  1. I wouldn't worry about the controls on the door being out of reach, most people in the back of one of these will be having the door opened for them. .
  2. Sweet!
  3. Speaking as a minivan owner, I am not all that impressed with ANY of the Edmunds choices. The Toyota and Honda are overpriced and ugly, the powertrains are good, hte resale is high, but I will drive it until it dies. The Kia is a joke. It looks nice, the price is right, but geez, what a rattletrap. Our local Kia dealer is, for the second time, offering a "buy one, get one free" deal on its vehicles. That doesn't really inspre any product confidence. Maybe in a few years, if the product improves. I compare them to Hyundai of about 15 years ago. The Nissan is a nice van. They fixed the interior this year, it has a strong powertrain, the added style is nice, might be my choice of the bunch. The Chrysler is all that is wrong with MINIvans. I have a short wheelbase, soon to be non-existant in the marketplace. The T&C is a long wheelbase luxo barge, not a basic family hauler. The Saturn Relay is something I have actually looked at as a replacement for my Caravan, but it is narrower, the reliability isn't any better than what I have, but I think it is relatively attractive. I am hoping the 2008 Mopar twins are nice, because I am running out of options if I want to buy a new MINIvan.
  4. That arched roofline is worthless in a minivan. Cuts down on the cargo space terribly. I an very disappointed if these reports are true. . .
  5. The only foreign automaker is Subaru? And no Fords? Complaints about outdated technology for the GM vans and Rendezvous, but doesn't mention the Crown Victoria? Complains abot ugly Frankenstein cars but no Toyota FJ or Yaris? Seems to be an incomplete list. .
  6. The headlights make it look sleepy, but other than that, I like it. They should ofer the I-6 tho, since they won't be needing it for the Trailblazer, I hope they don't kill the engine. It is too good to waste...
  7. If you change the front clip, THAT is what the Imperial should be.
  8. Really, this could benefit both companies. If they have a merged sales front, Isuzu can build the trucks, Mitsubishi can build the cars. Remember, Isuzu did most of the work on the Colorado/Canyon, the finish is a bit weak, but the engineering is sound...
  9. At least it wouldn't really cost GM too much money because all the tooling and design has already been done if they use the Chinese parts. They can import the parts on the same ships that carry the Equinox engines. . .
  10. I see that the topic has degenerated into joking, but I am serious. I have no problem with DRL's, or airbags, or ABS being optional, but I want to choose for myself. I am not comfortable with ABS, but I DO see its benefits, I just am so used to pumping my brakes that I would be more of a danger with ABS. Airbags can be a good thing, but in cases of short drivers or small passengers, the ability to turn them off would be greatly welcomed. I have the airbags in my vehicle on as I am tall enough to be away from the wheel and not in danger. DRL's on the other hand I hate. I resent being told by GM, Toyota, and all the rest that I am too stupid to know when to turn on my lights. If DRL's are such a lifesaver, why aren't they on the rear as well, like some places in Europe? Not to mention that some militaries in bright areas use lights as camouflage? This is ridiculous. I understand that there ARE people that are this stupid, but there are also many more people that cannot be bothered to use turn signals, should we make those automatic as well? Should all people in cars be required to wear helmets because they are proven safer than going without? Hopefully I have shed a little light on where I am coming from. I have no problem with safety, but I don't like being coddled to death, I am smart enough to choose what I need to get by.

  12. I refer to DRL's as "idiot lights" and will not own a vehicle with them unless it can be defeated. (you have to know which wire to cut in the right relay) I know GM offers a couple of vehicles with the ability to defeat the DRL's, why not on everything? Same goes for airbags. In my wife's car we have the fuse pulled, as she is a petite woman and would get creamed. We always use our seatbelts though, without fail. Why can't there be a "keyed defeat switch" like in the front seat of pickups for all vehicles?

    Retro

Well, if the Trailblazer is going to be replaced by the Chevy version of the Acadia, that frees up the name Blazer again. . .
  14. eh, I don't like it. I have never been a fan of SUV's that have an arched roof, i prefer flat all the way back to maximize cargo room.
  15. I've got the standard catalog of imported cars, but none of the others. Good information, but is a little brief in places, if a model is around for several years, they assume sometimes it doesn't change much if at all. A good resource to be sure, but the internet needs a version too I think. .
  16. Does anyone know of a website where I can find specifications of vehicles of the past? How can I find the wheelbase of a 57 chevy? Or the width and length of a 69 thunderbird? wikipedia doesn't have it, google hasn't been helpful, any suggestions?

    ...

go over to left lane news and do a search. i like it. should be a contender in the market i hope.
  18. Yeah, production started on Aug 15th, but this Nitro had been at the fair since the 10th. . I like the look of it, but don't like ANY interiors at Dodge lately. I sat in a Tahoe at the fair as well, and the dash was great, but the door left me cold. This was a LT model, the door was one big chunk of dark charcoal Rubbermaid. I had expected some character lines, chrome or cloth or something, anything. Bleah.
  19. Actually, it's a 6-speed
  20. I visited the Iowa State Fair this year, and at the tent of the Local Dooge dealer they had a pre-production Nitro. The gentleman I asked about it said "There are only 4, this was shipped here from Detroit!" I don't know about that, but here it is: Looks pretty nice in person
  21. Yeah the Challenger is a lot of the current Charger platform, that helps hurry things, where the Camaro is more original. My favorite is the early clay, sketch with the number 4 in the lower right corner. A little too retro perhaps, but still my fav. I wish they would change the taillights tho, the ones onthe concept are waaay too AMC Javelin. . .
  22. Honestly, all posturing aside, Toyota could be a problem for GM. Everyone needs to remember that they DID build the best compact trucks for about 20 years, from the late 70s to the early 90's, better and longer lasting than anyone. When they decided to try the large truck market they brought a Dakota sized joke. No one has ever accused Toyota of getting it right the first time. The second Tundra was better, but still not that good. I don't think the new Tundra will be the truck to compete, but it shows they haven't given up. If they can figure how to translate the superiority if their compact market biggie sized, something will come along. The first couple of generations of Camry were pretty lame too, but look who owns the mid sized market now. . . I am no fan of Toyota (outside of the early 80's Celica) but this needs to be looked at in the long view.
  23. Seriously, how hard would it be, (or have been) to replace the awful dash with the one from the Cobalt? Underneath they are probably 95%the same, I think it would have helped sales if they had done this when the changed the fascia.. .
  24. Does anyone know where these will be appearing in person? I am going to the Iowa State Fair, and if they are there I will take pictures and report. Before you laugh, the Silverado has been the best selling vehicle in the state for a few years, they want to sell to farmers, and there have been instances of new models appearing. the last one I saw was the refreshed front of the Ford Superduty, before it his showrooms. Anyhow, can someone confirm or deny?
  25. The country's favorite minivan is still the Dodge Caravan. Even being a fan, i don't know why it is, the redesign can't come soon enough. .
