We all know how you feel about nuts but what about Jugs?
toesuf94 replied to Intrepidation's topic in The Lounge
I like all of the jugs I see...small ones, big ones and all the sizes in between. Problem is, my wife does the shopping so I don't get to touch any of them any more! -
GM To Close Four Truck Plants; Review possible Hummer Sale
toesuf94 replied to vonVeezelsnider's topic in General Motors
A reaction to Global market conditions that can be measured with an hour-glass! If GM were a ship heading for the iceberg, they would turn only AFTER the boat sank. It is a shame to see my favorite company floundering this badly. Where has the leadership gone? Hey GM, where are the ALTERNATIVE FUEL cars and trucks that the U.S. needs? Where is your forward thinking? You cannot tell me that all of your dreaming of the 50's and 60's died out and its gone FOREVER? COME ON! You have to have SOMETHING that we can see that shows us that you all did not have your heads so far up your asses that you did not see this coming! The consumer shift has been happening for well over a year, yet you just NOW think that selling Hummer MIGHT be a good idea? That is like trying to sell a house in Detroit right now...good luck! VOLT would be a great start...now let's see the Volt Pick-up and SUV in the works - NOW! BIO fuels and other renewable sources of fuel need to be on the front burner now...not 6 years from now. Show us that there is still some THINKING within GM, or it is over. Sorry for the rant, guys and girls...but the constant bad news coupled with the strikes and other blows to this company really make me wonder why they even try any more. It is like trying to swim against the tide. Eventually you will just fail...and this is what has me worried. -
bright pink New Beetle... :gay: Kidding. Good luck with whatever you bought (as long as it was not made by Toyota!) Hope the arm heals up. No photos of the armpit please. NONE!

G8 second fastest selling sedan in USA !!!

That Awful Impala is a hell of alot of car for the money! I know you were being sarcastic, but people really need to see that car for what it is: Great mpg, lots of room, good looking...and inexpensive. I love them. If it was RWD, I would probably own one! -
if you go the back hoe route, get the smallest bucket you can, and for the love of all things holy, get the yard marked for all utilities...you may loose basic cable or Skinamax for a night or two if you dig in the wrong spot! Or blow the joint up by hitting a gas main or something else you don't want to find. The smallest bucket idea lends itself for digging a trench out to the street or lowest area of the yard and putting your down spouts and sump pump outlets under ground and away from the house. Makes mowing much easier and makes for a cleaner all around look to the house. Just my two :twocents: WAIT!!! It just struck me! Go to your local Toyota Dealer and ask him/her to allow you to test drive the all new Tundra! If they do a ride along, let them hook the ropes around the bushes and show you how great the truck is! Test drives are free..beats renting something!

The bottom one...somebody left the roof mounted seatbelts hanging down in the windows...stupid thing looks like a b-pillar. :AH-HA_wink: Now stop
-
go get yourself a Ryder truck...tell them you need the 26 foot cube truck so you have a diesel powered BIG truck...then dig around those a little and then yank them with the rental. Get the insurance. That is if you cannot get the aforementioned back hoe. And I would not even think of ripping out the bushes with the Torrent.

ATTN: MODS! Please remove the 11,235 POSTS on Sixty-Eight's account. He finds them to be tacky and unbecoming to the site. Or, change the word 'Posts' to 'b-pillars'. (if you are in the mood to be funny) Sixty-eight, seriously, buy a convertible if the b-pillar pisses you off so much, or skip the Camaro threads altogether! Every reader here GETS IT that you hate B-pillars. We do NOT need to read it again. We all know your feelings on the matter. And for the record - I love your '59 Buick...hoping for a convertible version of that car in my collection some day!

For Sale: 200 slightly-used HSV LS3 Drivetrains
toesuf94 replied to Jamie's topic in Heritage Marques
I consider myself a nice guy, so I will be happy to pick up the tab of packing and shipping on a motor and tranny if Holden/GM will put it on a truck...it is the least I can do. Really! Just write me a note of acceptance of my offer and I will forward the address of where to ship the LS3 and trans. Just trying to help! Hope these do find good homes though. Hate to see them scrapped. Ugh! -
All excellent points and you only missed one: Too many damned lawyers making everything made here expensive due to frivilous lawsuits and doctor's malpractice. And the lawyers who are unsuccessful at law become Senators/Congressmen and write laws to further screw this country into the ground. Product Liability and Malpractice are your two biggest reasons for offshoring as much as possible/ high medical and drug costs.

guys - it's the boredom that ensues from driving the cars that causes them to weave and dodge through traffic the way they do...they are so bored that they FORGET THEY ARE MOVING. But to say the accident that happened to your buddy was caused JUST because the person was in a Toyota is kind of ludicris. Remember, no matter who made the car, it takes an idiot to turn the key and forget they are piloting a 2 ton weapon down the road. I often think of the amount of trust we put into people we do not even know every single day in this country...think about all the nameless faces you pass on the road daily...how do you know they will stay in thier lane? Stop when they are supposed to? We just trust people to do the right thing...in your buddy's case - she did not. Could the large number of complaints against Toyota drivers be based on the number of Toyota cars on the road? They do sell a lot of cars in the States you know! I will say, no bias intended, that I do have a 'toyota driver' mentality on the road. I watch them closely for the digressions that you are all talking about. My dad complains about it too. Like they have this air about them that they are entitled to the space they are taking on the road because they are in a Toyota and saving the world or something. Worst part for me is Toyota Motor Credit is a mile from my house, so I have to cross through Tokoyo every morning and evening going to and from work. It gets seriously dangerous. And the looks I get from the snobs in thier Camrys and Corrolas piss me off when I roll by in my Tahoe...ugh! I don't live near any Nuns...so I do not know if they get flashed by the genitalia of Toyota drivers often or not...so I will just have to believe Satty.

What should I do? I found a car, but it might not be for sale...

G.M. - hold on and break the Union this time. Lock them out. I bet there will be a line around the block for the jobs these people do not seem to want any more. These guys have it pretty good for what they do for a living, and the conditions on the line are safer and better than they ever were. This is a GLOBAL workforce now, to compete GLOBALLY, you have to be competitive in all aspects. Steel is steel, rubber is rubber - EVERYWHERE IT COSTS THE SAME. The only variable is labor. If these guys do not wake up to this fact soon, then there will not even be a job to strike from - then let's see what the Union does. They going to hire you and pay you? Show me one Union that ever took over a company it killed and ran it successfully and profitably after they forced management out. Show me! It has never happened and never will. Get over it or the jobs will be gone forever. Has anyone ever wondered why U.S. companies manufacture OUTSIDE the U.S.A.?

Check the sway bar links in the front for your clinking noise - they do have a tendency to rust and become loose. $7.00 for the pair at any Autozone. I once went in to a front end shop with a Roadmaster wagon with a noise in the front like the one you describe...they wanted $600 to rebuild the whole front end, as it was 'shot'. I took the car home and took a look for myself...and found the sway bar links almost rusted through allowing the washers under and above to run loose on th esway bar. Replaced them in 15 minutes and no more noise - and my 'shot' front end NEVER wore a tire wrong or wandered on the road. Go figure.

I have also noticed the SS's disappear from the lots and not returning. I wonder if the axles and half shafts could be the reason. All I know is I saw a Silver SS on e-bay the other day, and it was really good looking with the grey interior. I would love to see GM take a hint from the Dodge boys and offer each SS model in a heritage color from the glory days of the SS nameplate: Hugger Orange, Butternut Yellow, Ermine white,Lemans Blue, Frost Green, Daytona Yellow, Rally Green, Cortez Silver...All of these in limited numbers with a special stripe package. You think they would sell?? And a butternut Yellow with black stripes (maybe put the SS stripes down at the base of the doors??) would be really cool with some re-pop 18" old school rally wheels and beauty rings!

That did not come out right...Toyota makes pretty much ALL boring/bland appliances - at least in the U.S. market. I also recognize that GM does the same in a majority of the cars they make. GM makes up with at least a performance car like a Corvette, G8, Camaro in the mix. SS cars at least add some flash to the mix - hell, the last time I was given a loaner at the shop when my windshield was replaced, I was so BORED with the Impala LS they gave me I damned near fell asleep at the wheel. It was SO BLAND I pulled over to pour some salt packets I lifted from Wendy's just to make it home. The SS cars and trucks at least offer performance and upgrades to most or all of the systems in the car. Toyota add's an 'S' and some ground effects and a decklid spoiler - wow! Adding an 'S' to a Corolla or a Camry does not a sport sedan make. At least Mazda has the 'Speed' division that tweaks the cars. (We do not get the TRD versions of cars you kids in Australia get ). What I hate is there seems to be this excitement over Toyota beating an AMERICAN company that has held a sales advantage in the world for 77 years. I cannot understand this as it is almost as if the U.S. press is excited to see a U.S. company FALL. I do not know what the vendetta against G.M. - and American business in general - is. Why do they ignore Toyota's failings in the market?

optispark vent tube blocked or moisture/dirt on the disk inside the optispark...you have to crank it a few times to fling the debrit of of the optical timing ring inside the optipark before a clean spark output is made. Just my observations from the 1995 that I had.

Beyond the bickering and fact checking - here is what I have to ask to all of you: What does it MATTER? Fact: Toyota is subsidizing thier sales with ultra low leases and further, is flooding the U.S. rental lots. Couple the low leases with high gas prices here in the states, and yes, Toyota will sell more cars than G.M.. It is dollars and cents, people. Fact: G.M. has slowed production output of certain models to retain demand for said product and ensure quality of the cars being put out. At the same time, Toyota has had a LOT of quality issues as of late. The Tundra is a mess. The YJ is tearing itself in places, many models have engines sludging, Sienna Doors breaking...stuff that is NOT happening at G.M.. How long until the long standing quality rep of Toyota is hurt by thier high output? So you can all bicker about who is smarter than who, all I care about are the cars I like to drive and love to look at - and those cars are made by G.M. - Not Toyota. And, before aatbloke thinks I am only loyal to G.M., and a toyota/ Japan basher - I admit to hate Toyota - vehemently. Thier cars are beyond boring and they are overated. Their styling does NOT appeal to me, and I feel like I am driving an appliance when I am in one. Hondas are nice...still not THAT exciting. Mazda is kinda cool, Subaru gets more than a nod from me than it used to -fun cars! BMW - Hell YES. Porsche - not really. Nice to look at, but owning one is not in my future plans. I appreciate cars that are exciting and engaging. Not one design from Toyota in recent memory fits that bill.

I too drove one a couple of weekends ago. My wife wants an HHR for around town, and out of the blue asked me to come to the Chevy dealer and drive one. They Had the Sunburst Orange SS auto on the lot so we took it out. Honestly-that is one HELL of a car! The ride was great, build quality was excellent, and it was quick! This is honestly the first FWD vehicle I have ever fallen in love with. We will be buying one when the lease on the Commander is up. I drove it back to back with a 2LT and the ride and braking difference is night and day. The SS is more confident in all aspects of the drive. Only complaint: no heated seats option. The sport seats were great though. Much better than standard seats.

I drive a 2007 Tahoe and a 2004 Corvette...and am thinking about adding an HHR to my fleet as a daily driver...has anyone else had a thought along these lines due to our current gas prices? Am I crazy?

EASY THERE FELLA! She owns a brewery, that makes her special...back off! Go after the lawyers that want elected, they are the ones hell bent to ruin our country, our cars and to protect the guilty. By the way, did she borrow that necklace from Marge Simpson or Wilma Flintstone?
