GT500:An overpriced pony not living up to the hype
regfootball replied to Northstar's topic in The Lounge
I just now realized we are talking about this mustang version, not the Ford GT....... -
hunch, the VUE hybrid will be the first hybrid to connect with the real middle class, because it carries no social pretense other than give good value and good mpg in a good real world solution way. I am sure Toyota will attempt to totally belittle GM's effort here....i hope it backfires.
-
major screw up, the 2.5 gets a stick and the larger motor does not. Proof that Toyota doesn't want to play hardcore. Pansies. I do like the IS interior. Too bad my 3 year old won't fit in the back seat.

yeah, everyonce in awhile i say something true and heartfelt.....

not sure either. my diamantes were trouble free, but dull, just like a Camlee. the endeavors and galants i had as loaners were very sporty and fun to drive. The Galants and Endeavors have been very trouble free. I'd rather see them stay than Kia or even Suzuki. If any Asian maker would leave here I wish it be toyota and Hyundai. Oh wait, Toyota is American. Sorry for the freudian slip. Mitsubishi's problems have all been marketing and feature content related. It started with the free credit thing and then it morphed into them being horrible at figuring out how to proerly equip and price and market trim packages in addition to some styling and interior material quality gaffes. In a lot of ways their decline parallels some of the things GM has had as a strike against them. In order for Mitsubishi to ever gain ground back, it has to start with a competitive Lancer, and fixing the Galants problems. They should still push the Evo and maybe get a Turbo Eclsipse going again. The Outlander, of all things, could save Mitusbishi yet. Mitsu's beggest problem is not forming a stable global ally partner. If they had one, they could weather the storm. Hate to say it, but they are kind of SOL now.

GM builds excellent and popular large SUV's that SUCK FUEL. And the public has been buying all the new 07's up like fire. I saw assloads of them on the interstate this weekend. WHAT IS THE GODDAMN TROUBLE IN GIVING THE PUBLIC WHAT THEY WANT AND MARKETING THEM AND SELLING THEM? Sure, GM lacks some more smaller cars, but they do sell some. The Ion, G5, Cobalt, 4 cyl. Malibu, Vibe, all get great mpg! Don't want one? TFB! Go buy your Xa and hope you survive the side impact! Doesn't the Sequouia get horrific mileage, especially for its miniscule size? Are they still selling fuel sucking GX Lexus and Landcruisers? The new Tundra is coming out soon. It sucks fuel and guess what! ITS UGLY TOO! Hold all your comments until we see what kind of cash Toyota has to put on the hood of those! 1.99 gas alone won't make those any less ugly!

hey Ms. C. Maynard.......if GM selling ONLY 275,000 Impalas this year is SUCH a frickin problem, then why on my 600 mile trip this weekend did i see COUNTLESS new 06 Impalas, all types, LT's, LTZ's even a couple SS? I saw two new 07 Camrys. As a matter of fact, I saw an equivalent of your DOUCHEBAG full of Camry's this weekend....and guess what, NO LIE, all the frickin Toyotas I saw this weekend were being drivin by OLD ASS HELL FARTS.....no one under 50 for sure. I parked next to a couple of blue hairs at a rest stop. I was surprised either of them could drive, they were so old. My God, Toyota is becoming a brand for geriatrics and whiners only. Liberal pansies with no capacity to think for themselves, much less hit the toilet with accuracy when they pee, IF THEY CAN PEE. News flash, TOYOTA has become the poster brand for folks who have no ability to think for themselves. They are the only ones selling cars to this ever growing group of followers and do-nothings.......meanwhile, all the other brands divvy up sales of all the others folks in the country. Miss C. Maynard, there are a few points of interest in there you ought to re-read and get into your deaf skull. First off 45 percent repeat buyers....whoa! when is that a problem? Wow, 15 years of dominance in a very profitable market segment. and they should YIELD THIS? Impala selling 20% fleet and Camry 10%...first off, that's an alarming number for Camry..I've never seen it quoted that high although we all know Toyo has been quietly dumping cars into fleets for awhile degrading their value.....but 20% of 275,000 isn't really that much more than 10% of 400,000+. Impala sales are up 6.4%. and what is wrong with GM tackling the market with many models? If the hardware is improved to top notch status and each variation is executed properly and serves different buyers' needs? Maybe is a BETTER way of serving the market you DOUCHEBAG. At some point you cannot sell the same car to everybody and Toyota will hit that soon. Hyundai and Kia will hone in the Camry segment and what is Toyota left with? GM's problem has never been doing it right because they are run by beancounting idiots who seek to do their best at shortchanging the public, but someday this will get fixed. When that day comes, then Toyota will get crushed. I was reading my Car and Drivel this weekend and their Camry 2.4SE review. I find it curious the idiot engineers at Toyota would have to sacrifice a folding rear seat in return for adequately stiffening the car's chassis for anything besiedes geriatric duty. SAD. To top it off, their SE model with manual transmission is not available in the 6 cylinder which is what an enthusiast would want....only the wheezing 4. NICE JOB. To top it off, the Camry styling is dull and derivitive. Not just bland. The new Impala is sharp and tidy if boring. But still its a nicer design and judging by my sales eye, the Impala is flying off the floor. If every GM division had an Impala in the showroom, this b-tch would by lying in bed sucking her thumb because she'd have no lame ass 'journalist' job to sit and write about this crap. An article about selling 275,000 cars but yet using it as an opportunity to take a jab at GM. What a misguided hoor.

panther, you're far too kind to Ms. Maynard. The word to describe her that is more appropriate starts with a C and ends with an NT, and has another vowel inbetween them.

*found this on another forum, from some Japanese sales report* New Mitsubishi Outlander Japan's Best Selling SUV 19,000 sales since launch in mid-October Customer confidence demonstrated European launch to follow Since its home market launch in October 2005, the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander has amassed more sales than any other SUV in Japan, placing it not only ahead of its own sales targets but also well ahead of the competition. Accumulated sales of 18,921 put new Outlander at the top of the 6-month October-March SUV sales chart, ahead of the Toyota Harrier* and Toyota RAV4; Outlander was also top seller in November, December and February. Outlander’s closest rivals (Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail) each registered over 4,000 fewer sales than Outlander**, which outsells the Honda CR-V by more than three-to-one***. With an original sales target of 2,000 per month, new Outlander’s to-date sales figure represents an achievement rate of almost 160%.

i love how toyota is so quick to try to come off as American, but you never hear Lexus try to refer to themselves in any way shape or form as American. How's that for trying to have your cake and eat it too, or using a double standard.

considering that a cheap ass car radio can be bought for like 20 bucks at Checker, it really amounts to Honda being outright pompous for not giving the customer a radio. if you're like GM or Ford you build 2-3 million of the same ugly head unit and it probably ends up costing like 18 dollars a unit. Quite simply, Honda thinks they are above the customer but that $h! will get them in trouble over time.
