  1. That Volt is beautiful - as I did like the concept and all it's quirky details I was concerned about what would happen when it was made 'realistic' for production. I am pleasantly suprised! i would be PROUD to drive that car. And the next gen Prius shown above, as much as I hate everything Toyota, is a marked improvement over the current car. Lamborghini must of had some left over headlights for that design, but overall, I think it is much more attractive than the outgoing unit. And do not forget that when it comes to the Prius, people WANT it to be different looking all over. They WANT to stand out to show the world that THEY are saving the planet. That Humpback Sea Turtle look is on purpose to make it stand out on the road. And they will all be snobs on the road when driving them 45 mph on the freeway and sneering at us whizzing by as we heat the atmosphere with all things internal combustion. Please do not be this way when the Volt hits the streets. Show the Toyo boys that the Chevrolet can drive WITH traffic and not hold it up in the name of snobbery.
  2. I bet you are right on about Lutz being overruled on this one. Of course right now the two we see are heavily camo'd cars. Who knows what they will look like in person. I for one LOVE the HHR SS and want one very badly. They are so hot here in the midwest, that there are NO HHR's or HHR SS's on the lots within 50 miles of me for more than a day or two. In Des Moines, dealers are getting OVER STICKER for them when they hit the lots. You heard that right. My only hope on the HHR re-make is that they make it a bit wider, a little longer and stretch the back seat a bit to make it more usable for actual family hauling abilities when needed. I would own one if they were a smidgen larger in all directions. Glad to see your HHR SS was put back together really well.
  3. :rotflmao: HA! I thought the same thing! HOLY CRAP. Take those off the trucklet and I bet it will get 10 more MPG. Are those OUTRIGGERS for anti-rollover measures or mirrors?
  4. Claimed to be 99% rust free. Needs drivetrain. Be a sweet LT1 swap in! http://greensboro.craigslist.org/cto/795232553.html
  5. As the Nephew of a former Air Force LURP in Viet Nam (he also flew SR-71 and U2 missions) as well as the Son in law of another LURP team member from the same war, my prayers are with you. Follow your gut, and keep your ass low, and your head lower if you decide to do this. Seriously, the money sounds great, but only if you are alive to spend it. Good luck with the decision.
  6. I have made it a goal to NOT sell any cars outside of my 'daily drivers' or main cars from now on. At the end of this year, I will, or should have the '57 Buick wagon paid off - until something else breaks. My Corvette will stay in the family unless something drastic happens. I am ordering the Camaro this Winter. So my garage will have the Buick, the Corvette and the Camaro all side by side or stacked on a lift. Unless my wife starts hounding me on a college fund for the kids, the collecting will continue. Working on building a 4 stall garage double deep and two high right now. Plans are being worked on in my spare time. Cars are a sickness and an addiction. There are worse things to be addicted to I guess!
  7. I would have loved a side by side by side shot to compare sizes, but at least they got the finishing order correct...Camaro first, Mustang second, and the Challenger third but coming up fast (on the Mustang) Now, bring on the G8 ST and we would have 1970 all over again!
  8. I looked at these things yesterday...and to say that they did not trip my trigger is an understatement. I think of safety first, and if I was to drive one of these things, I would first reach into the hoodlet and unplug the airbad relays...all of them. If I was in an accident with that little turd (or any of these small cars in this class) I certainly do not want to live through the experience of getting run over by whatever larger vehicle hits me thanks to an inflatable restraint. For a couple g's more, the Saturn Astra was on the lot down the street and it had usable space in it, felt funky sporty, and was at least attractive to look at. And when I look at a New Aveo 5 for $16k, I start looking over to the used lot and see things like DeVilles, LeSabres, Park Avenues and the Bonneville all falling in the same price line...and the micro car segment is QUICKLY forgotten.
  9. Just Yesterday I spotted the Terminator...yep...a T1000. Those are rarer than Duesenbergs here in the rust belt. Seems like a lot of third gen Camaro and Firebirds have shown an interest in the roads of Iowa this month as well.
  10. Getting back to the Employee Pricing...was strolling the lots here last night (no vultures) and noticed three new Impala's on the lot - they were '09 units. The Impala LT is a great deal for what they ask for it. Most important thing to note was the standard Bluetooth on the LT1 units and up.
  11. the words BUY IT come to my mind almost immediately! The drivetrain is bulletproof (other than the optispark - which is good for at least 90k miles) The police stuff is there, which is a plus, but 1 of 70? RARE? YES! I would bet half have met the crusher by now, especially with steel prices where they are. Does it have the ULTRA RARE power rear quarter windows? These are the small windows on each side just ahead of the D-pillar. Power units were for the 1A2 units only and were designed for K-9 units to get air to the dogs. This would be an awesome car. Get it before some idiot buys it for the demo derby!
  12. Personal favorite of the list: 1958 Olds 88 A-1 condition $75! No wonder there were so many of these things getting scrapped and thrown away! $75 for that much chrome? Wow! I would love to know how much those 'vettes went for as well. The 67 427 4 speed? Thanks for sharing these.
  13. This is going kill sport utility sales - at least the high end units. I know I have been trying to replace my Tahoe that is coming up on lease this fall, and I cannot get even close to my current payment. The residuals have dropped big time. So, much like Chrysler has done, is it time to lower the MSRP on these trucks and sport utilities to bring them into line with market conditions? I have heard that the MSRP's are rising next year on the big utes...I worry that this move will leave a lot of trucks unsold on the lots, and put GM into a larger pickle than they are now.
  14. if you super-glued my testicles to a cannon ball and fired it through a (insert Asian Brand here) dealership, you could not get me to sign up for any of the 'cars' they sell on my way through. NOTHING is appealing, even with tweaks!
  15. That sounded so good! Wow!
  16. Now if GM would only give me the Chevrolet Nomad that they showed us so many years ago with an Ecotec turning the rear wheels built on the Kappa platform...a small/midsize car with character and panache and utility that is targeted at people who drive to work alone and may need a second or third seat once in a while! Come on GM...Give me my Nomad RWD 4 cylinder!!
  17. This very morning, I was stopped at a light in my Corvette (24 mpg mixed driving btw) and an ass in a RENTAL Prius pulls up next to me and gives me a smug look. I just laughed and said; "Dude! You are in a FRICKEN RENTAL CAR PRIUS...and I can AFFORD the car AND THE GAS!" He sank down in his underpadded seat and looked straight ahead. The guy behind him in a Jeep Wrangler with the doors off laughed out loud at the ass clown in the Prius. Made my morning. Speaking of pollitically incorrect cars, the looks I get in the '57 Buick on the road are classic. Lots of people just look at you like you are an idiot for polluting the world in a dinosaur like mine. I just smile at them in their little $h!-box Hondas and Toyotas and think: My bumper has more metal in it than the entire car they are driving!
  18. I agree that the motor is the wrong way in these...but it does drive nicely, and this truck is screwed together really well. I really found it to be a great driving unit. Still prefer my Tahoe.
  19. 51_years.pdf Here they are!
  20. Mom just picked up her Enclave and it was parked next to my wagon here at work. I could not resist snapping a photo of them side by side. It is amazing how far cars have come in a relatively short amount of time. The sfaety, economy, comfort, convenience...it is all LIGHT YEARS ahead of what was on the roads 51 years ago! I cannot imagine what cars will be like in another 50 years! What further amazed me is the length of the two cars - it is almost a dead heat between the two of them!
  21. Sixty8, I found a car for you...1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible - 1 owner, white over red leather, CONTINENTAL kit, wire wheels and custom grille (factory he thinks) To top it off, owner claims it is a garage kept FUEL INJECTED 500 CI and she has only gone 33,000 miles. They are in their 80's and want $14,000 for her.
  22. I will try to buy a Tahoe LTZ off of the dealer this week. We shall see. My lease on my Tahoe is up in February. Will keep you all posted.
  23. here is a sweety...Coupe! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks...d=p4506.c0.m245 Price is a bit high for her though!
  24. WHERE did you find the Z28.com diecast...must have! Nevermind - found one on Ebay for $9.99 buy it now. Saves me gas! Cannot wait to have in my Camaro Collection. I may buy the green one too!
  25. Being as it is a Toyota...I am still going to go out on a limb and tell you Congratulations on a set of wheels to call your own! There is nothing better in the world than your own set of wheels. Enjoy, and remember the shiny side stays UP. My first car was a 1982 Honda Accord Hatchback gold on gold, 5 - speed with a leaky sunroof and flatspotted tires - and I loved it. I will never forget the first day that I was able to drive on my own - popped in a Depeche Mode cassette and started my journey down life's highway. Aptly, the first song that played off that cassette was the Behind The Wheel/Route 66 mix. Loved driving ever since. Good luck with it and enjoy.
