting. Plus the $238 Billion they are forking over to people who are here ILLEGALLY while we the people get NOTHING but the bill. By the way, not really a great idea to name people directly in today's world. watch for a black Suburban or a service truck to be parked in front of your house tonight.
  17. All the officials who think 35 mpg CAFE requirements are REALLY going to stop 'GLOBAL WARMING'. They ruined the horsepower party by pissing in the punch before the garage doors opened. Billary. Just because I cannot stand either of them. Jane Fonda because she is a traitor to the US who still lives here under the US protections. The "Designers" at Mazda who copied the Enclave for the CX-9 crossover. The tails are almost identical. GM really should sue! The "designers" at Toyota that have ruined the automotive landscape with thier attrocities. Scratch that, they do make me laugh when they fail as bad as they have been lately. People who drive Toyotas. Wow. I feel better. Hope the pilots make it out.
  18. $8,333.00 each...I wonder if that included destination and delivery . Ever see one around? I have never seen one advertised. Be interesting to see what is out there!
  19. Yawn...somebody left another bar of soap in the shower to long, slapped it with a set of 20-spoke wheels and called it an Opel/Saturn. Wake me when the guy who designed the Camaro is allowed to design something mainstream, and when they decide to drive the rear wheels like they should. Oh, and GM...show the product at the show on Saturday/Sunday and have it in the showrooms to buy on Monday. I am growing tired of the wait for my Camaro. This move to GME has me rethinking my recent move back to GM over BMW. Maybe I need to start looking back to Bavaria for my rides. And I love My Tahoe and my Vette, but this doom and gloom, defeatist attitude from GMNA on the Zeta platform mates I have been creaming over for the past three years may be enough to get me to throw my hands up and walk. The CTS is great, the G8 is promising, but it was the variants that they just cancelled (wagon and Ute) that I was most interested in. If this is the future of GMNA to make a bunch of Me too sedans that are FWD and copies of everything I hate about Asian cars, then I am afraid they have lost my interest. If I stay with GM, it will be in a SUV/Crossover. Or something that they built before they all pussed out.
  20. yes...but how many did each of them RECALL or "Warranty Adjust" (Sienna minivan)?
  21. Z - just caught up to your post - what a great car! And to find the correct code 427 and a tri-power setup as well! Sweet! How is it coming with the car? I love the patch job on the footwell. Reminds me of a barn find 63 SWC that I was helping with the restoration on. The rear axel on the driver's side had broken at some point and at some speed, as it broke the area behind the driver's seat as well as the inner fender many, many years before my neighbor found it. To make a long story short, we were re-installing new half shafts out back when I looked up at the inner fender and saw a gap. When I pushed on the area at the split, the whole inner fender was not attached. They never fixed it from underneath! and the hole where the half-shaft punched through the floorboards looked just like your footwell. We cut all that out and replaced it with the proper weave. The car drives looks and drives sweet now. Oh, and I was not allowed to buy a 1970 (454) 'vert back in '89. My parents seemed to think it was a bit too dangerous of a car for a 18 year old. Needed paint, but it was a factory convertible, 454 auto in Marlboro Maroon over saddle with a saddle top. And it was an air car. If I recall it needed paint but he would sell it to me for less than $9,000. My dad was all for it, but mom was a big NO.
  22. I know that this car was designed 30+ years ago...but MY GAWD what were they thinking when they did the interior - EVERY SURFACE of the interior - in that green color. And this was EVERY manufacturer in the 1970's. They brought us such colors as baby puke brown, Brorange, robin's egg blue, bordeaux red, shrek green, lemon yellow, and the lovely not quite tan brown. It was no wonder that most of the cars seemed to have black interiors. All in all, pretty sweet boat. That neighborhood is the land of the lost. Seriously, is there anything built after 1984 in the photos? ( O.k. I saw 2 cars there that are newer...)

    HHHHHR SS

Not to get personal, but Blu, are you a big guy or a normal guy? I am a big guy and am comfy in the HHR until someone else is in it. Then it gets tight for me and the kids. I love these little trucks and would buy one in a heartbeat if I fit in the seats a bit better. I noticed the seats seam to be normal sized in the SS versus the standard seats in the HHR. Is this the feeling you got in the SS? I would love one. Maybe even an SS panel with the company logo on it!
  24. I don't like it - it has a b-pillar and the wheels are horrible. Will it have a diesel option and AWD?
  25. So...Fisker is going to produce the 2003 Chevrolet SS concept? Cool, because I liked that design. The powertrain is interesting though...and NO B- PILLAR!!!! http://www.seriouswheels.com/pics-2000-200...front-angle.jpg
