Netflix just delivered to me POSEIDON. I figured Emmy Rossum+lots of water has got to equal Oscar material. Yet, reviews are not good. Anyone seen it yet? I'm doing the 5 minute fast forward view for my first pass.

kudos to tama. big time. your repsonse was well crafted and spot on. Farago is exposed as a whiny little pussy who can't take an opposite point of view, and thus, is not even close to being any sort of journalist.....just merely a blogger with an attitude. Yep, TTAC has no cred, its just a prettier blog site. This is something the journalist community must deal with now before it gets out of hand. If our next wave of journalists is resigned to not even addressing the other side of any issues, we are in serious trouble and will be held hostage in culture and media by these self appointed pricks. So if I have this right, journalists today have no integrity and they are not teaching proper journalism in school. or, this Farago is just a bad seed who's all pissed because he couldn't get a job reviewing records for Rolling Stone, Skateboard World or Video Game monthly or something. Life must suck when daddy takes the checkbook away. There is no place in any profession for that sort of response. Emp, you may see it as anti-PC but in the final analysis, its just some little boy Farago crying over spilled milk. Nothing happens in this world just simply telling people to flick off.

The President spoke at a meeting today at the hotel just north of the office building where i work today. Literally a couple hundred feet or less away. The point where they brought him in the building was across from the north side of our floor which I work on. So we spent a good deal of the afternoon waiting to see the motorcade arrive and leave. He drives into a tent and they close the tent so the general public cannot see what's going on. Personally, I get the feeling they have some Famous Dave's barbeque under the tent that all the security forces and GW were snacking on. There was less of a visible force than I imagined there would be, but who knows, maybe that just meant they were extremely cleverly camouflaged. The thing about the place where he came to, is heavy wooded, with pathways and hills and such. I am sure it was not an easy scope out for the SS. To top it off, there was lots of construction going on on the roof, which they called off for the day, but no doubt added extra challenges to keep the place secure. There were 2 Cadillac limos, both with the new DTS grille. ALL of the security forces and law enforcement present had American brand vehicles. Most of the cop and SS cars were crown vics or Tahoe/Suburbans. There was a Durango and some others I can't recall. As much as Toyota is blowing everyone in this country, at least they haven't sucked their way into having the Presidential limo although I suppose they are working on it. I heard there were protesters in front of our building and the more public side of the building where he came to. I suppose its possible there was more of a military presence out there. They made us stay in our buildng for a couple hours. I didn't bring my camera today but should have. Some folks got cell phone pics so if I get any of those maybe I could post them. One of the stops he made later (after raising half a mill on a campaign stop for controversial and ultra conservative Congressional candidate Michele Bachmann) was a custard shop in a well off burb and he posed with teens and shared some custard with them.

oh yeah, because smoky burnouts makes one look real cool.......

actually, i'd love to clean the engine bay, but worry about the effects of the water. also, here in MN, we get salt under the hood. Nice to get it out if you can. Under the hood of my v8 sho there was no room other than engine so very little crud got under the hood. If you have a car with lots of open space under the hood and the more nooks for air and water to get into, you'll get lots more crud.
-
thanks, to answer your question, we just got a nice 2 jet/massage shower head system for our bathroom recently. I am able to keep my engine quite clean with the handy second head and hose. My engine stays nice and clean.

VW interiors show extremely well in the showrooms to the crate and barrel and pottery barn crowd. the passat 3.6 will be several thousand more than the Aura XR. the pushrod equipped XE will match up well power wise vs. the 4 popper Passat.
-
so, a four popper with vinyl.
-
a 2.0 T FOUR CYLINDER passat will be mid to high twenties and there's no guarantee on leather or not. v6 passats with everything are mid thirties. the Aura is priced way under the Passat. The Passat has a good interior but not top notch. The new interior design is offputting to some.

GM to Dealers: "No More Full Tank Freebies"
regfootball replied to Variance's topic in General Motors
i got a full tank when i got my tek. i was surprised and thought it was a classy thing. to bad the beancounters oce again are $h!ting on customers. -
its dated, cut the cord. its TIME TO MOVE ON. -aztek owner Maybe a two row shorter version of the Enclave is needed. In defense of the voux, its owners love the vehicle, and are a happy bunch, just like tek owners. Honestly, I don't think very many rendezvoux were fleet, if any at all. people love to bitch about ugly crossover vehicles and minivans but if you've ever loaded a large piece of furniture or something in one that you couldn't fit in a car, you'd understand. I just like to tell THOSE people to FLICK OFF when i see hilarious things like having to take a 20 inch tv out of the box in order to get it to fit in their sedan's backseat because the trunk won't fit it. So to some degree I see where Jim is coming from. Hey Jim, its two years to the day since we got our Aztek, my wifes run up 50k miles on it, and its been trouble free. So now be the saleman you are and take my Aztek on trade for a new RDV Ultra AWD with 3.6 for my wife.......if the deals are THAT good you should be willing to part with one for about 20. And give me 14 on trade for my Aztek. And since you are a proponent of home delivery I am totally fine with you having it sent to my wife's work right pronto. 0% interest is included, right?

they need to offer sunroof with cloth in the XR, if just the standard one. the interior is nicer than the 06 altima i got a ride in today, much nicer. i was borderline pitching a tent with how precisely the material transition seams are handled on the door and dash panels in the Aura. There are lots of material changes and cutlines coming together in pinpoint spots on the nicely sculpted and textured doors and GM pretty much nails it. Its insane how good they got these transitions. I do agree that the ribbed plastic on the gauges is a bit cheaply done. the gauges to me could be bigger. fly, your test didn't go much into handling feel, precision or steering quickness. can you feel the variable assist tighten up at speed? Does it flop in turns? brake dive? bump harshness? progressive bump absorption? did you slalom it? Also, on the tapshift, is there the annoying delay between flipping the shift button and when it actually shifts or is it RIGHT NOW? Are the tapshifts jerky? Understeer or oversteer? this thing have a handbrake or a footbrake?

does it at least help carpal tunnel? both wrists, by the way. damn if i have been researching that.

I plan on test-driving an Aura XE tomorrow

by the way. why anyone would get a Sonata over an Aura is beyond me. -

regfootball replied to Flybrian's topic in Heritage Marques
i guess i would agree but what it means is that certain people's preconceived notions will kick in and just say 'the camry is better'. the aura definitely to me looks better on the outside, and it doesn't have a clock radio inside, which is a plus. -
Thecarconnection.com reviews the 2007 Saturn Aura

what a bunch of dumbass morons. the XR is going to sell at least 50% of aura sales if not more. when will GM get a clue on the powertrains!?????????????? -
I plan on test-driving an Aura XE tomorrow
regfootball replied to Flybrian's topic in Heritage Marques
i had a visual inspection of an Aura XE today. Its a nice car. I think will blend into the Japanese sedan landscape pretty nicely. It was an XE. It looks like it has really nice deep rear seat cushions and lots of leg room. The interior gaps and seams lined up precisely and were light years ahead of any other sedans GM has done in this class. I still don't find the plastic to be top notch, but certainly improved and not as nearly cheap looking as in the past. Where I think the Aura lacks is width (like all Epsilons). It appears to be lacking about 2" in width. The design of the door panels is really nice and the dash is pretty decent. The corporate radio looks cheap in the center stack, but not as bad as on other models. An Accord or Camry shopper would find this interior comparable, I feel, but maybe not superior. For me, its still not on the sporty enough end of the spectrum inside, which is why I think Pontiac still needs to exist. The exterior I would want to see in a dark color before making final judgment. It is a sharp car and a wonderful stance. It just needs to be wider to be a real mid size, I think. Not crazy about hankook tires. The hubcaps on steel wheels looked good actually. Still looks faux, but will fool many. I think this car will be popular, and take maybe a few Accord sales, but its not gonna lure Camry buyers. Its not different enough to do that and too many will still perceive the camry to have the better interior. -
and the fact that one would have these two cars on their list instead of one of the 15 other cars in this segment........ really, this diversion IMO makes this topic irrelevant.
-
one half hearted feel good effort for them to fix the mess they created for the last 30 years. And ride off into the sunset, leaving the next generations in financial and cultural ruin.
-
they still need an engine fix and power window switches on the doors.

2007 G6-dissapointing mileage ratings
regfootball replied to ponchoman49's topic in Heritage Marques
those 4 speed automatics really give it awesome mileage. pushrods too. the G6 is a heavy car which is why its mpg is not stellar. -
damn, chrysler has some really cheap ass interiors these days. I can understand the XTerra simplicity of it, but it looks overtly cost cut by the bean counters. really, the Nitro is nothing but a 'hood' cruiser. Kind of an Xb on steroids. People rag on Jeep for the Compass, but honestly, this is just as useless. I guess this just strikes me as Dodge's answer ot the Xterra, that someone in the marketing department said it should mainly appeal to those in the ghetto/hood.
-
the new camry interior really doesn't look bad in pictures. but i sat in a couple at the auto show and they were quite honestly, very ordinary. they have cheapened the door panels and some other things. the gauges were nice though. its just that its nothing special. I would say the accrod's interior is still better.

it would be progress if they killed the LaCrosse as soon as possible, IMO. what they DO need to do is come out with a LaCrosse replacement ASAP on anything besides the old w body. Buick still needs to fill this segment, but anyone who thinks the current LaCrosse would be competitive beyond mid 2008 is on some crack.
