  1. proof that car has no fricking power if you have to do that. give the car usable power. like an ecotec quipped car.
  2. agree. it's atrocious.
  3. heck, wait for the camaro. or get the mustang now and trade it for the camaro.
  4. Variance, I'm mad at you for posting that picture of the superior previous gen 3 series interior. now i just get upset again at how BMW changed it to some really generic lame upright dash layout.
  5. i've read canadian driver for like 5 years. its an awesome web site. simple, large pictures, useful reviews.
  6. I've always built my machines. Its a great way to get more for less. tigerdirect.com is a great starting point. but the next one is an iMac or MacMini. No more windows bull. windows won't run decently on less than 1GB or ram. 512 isn't even enough.
  7. this is that whole electronic throttle thing again. I just had the ECU flashed on my 500 last week to cure the hesitation and slow downshifting and it seems to have helped a lot. the car is pretty quick now in a lot of cases. i assume its a similar thing here. My buddy who used to used a Jetta with an ET said the same thing. We concurred that the mfrs are dumbing down the throttles on these things so you have to press down ALL THE WAY to get the brains to realize you want gas. Its not a linear application of the throttle pedal anymore. Its compounded by poor tranny programming. I bet the car lawyers are making them do that to keep folks from overdriving the cars. I like the aggressive GM throttle linkages to a degree. Why can't it just be nice and linear all the way through the pedal with predictable and immediate shifting? on star should download ECU updates as they occur and automatically update engine programming on cars. they should figger out how to make that possible.
  8. running at 6000 rpm all the time will give you horsecrap gas mileage too.
  9. damn. damn.

  12. LMAO, I didn't recall my v8 SHO having this much 'torque'.........
  13. great comprehensive summary. thx.
  14. you mean the car and driver one where it was in the shop all the time?
  15. wasn't that torque figure on the SI a typo? Shouldn't it say 234? otherwise its like more than 100 lbft behind the Mazda 3.
  16. i felt the exact same way about the seats in the Nitro!
  17. they have a couple main differences from minivans -hinged rear doors -full dash and center console those two features alone make a vastly different vehicle in funtion to many. Yet, this machine is 3 row and hauls 4 x8 plywood (another minivan hallmark). in the final analysis, these vehicles become huge hits because they are closest an SUV has yet delivered in function vs. a minivan, but it sheds the dorky factor and latches on to the SUV's turned crossover phase. They still look tough, yet not so butch so they still look great in an urban setting. Wish I had the coin, I'd have an Acadia on order right now.
  18. HONDA RL, look at the sales charts. sure honda can build and engineer good engines and their interiors are above par. and in the end their cars still lack soul. if i chose to blow my family's investment money on a tarted up Honda, I could brag that I have a nice Honda and such. So my Aztek cost 40% of what someone pays for an MDX, I am not throwing away money on a car. It's actually pretty irresponsible to spend that much money on a car. Which gets back around to what I am saying. Honda's MDX, RL whatever Accord rebadges they are passing off are well engineered cars. But you boneheads need to GET that in the high price ranges, its not just enough to have engineering excellence. You have to have the style and snob factor, which Acura Clearly DOES NOT. Folks who anted up 40k for a nice MDX got one because it was the nicest family vehicle they could find; the Germans had not ramped up their CUV type offerings yet. So Honda needs to get a clue about style if they want the respect of the real desired automobile jet set, THE EUROPEANS. THE RL SALES tell you that story LOUD AND CLEAR. If its such a fin great car and had the style factor down, it would sell decently.
  19. yeah of course the civic makes 85% pk tq, it only makes what, 130 max? I can generate that much torque myself stirring a pot of spaghetti sauce. yeah the civic weighs less, its a less useful car. the mazda3 spanks the civic so bad its not even funny. to suggest the civic's engine is the 8th wonder in the ariel atom is like me saying a corvette engine in a cobalt is relevant. Is honda kool aid on tap at the fountain outlet at the 7-11?
  20. so lay off the throttle a bit.
  21. i think they are trying to make that bottom of the headlight reminiscent of the their "S" logo.
  22. the production version completely lacks the 'shoulders' of the concept and the 'gait' as well. The grille and hood are more well defined on the concept. the concept looks more serious and believable. the production version looks nice, it just doesn't have the presence of the concept. Clearly, having to share the 'not wide enough for a real mid size' Epsilon platform killed its styling effect. I make a similar anonolgy to the Auroras. the original had a substantial presence to it. the 01+ Aurora, while nice, clearly did not have the stance and grace of the original. A lot of it the size of the greenhouse in proportion to the rest of the body. On the concept, in the front quarter view, the greenhouse is not so dominant on the car. on the prod version, it looks huge. The aurora also had the same thing.
  23. G6 coupe is a real stunner. tasty.
  24. ah, BV shooting his mouth off again. Youth and rage, youth and rage. we're all used to it by now, so whatever. sure, i guess if you'd enjoy a nicer honda over a real luxury vehicle like a BMW, go ahead, that's your prerogative. I already own a Honda. I cut grass with it. I bought it at sears. Acuras are so exotic that way, all that racing technology straight from the lawn mower and gas pressure washers. Cobalts are cleaning Hondas clocks on the tracks nowadays anyways. Even VW has a greater brand equity than Acura. The MDX sells well because it was among the best of the crossovers. It still might be, but it sells because its a well done family vehicle. It has luxury elements to it...but in the final analysis, Acura will never achieve the desirability brands people really would rather drive first, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche. Acura is something for those folks to drive while they are on the way up the socio economic ladder. Once they arrive, they jettison those Japanese keys and buy something their well to do friends won't raise an eyebrow at. Proof, Honda, er, Acura RL. How many times are they gonna need to try that one before people take it seriously? The least Honda could do is build a Luxury car that folks might even classify with a Lexus, for starters. Honda can't even gain as much cred as the Lexus vehicles.
  25. LMAO, it would be interesting to see if CR graded this out better than the Isuzus it shared everything with.
