  1. its so wonderful to think new york's finest law officers will have to divert time from solving crime and protecting citizens to doing raids on back of house kitchens to see if there's any trans fats buried in the pantry. "put down the cooking oil" we expend all this effort to get rid of cooking oil but yet topics like abortion get people all frickin in denial about them fessing up for what that really is. amazing. Some of our pets have greater HMO's than people. I saw some ad for a charity function for raising awareness and funds for pet HMO's. All this effort by privileged folks to make sure snuffy has a co-pay yet many humans sleep in boxes, and dig food out of dumpsters. Well, i guess if it has no trans fat in the after closing french fries, that's OK!!!!!!!!!!!!! PRIORITIES THERE ARE BIGGER FISH TO FRY THAN getting rid of trans fats in NYC. Like, trying to avoid another 9/11 maybe???????????
  2. Stylistically the Fusion is much nicer than the Subie and the Ford actually fits humans, not Asian boys 5'-8" and under only (aside from their equally petite girlfrends). My main knock on the Fusion is that it needs the 3.5 (on its way) and they need to dial up the quick steering and firm handling on one version so that its reminiscent of the original SHO. Honda's AWD v6 car (RL) is 50 grand and 4000 pounds so I guess that proves what Honda would do with an AWD Accord. delusional. if the legacy is sexy than rosie o donnell is a wet dream. it's pleasant and nice, but not any different than the other UJS's. Its bland like the Sonata. i don't have the luxury of buying vehicles for style, it costs too much money. i need to get the most space and safety etc. i can for the money, which is why i am not drivng say, an X5 and a 335i. start earning some money to pay your own house payments, insurance, taxes, health insurance and medical bills, school, food, utilities, etc......i.e. paying for your own stuff and then maybe you see the perspective lots of everyday folks are shopping for cars within. and we prefer not to wreck them up after we purchase them also. my 500 may not be as 'sexy' as the legacy, but that Legacy same equipped is 200 bucks more a month. 200 valuable bucks. the main page article said the Holden Pontiac Commodore would be here in 2007. If that becomes true and it has AWD then this whole topic becomes moot.
  3. ---the purpose of legislation is not for social agenda. its to protect life liberty and the pursuit. it is not the role of cities to lead social agenda like this. cities are not to be used as mechanisms for enacting social movements. if this is a big deal the FDA and CPSC should be the ones to deal with it, just as the EPA should be the ones to deal with emissions, not CALIFORNIA. Let's stop wasting the money of the New Yorks etc. on stuff that isn't theirs to deal with.
  4. wait forever or get it now. your choice. "when it goes on sale in the States in 2007" THAT EXCITES ME. it better have AWD available or I will go a vandalism tear.
  5. one activist group has already gotten pop banned in a lot of schools and has said that fatty foods are next to get banned. sure, transfats are not good for you....but its not the right path here for a municipality to take this on, just like its not right for california to go above the feds on pushing the emmisions issue. they should build consensus to make changes in the national arena. not screw up the whole system for eveyone else.
  6. is the cabin area as big as an Accord? i.e. width and shoulder room and leg room? keep in mind, only 166hp, no v6. probably doesn't get stellar mpg. otherwise, i thought they would price it higher. but i'll wait for final judgment until i see actual configurations on lots.
  7. the z06's lack of weight is commendable when you consider that inferior similar cars like the 350z weigh much more and perform far less.
  8. I love it. only comment, the plastic maybe looks cheap but this preproduction so we will see when the real units come out. I want the GMC.
  9. Any ad with a patriotic theme is going to reinforce what the liberal urban type A CR reading twits already think, that GM is redneck and BELOW them. however, I think that's just fine. It's about time we gave a collective F U in our advertising to these groups which try to think they decide the mantra for the rest of the world. I am fine with them being proud and quite honestly I am cool with them leaving in the scene with the nuclear bomb drop on Japan as well. You know its gonna be controversial and it will get pulled because of whiners complaining but it will draw lots of attention to this new lauch and will prove, hey, Japan, you f'ed with us before. We're gonna protect what's ours, regardless of what the pansies in our country think. And we are ultimately going to come out on top....when push comes to shove. It will be a great reminder to people, that yes, IT DOES matter sometimes who you support with your dollars.
  10. oh geez. we have a crackpot on board. "Sometimes, people need to be told how to act and governed. Yes it's almost totalitarian" I'd love to see you try that statement in a bar in Montana, or Idaho or Wyoming, etc. Well, since we're gonna start regulating that too, why don't we set limits on who we can have sex with. Why don't we only allow the genetically superior to breed and we'll just kill everyone else. Because the rest of them aren't worth anything as people. We must only live by the mandate of a chosen few.
  11. not if the Renault name is on it. There is some latest disgust in this country for anything French.
  12. that's good news because right now that is seemingly all my kid will eat! just jerkin your chain on the ciggies things....LOL
  13. BECAUSE OF GREAT ENGINEERING, YES.
  14. "he said, while he lit up another cigarette....." pot and kettle? just sayin' if we ban this stuff, where do we stop? Whole milk can make you obese. Peanut butter is bad for you. That cheese will kill you.
  15. my buddy told me that in college 20 years ago when we were checking out women. 20 years later i can say YES IT IS TRUE
  16. damn, that picture of the bonneville dash with 400 vents on it would have come in handy again here. why didn't i save it?
  17. sorry buddy, the subie blows chunks. JMO. _______ ok, here is my appreciative and diplomatic effort to combine my Attention Deficit Disorder-like rants into one compact and convenient post, with what, ten minute limit between posts..? _______ one might wonder why I would even bring up this car. back when i had my diamante in getting the timing belt done and such, i got an 04 Galant v6 loaner. it had steel wheels so it wasn't tricked out. well, the car was FUN. my big dislike was that it was only a 4 speed auto. the cheap plastic didn't even really bother me. So i wondered what this car would be like the 5 speed auto and more hp, cuz it was already quick and roomy. My kid's feet wouldn't even touch the back of the front seatback in this car. ________ *short break to collect thoughts* _________ ok, so its odd that today I get MT in the mail and this car is in a comparo with the Camry SE v6, the Malibu SS, and the 06 Altima SE-R. it came in third but they said the car is good overall, but just lacks the . It lacks the refinement of the Toyota...(that is a given) and the edge of the SE-R altima. i assume it matches well to the SE altima then. I think the biggest knock you could give this car based on the test was the high curb weight (which IS disturbing but not like a G6 isn't a porker either). It did come in in front of the SS Malibu which is also not surprising from MT to put a GM car last. That said, they really didn't rip on any of the cars and pretty much said, hey Chevy, put a 6 speed auto and DOHC in it and we'll rate it a LOT better. Why didn't they put the G6 in this test? ______________ For my likes I just would prefer this Galant over the 06 Altima. the 06 Altima just kind of turns me off. The 07 is improved. I just think the Galant is a nice alternative more folks should know about and that is based on my experience with a very similar Galant.
  18. i tell you this. people in this country will not buy renaults. if there were some technology sharing, in the interest of stonewalling toyota, i guess that would be ok, say for example, some good 4 and 6 cylinder motors or a transmission. Things like that I feel can be shared as long as the vehicles are distinct. I don't think platforms ought to be shared. i tell you this though, if ANY of GM's styling starts to look like Renault, you will see a big backlash. maybe this is about sharing manufacturing techonologies and running plants together, rather than the final product being the shared piece. It is in both Nissan and GM's interest to stonewall toyota.
  19. oh, so Lexus is God because they make a car so some fat ass exec doesn't have to park it himself. I suppose this turkey who wrote the article has an espresso machine at home that starts and runs by itself, so Mr. Coffee is going to go under now. and nowhere does he say, 'and GM pays for a lot of people's health care in this country and toyota does not'.
  20. sure. actually, i would promote it more as a thousand dollar a year savings over smoking and it stinks less.
  21. fly i didn not know you drove a compass. i have seen quite a few of them sold around here now.
  22. CVT's will improve over time. If it were more available and practical for everyday I would drive a true manual hands down. Typically I loathe traditional stepped slushbox automatics more than just about anything else in life. Once they figure CVT's out, I think its the best compromise for most average folks. The DSG trannies I think hold the most promise for folks who like to drive but can't get a real stick. On the 500's they issued a TSB to program the CVT more aggressively. It used to be you had to FLOOR the throttle and wait and then it would adjust. But folks who've had the TSB done say it 'downshifts' much better now. The reason I ultimately went 6 speed was because on test drives the CVT didn't adjust fast enough but over time I found the 6 speed is no gem and is like the Camry automatics, lots of gears but you CAN'T get it to downshift! I know Nissan will try to engineer the ALtima CVT for good response. Yet, I am worried about Nissan's quality. After all, we are talking about Ghosn. He uprooted his whole company and sent them to Nishville, to save a few bucks. Who knows where Nissan has cut the corners here?
  23. yeah cuz the front ends of these popular cars are so attractive but this is horrible
  24. the shape of the rear taillight outlines are similar to the new Holden cars
