  1. i listened to the discussion on the radio about this the other day. the only constitutional requirement is that you TAKE an oath. it doesn't require you to lay your hand on a book. Only that you take an oath. If you violate your sworn oath, you are then commiting perjury.
  2. i wonder how many RWD vehicles are in the ditch........
  3. Star Tribune well, here's a topic for ya........ hehe Barreiro is getting quoted in the Strib news now...LOL
  4. My soft spot is for the Jag here. Mostly because its unique and non sterile and aluminum. Its so light. I suppose the A8 is aluminum too but is a bit more overkill. I like the A8 also. The mercedes is beautiful too, but is kinda too common. the BMW 7 series is one of the ugliest cars out there now. the Dogsus is a poseur in spite of its technical tour de force.
  5. not soon enough buick needs a convertible and a version of the Holden Stateman (RWD big ass car). y'all remember......Buick dealers now will nearly all be BPG dealers and will carry huge product lines between the 3 brands. BPG is essentially one brand with 3 flavors.
  6. note this... didnt the prius and accord hybrids get their EPA mpg hacked big time because of the new test calculations? Like by 20-25%? the new 2007 Altima 4 cylinder non hybrid CVT gets 26/34 mpg I think. Ponder that.
  7. VW and Audi maintain their Aura by putting out top drawer interiors. It gets the chicks and complex 'just so types' to break open their wallets. that's why everyone wants em. I still maintain that interiors is what most sells cars in the higher priced segments.
  8. why is GM being a bunch of idiots regarding this? Minivans are one of the best ways to achieve brand ENTRY and BRAND LOYALTY. new mom, all messed up from female hormones after being pregnant and having a kid. Female wants safe large functional transport vehicle for new child. This prompts mommy to van shop. Mommy will spend gobs of cash to satisfy her need for baby transport vessel. Mommy has never had a Chevy before because someone told her she needed a cute VW. so, mom sees an excellent van. Mom likes, mom buys. That van could be a Chevy. If mom likes the Chevy van, mommy will become fiercely loyal to the brand. Then. mommy buys many more Chevys. God, GM is so fricking clueless. Would Chrysler even be in business anymore if not for their vans? Ford used to sell like 200k+ windstars. Then, they 1/2 assed the freestar and look what happened. All they had to do was try but the cost accountants got in the way. The dodge vans are by no means luxurious but yet they are good enough to have loyal fans and sell zillions of them. Hell, CARBIZ is right....if Gm could even sell x amount of vans in Canada alone, its worth it. Bottom feeder Kia just simply pieces together a cheesy but functional piece and look.....instant success. The formula is known. the platform is there. GM just has their collective head in their great big ass on this one. For a domestic maker to abandon this family segment, bread and butter, fleet, repeat buyers, brand entry segment...is foolish beyond compare. Can you imagine how kickass a hybrid minivan would be? We get a full hybrid vue in 2008-9 but no van to make a full 2 mode hybrid for. And nobody give me this list price bull$h!. Most vans sticker now at 25k north and that is in line with what the Lamba SUV's are going for. So if the Lambda van would sticker near that, they would be fine. All they would have to make sure to do is make it as overall appealing or better than the odyssey, caravan, sienna, sorento. and that would not be that tough but apparently Gm does not know what it is doing. Hell, they could move 50k vans per year on fleet sales if they wanted. taxis, couriers, handicap vans, commerical delivery vans. THE MINIVAN SEGMENT IS MIDDLE AMERICA VALUES to the CORE. Imagine a small block v8 in a lambda van? You should see what folks pay for a toyo or honda van loaded......35k and more. THAT cash is out there. Maybe the vans will become reality when Chevy's lamba SUV arrives and Lambda production explodes to the point they absolutely need another plant. I dunno. All I know is the Uplander sucks and everyone sees that and it makes GM look useless. Jeeses, did Harley Davidson cost cut and cheapen their product to flourish so much? NO. Detroit sure loves to, and it obviously does not work.
  9. Jesus Christ, its not THAT HARD TO BUILD A DECENT MINIVAN. you just can't cost cut, or give it wierd styling. You have to make it extremely functional and comfortable and with solid features and performance. IT'S NOT THAT F ING TOUGH
  10. i like it. a lot. but i still think the G6 coupe is hot too, except its a bit smaller. a front drive G35 coupe. boy i wish i had this available to me back in '95. i'd be all over this car like stink on poo. this is a dagger in the ugly accord coupe. this should help nissan crack the 300k barrier in altima sales i would think. i think this may be the hottest looking affordable coupe out there. Sorry, I'm not a huge Mustang fan. I do like the monte big time too, but this poops all over the monte even.
  11. i would have liked to see Lutz and Wagoner come 'off the top ropes' with a little tag team action on those seaweed eating pricks.
  12. more i look at it, it looks kinda similar to the new fuel sucking RDX in some aspects....
  13. i agree i wish more folks would jump in on this topic.
  14. letter from auto extremist reader comments on camry as COTY
  15. abc news boy, these envirowhackos have balls. and no tact or diplomacy skills.
  16. I think the M6 hatch came out first.
  17. goes to show that looks still dictate. i've always been impressed with how the mazda6 hatch looks sexy sedanish, but has an extremely usable trunk. its much better than the Harry Malibu Maxx setup. Only downfall, in winter, you open the hatch to load the trunk and all the heat you've got inside the car is gone. With true sedans you can load the trunk and inside of the car does not get an arctic blast. My ford 500 has a huge trunk and a decent size opening. I've been able to get things in there I had ZERO chance of putting in my oval taurus. Between the size of car/trunk and folding front and rear seats, I get near SUV capabilites for carrying certain things. The 89 Taurus I had had a big trunk but the opening did not go very low. This just goes to show why SUV's became popular. Cargo flexibility (and all weather capabilities). Now the market is moving to crossovers. And people buy them because they can get bigger items in the cargo bay than sedans can. It goes to show why an Acadia will be such a high demand vehicle. It can swallow a bunch of cargo and really renders the sedan as a pretty worthless vehicle. Anyone with a semi regular need to put big items in their vehicle doesn't look at sedans anymore. Even if you buy a 20" TV you can't get the box in many cars. When i worked at best buy most folks with sedans would need to take the TV out of the box to take it home. Sad.
  18. oh by letting your work speak for you, i was referring to women on that one. Guys are usually all business and get the work done. It is some of the d ikes and unattractive heteros that aren't usually focused on the job.
  19. exactly! and what about all the pollution the 3rd world factories put out! yes, he is a loser man.
  20. one reason the vue is a success now is because its got a ton of usable space in a small footprint. this redo goes against that. it looks smaller, and they have carved away at the trunk. Will this thing have ANY usable space? the current view looks tough. this one looks wussy Asian. that may be ok, or its a huge backfire. It just looks to rounded, too soft. Maybe the women will like that. the dash and stack look good...surprise considering how the corporate radio usually butchers GM's dashes..however, it doesn't look as good as it probably should have been to compete with the new Asian competition. Price better not go up much. What it says to me is, go buy a NOX/TORRENT or XL7 if space matters. Buy this if you want to be hip and cute. new Escape-dud RAV4 - will still sell like mad CRV- the new Vue doesn't blow away the CRV the Outlander comes off very well vs. the vue. should be interesting.
  21. no production date...HMMMMM so, Oct, 2008 then? if i were GM i would slap together 100 prototypes and sell them to utility companies as fleet cars, just to say they did it first....the plug in thing.
  22. yeah but camry is ugly
  23. the XE will get better real world mileage on the highway I bet.......
  24. wow, Saturn is really putting a lot of eggs in the VUE basket. hybrid, a four, 2 v6's, 6 speed automatics. they really value this vehicle's success.
  25. yeah. and FOUR SPEED? WTF?
