  1. HMMMMMMMMM CHECK THE OIL I PERHAPS SHOULD DO and that occasional burning smell, thought it was heated seats too warm http://gm.oemdtc.com/6987/pip5417-diagnostic-tip-oil-leak-from-crankshaft-rear-oil-seal-2016-2017-buick-chevrolet http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/113-general-discussion-generation-9/86810-oil-leak.html http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/686906-post7.html
  2. the other bit i will add here while its relevant to tiny engines in this thread. my tiny turbo 1.5 in my malibu gets stellar gas mileage when the weather is warm and nice. Takes a much bigger hit to mpg in winter conditions. I have probably had 20-30% drop most of the time this winter, sometimes more.
  3. You hit it on the head dfelt. It's just like why all door knobs became levers. Twisting and grasping is very difficult for more people than others realize.
  4. The great AWD pony car experiment, should be interesting to see if challenger taps a market nerve. Pony cars are toys and that's why their sales are tanking in the age of CUV's
  5. Small car market is still slow plus way too big msrp's = plant shutdown. Gas prices will go up though. Old Cruze was so well known and recognized. The new one isn't recognizable in comparison. There hasn't been any advertising either really. Get the price down. Advertise it. Hope gas prices go up a bit. New equinox will sell yuge
  6. I liked this when i test drove it a few months ago. Currently having a 15 Town and Country it was interesting to see the differences. To be honest, i like the full console in my 15. The cutout in the floor to put a purse is great for women but i prefer a console with real armrests. They don't really have a good console or dash in the new one, IMO the bottom part of the dash and the console needs a whole redesign. The dash looks like a bus dash. Not sold on the twist knob for shifter either. The Shifter on the dash in our 15 is not awful, but its probably not where most initially think of it. I think the knob may be hard for some people to twist and grasp. I love the button layout on the console on our 15. The new one looks too random. Styling wise, the interior on the new one is more contemporary and has a real infotainment system. The 8th passenger is actually a nice improvement too. I think the third row may be tighter in the new one. We used our third row a lot more a couple years ago than we do now. Fortunately the Pacifica feels nimbler and not so trucky. I had heard they may make the new van available AWD but since i hear they backed away from that. I do think it would help sell more of them to do that, but then they may lose some Jeep sales too.
  7. regardless of whether engines are small and tiny or turbo or have ten speeds, the vehicle weight means as much to FE. And we've done all we can for awhile in weight savings and tiny turbos. I'd rather see some tax incentives to push more volt type vehicles in addition to leveling out the FE and emissions standards for awhile. Maybe give some tax credits for continued FE improvements rather than mandates. a 4000 pound sedan with a 7.5 second 0-60 in 2000 vs. 2016 probably ends up with the same real world FE anyways.
  8. i've always liked the outlander sport, except its powertrains are a bit underwhelming. the outlander is a tremendous value for the price, and is very spacious, but the styling is a turd. outlander sport is a great counter punch to a Chevy trax, but may not be perceived as large as say, an Escape. Methinks this new model may be a better fit to compete with the Escape etc. Then the graying Outlander Sport can take over for the Lancer at the base of the model lineup. They can discount the sport because its old and ask more $$$$ for the new model because its new. Mits can compete so much better if they can play to the CUV segment rather than sedans and hot hatches etc. Things like the lower prices and 7 year warranty factor so much more into purchase decisions then.
  9. My 16 Malibu drives and feels unlike any of the old GM products. GM is truly designing for global platforms and feel. And it's great. AU has not much more than only a 1 million vehicle sales a year. Their products they were building were not in line with what was going on globally. I think if their buyer base gets more in line with global offerings, and maybe they improve their ability to be a manufacturer again, then maybe Holden won't have to rebadge. The global GM offerings are far better than any homecooked AU stuff. (That comment would exclude the SS / commodore high performance models, which are niche products anyways)
  10. hence my question about 'did they make it narrower'. If all they did was stretch the new acadia platform without widening the interior cabin, then its set up for epic fail. Traverse was one of few vehicles out there that truly could fit 3 in the second and third row comfortably. i want to see the hip and shoulder room specs for this new rig, second and third row. I can bet that is where the space is lost. ---new I found specs of the 18 and compared the interior dimensions, and to my surprise, not any of them were dramatically different. Except cargo volume. Strange. In any case, it seems based on dimensions, the new Traverse will be as generally commodious as the old one.
  11. even though this was a good deal for the level of it performance, i can't help but think if it were 10k cheaper it would have seen any increased sales volume. styling i think is the major miss here. i think now with so much crossover market, to consider a new SS in the future would be pointless
  12. the feminization of this thing was expected and it actually will probably spur some new interest as this is where more of the crossover market it. The owners of the current boxy style may actually see better resale because of this. that said, it looks fine and they didn't screw the pooch on it. The floating roof is something they could risk with low volume GMC that they could not probably risk on the Equinox. And its still more butch than the Equinox or the Envision, so in the GM love triangle it still wears the pants. I guess this whole softening of GMC look will probably pay off. All GMC really needs to be is the GM brand you buy if you don't want to be caught dead in a Chevy around your freinds but you still like GM and can't afford Caddies. Interior is really nice, probably nicer than the Acadia. On that alone, this thing will sell well. Love the fold flat front seats, had them in two of my Fords, really really helps smaller vehicles like this become way more useful at ladder, 2x4, and Christmas tree time. Really do like the diesel choice but to be honest either this or the Equinox could have had a Malibu style hybrid choice as well IMO (hey did you hear gas will be back up in price soon) I'm sure GM thinks this new smaller Terrain can sell for 20,000 more than a comparable Kia Sportage.........
  13. interesting interior. I like the big dashboard floating wedge. exterior has some interesting things. the overall shape without the surfacing is nothing amazing. a 2.5 + cvt though i lose any interest as well
  14. horrific looking dashboard. lateral sliding hit will be yuge with uber protective mommies and their little ones who want to keep as far away from the tbone area on the side as much as possible. I almost like that feature more than sto n go
  15. dumpy looking from the side proportion, but not deal breaker so. This is sort of a half ass effort but its effective since now people will come into a VW showroom again looking for something people actually want in numbers. this can help VW move on from the diesel scandal.
  16. would have been nice to see a better straight side on picture. but overall i don't mind this. It's better than a Prius for example. It energizes their look a bit, even if its a bit awkward. It sort of brings them up to Kia's level. Interior not bad either but does look plasticky. still would not enter my mind for buying one.
  17. hence my question about 'did they make it narrower'. If all they did was stretch the new acadia platform without widening the interior cabin, then its set up for epic fail. Traverse was one of few vehicles out there that truly could fit 3 in the second and third row comfortably. i want to see the hip and shoulder room specs for this new rig, second and third row. Not sure if true but i had heard current Traverse could haul sheets of drywall. Probably not the case now. I can bet that the width is where the space is lost.
  18. this is trending in the direction i was suggesting in a Chevy thread that maybe Chevy needs to take the Impala, packaging and proportion wise. Of course the Chevy would be more interesting.
  19. craft vanilla, Audi been serving it up for decades now
  20. the Terrain will be more popular than the Envision no matter what and seeing this new Terrain now helps me to understand that making the Envision in lower numbers in China can make sense.
