  1. the Morman Meteor! Duesenberg built by Ab Jenkins...beautiful car!
  2. "Maybe the new guy will make a performance car with a DOHC engine, rather than modified engines from the Silverado." And maybe they will finally get rid of the archaic leaf spring suspension under the Corvette as well, right? Give me a break...GM has been making some of the most powerful and efficient engines on the market - name one car with the performance of the Corvette that can average over 25 mpg in mixed driving? Must be those stupid pushrods, huh?
  3. yeah, I have seen the clips online...spectacular breastistas!!!
  4. Julie Bowen...her eyes practically talk to you. Jennifer Conolly...unbelievable. Anne Hathaway...brown eyed girl with GREAT Assets. I am sure I will think of more that I cannot live without!
  5. Prayers are with you and your family. Really glad to see he is going to be o.k.. He is going to be pretty sore after that one for quite some time. As for the Ranger going to the crusher; it really doesn't look like there was much more you could do with it than that. Kick his ass for me as well for not wearing his belt. Bet he does not make the same mistake again. Did your parents start wearing seatbelts after all of this???
  6. BMW has amazing leases to move the 3-series...deals that are NOT being matched at Cadillac.
  7. So, Barack is seeming to be a lot of people's choices on here, and frankly, that scares the hell out of me! He is a SOCIALIST who just this week told a plumber to his face that he wants to re-distribute the plumbers EARNED wealth to people who are 'behind him' in making it because they do not have his opportunity. I am not excited about Mccain all that much, if at all, but come on! The other side wants to TAKE YOUR TAXES and GIVE it to people who DO NOT WORK or EARN "enough" to be in the Middle Class! What is the cut off for "enough", and when the people Barack wants to raise taxes on decide to put their money elsewhere - i.e. tax shelters, or become creative with accountants - where is the tax money going to come from? The Middle Class! By the way, the 11% of the middle class that Obama keeps saying has disappeared during the Bush years...you know where they went? To the UPPER CLASS! This is the CHANGE that he is after, and that scares the hell out of me, a guy who works 70+ hours a week in a small family owned business that is a BULLS EYE in the earnings that Obama wants to go after for higher taxes to give to those 'less fortunate' than me. That is why I am voting for McCain - the lessor to two evils.
  8. My guess would be the electric gate lift actuator motor. I am sure this puppy has an electric lift gate.
  9. I second that one, Cletus...although I will probably be in a GM product so that I go out in STYLE.
  10. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,437522,00.html Sad news... and I guess Chrysler cannot attract young buyers even with new product! ( and I intend NO disrespect to her, her family, or the ANYONE involved in this story.) I hope if I make it to 90, I have the shutzpah to buy a 400 horse pony car and get it loose!
  11. Chris: That Audi in your sig is one sexy beast! There is a black one in my neighborhood and it is simply jaw dropping. His sounds downright EVIL...what is in those things????
  12. Same questions with the same answers from both of the candidates. Yawn. Seriously, are these our ONLY choices that have a chance to win? Anybody else got a chance than these two???? PLEASE?
  13. Please NO! Don't take away my Pandora and my surfing at work! I need to have an outlet dang it! I SAID I WAS SORRY! (stomping feet and making fists with hands... ) IT WAS ANOTHER POSTERS FAULT ON ANOTHER SITE,,,BAN HIM!!!
  14. I just heard from a very reliable source inside GM...The ZR1 is NOT CANCELLED. Sorry to spread a rumor that is unfounded.
  15. I was over at Digital Corvettes last night and a headline popped up: ZR1 Production Halted. ALL ORDERS STOPPED OR PLACED IN LIMBO or flat out CANCELLED!!!! See Below: http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/forums/sho...584#post1244584 The world may be coming to an end!!!
  16. Well, as I said previously: Two (or more!) are always better than one. Just remember the rules for beater-ness is it has to be a new to you beater, you cannot buy a new car and use the old car you already have as your beater. There is no fun in that. I think for what you are describing your desires for the car is to get you to and fro cheaply without needing a ton of money while splitting the mileage between your current Mazda and the new car. I would say a 4 cylinder something or other would really get that job done quite nicely and keep you from having a new car payment for quite some time. Further to this point, let me also introduce to the discussion the Granny Car. You see them all the time, and while they may not be exciting to look at, they provide excellent carefree driving for years for very little coin. I am talking about Buick Centurys, The Cutlass Cierra Broughams or the Chevrolet Celebritys that are ALWAYS out there with only 35K to 40k miles on them for $1500 or best offer. The very unexciting nature of these cars is the very reason they are ripe for the plucking. They run well for years, cost very little if anything to operate, and are out there for a song. The 4 cylinder variants are great for high MPG and they are safe reliable transportation. I have a buddy that bought a Century (86) with 85k on the clock for $900. He drove that car for 8 years and 145,000 more miles. He finally junked it recently due to the trans starting to go, the rust winning the battle on the body, and the rear brake lines being pinched off due to broken lines. He drove it with all of the problems I just described for three years! Give it a thought! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks...d=p4506.c0.m245 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks...d=p4506.c0.m245 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks...d=p4506.c0.m245 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks...d=p4506.c0.m245
  17. All of US are to blame for our current situation. WE THE PEOPLE hire these idiots to important positions and then do NOT hold them accountable for their actions. WE are the ones who are screwing the pooch by voting these bozos back in to office for another term, keeping them in position only adds to their power and the corruption. NOBODY should want to be a public servant for more than one term! If you want to effect change, vote out ALL INCUMBENT politicians. Get rid of them! Are you tired of seing Pelosi or Barney Frank on T.V.? Then don't VOTE THEM BACK IN. It is that simple. Get them all out of there. And make it a point that whoever we vote into office in their place takes the initiative to END the greed and corruption in our Government, and the first thing they should do is put an end to the golden parachutes that all these idiots enjoy! Stop the worlds greatest healthcare and the pensions that have a cost of living increase in perpetuity until they die (and transfer to spouses!!!) Government officials are parasites that live off of our backs and hard work. Nary a one has EVER contributed to society and will never amount to anything more than a leech on the taxpayer's wallet. Get RID OF THEM. Enforce a term limit, and hold whoever you vote in to WHAT YOU WANT DONE. Impeach judges that legislate from the bench (their job is to interpret and enforce the law in situations pertaining to a crime/worng done...NOT re-write laws against the will of the people!) America, we need to wake up and see who is at the controls of this country - NOW! I was a Bush Supporter in the first election, and am a registered independent, and I cannot wait until he and the rest of the idiots in Washington are GONE! Obama has NOT had any tough (or any for that matter) questions asked of him nor has his backround with the people he hangs with been delved into. Not exactly the job interview I want given for the top job in the country. McCain is perhaps the lessor of two evils, but not my first choice at all for the job. Why do we look at 50 women for MS. America, but only two for president? The only way we will abolish the two party system in the country is to put an end to the long termers and start with new blood every 4-8 years! As for the mail from Obama that is not recycleable...if you hate the guy so much, shred it slowly or burn it. It should entertain you.
  18. As a final point to this: I am more apt to have a beater when there is a 'special car' that I do not want to drive on salt covered roads. Not knocking your car, but a Mazda with 100,000 clicks on it is already on it's way to the back lot if you were to trade it in anyway. At this point, you are probably beyond 'saving' the value of the Mazda due to mileage/vintage. You would probably be better off just driving your car, as it looks nice and probably does not owe you anything. Now, if you were driving a new Camaro or Corvette, or a limited production Miata or something rare, then it makes a lot of sense to have the beater for the every day driving care-free motoring. Sorry if you take this as a dig, but it really is not. Your Mazda looks like a nice car and is a rare color, and I mean you and your car NO disrespect. I respect EVERYONE'S Ride(s) as wheels is wheels!
  19. I remember this car when it was original...and yes, there was a steel steering wheel in the one my neighbor had. His WAS in decent, played with shape until we decided to tow in on a long rope on our bikes and drug it into the curb a few hundred times. It was really totaled when we were finished playing with it. Looked like it had fallen off of a cliff. Stupid kids...
  20. Your question is a double edged sword. Yes, it is prohibitively expensive to buy another car, insure it, drive it, and maintain it versus driving your current car as is. You will NOT recoup the money you outlay for a very long time, if ever. There is no financial reasoning that will ever make this a good idea. Same argument goes for Hybrids and diesels. The paybacks are 10's of thousands of miles or MORE and the car you find will NOT last that long. With that said: HELL YES! There is a wonderful pleasantness that comes from having a car that you less than care about. The park anywhere you please freedom, the answering of "NO" when asked if you want to buy the car wash at the gas pump, the "Go ahead and pull in front of me" attitude that you will exude while traversing the highways in your high mileage beater. Rock chips and door dings BE DAMNED! The smile you will get when you look down at the Def Leopard Hysteria cassette stuck in the Kraco stereo - WITH 5-Band Equalizer!!!. Plus, there is always the nostalgic feeling you will get when you are driving down the road admiring your new for '92 delux consolette or the 4WS Steering system you found in the Honda Prelude Si you picked up in an autotrader you picked up on your way out of the grocery store. Hey, become a high miler and find yourself a CRX DX or Geo Metro GSi 3-banger and watch the folks in line for gas stare at you in a jealous rage. I can actually say that I enjoy driving a beater more than my primary cars just for these reasons. I am actually in search of such a smile maker right now.
  21. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks...d=p4506.c0.m245 it is at $1500 right now. What a car!
  22. :gay:
  23. Nope. and that is what I said in my statement that here we have something that GM has been putting on a car for around 100 years or so...(probably 80)...YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD KNOW HOW TO DO IT BY NOW! I For one am pissed about this, as it gives fodder to the rags to bitch about GM quality again just as things were looking so much brighter. Granted, this is a minor deal, but come on! This is a proven and known technology, not like an infra-red heat seaking cup holder attachment that can also spot a hotty for you while you keep your eyes on the road. That is something I would expect to break, NOT the wipers, and not after all the testing they put the cars through.
  24. SWEET! That is a good looking Challenger!
  25. Having just bought one of these, I was not happy to read this. However, it is a minor little deal by the sounds of things. What pisses me off is the simple fact that GM has been building cars with windshield wipers for what - a hundred years? Why is this a problem on a new car? Reinventing the wheel did not need to happen with the wipers for any reason in my book. And why does any recall for a big 3 automaker make front page news immediately, yet anything with Toyota - however minor, say frames rusting in half on the Tacoma - never gets any play at all in the press?
