  1. Harris returns to head GM public relations DETROIT -- Beset by bad press and a skeptical Wall Street community, General Motors is bringing back its former public relations chief, Steve Harris. According to a company insider, Harris will resume his former job as vice president of global communications on Wednesday, Feb. 1. He replaces Tom Kowaleski, 54, who took that job after Harris retired in 2004. Kowaleski is leaving GM to pursue other interests. According to a company insider, senior GM executives have concluded that Kowaleski -- who is known for his product expertise -- is not well-suited to be GM's spokesman during its financial crisis. Harris, 59, was widely acclaimed for his pr skills at GM and the Chrysler group. He will hold GM's top communications job for 18 months or so while GM grooms his successor. *CAN SOMEONE POST A LINK FOR THE WHOLE ARTICLE*

  6. maybe all they need to do is fire 50% of their staff, and replace most of the factory workers or shut the factories down. bring in some new energetic blood interested in competing.

  8. actually, that Optima looks darn nice. still, its a KIA though. the interior looks nice and simple and gimmick free. looks low grade, but a decent deisgn in spite of what appears to be budget materials.

  14. the ONLY reason you'd buy a Kia is price. Don't say warranty, because the only reason the warranty is there is to validate your acceptance of the price as being the main reason for buying the car. someone give me another valid reason besides cheap price why someone would buy a Kia. -waiting-

    FJ40

la times "The FJ Cruiser does exactly what it sets out to do — inspire drooling materialistic poseur-lust in hip, young urbanites. You can't beat the price of $23,000. But if you're a serious off-roader pining for your old steel coffin FJ, keep on pining. "
  16. what a putz. he's lucky he's got a job. if no toyota, he'd be peddling chia pets at walgreens. he's just a high priced wh0-re for the puppet master back in Japan.
  17. AW Press drew a laugh with a recommendation he offered for anyone depressed about the current state of affairs in the industry. "Do me a favor and visit the maternity ward of any hospital," he said. "Every one of those little blue and pink baskets represents 14 or 15 purchase cycles." - Toyota is benefiting from what he termed a tailwind. But Press pointed out that the industry is cyclical, and Toyota's fortunes could decline, too. "We have no interest in GM declining. We have no interest in becoming number one," he said. "GM is a global icon. They support the economy, and they represent the strength of the industry. There is no joy in the difficulties they're having." Most Toyota customers do not often cross-shop GM, Ford and Chrysler products anyway, he said. Press attributed part of Toyota's success to Japan's history as a nation of rice farmers. "What that means is that one family could not support itself on a rice farm," he said. "Because of the labor involved, it took five to 10 families working together in one unit just to survive. What that did is foster a culture where people grew up working together for the benefit of the group
  18. Kia is such a pile of crap. I hope they go away someday.
  19. AW DETROIT -- Watch out, Chevrolet. Kia Motors America has you in its cross hairs. That caution from COO Len Hunt reflects marketing data showing that Chevrolet is the brand most frequently shopped by prospective Kia buyers, except for Hyundai, he told the Automotive News World Congress. "When we take Hyundai out, Chevrolet, with its sporty image, is our biggest cross-shopping brand," Hunt said. "So be careful, that's where our customers are coming from."
  20. that rear window shape is similar between the old ody and the sedona i'd still get a chrsyler (and i hate chrysler) before a piece of sht kia.
  21. they can send Chris Bosh here to Minn! We have several #2 picks now!!!!!! I'd love Bosh on our team. Wally World looks even more gay in a celtics uniform than he did in a Twolves uni.
  22. because GM don't know their head from their ass most of the time
  23. minivan minivan congrats
  24. GM still needs to make the 3.6 standard in this car, and the six speed automatics can't come soon enough. the mpg and accelration would both benefit and would be commensurate with the feature content of cars in this price range.
