regfootball replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Hyundai
K5 seems to sell well around here. Or maybe its just that its available and they're making them. -
On Tour - 2019 Buick Regal TourX

COINCIDENTAL. I was with my wife in our TourX and we spotted a red one in this very color making a turn at our intersection. To see two TourX in the wild in the same spot at the same time, quite rare. That's 'Roja Red'. At the time I got mine, I wasn't jamming on this color but now I like it more. Maybe because it was too close to the maroon on my Malibu I was getting out of at the time. -

nope, AWD is required for me in the snow state for a year round car as opposed to RWD only, like thousands of other buyers. -
On Tour - 2019 Buick Regal TourX

I really now wish GM / Buick had built the Avista. Would be a nice option vs the nice Camaro but with a little sleeker style and probably a nicer interior. I wish the Camaro had the 3.6 twin turbo v6 w AWD as an option. The Avista would have been the perfect vessel for that sort of powertrain as a unique offering. -
On Tour - 2019 Buick Regal TourX

i kind of get the best of both worlds now. I can drive my TourX and sit Low. And then I can also drive the Pacfica and its so easy to slide in and out and the seat is wayyyyyyy more comfy. Ingress and Egress is perfect height. Actually, with the 20's on the Pacifica, it has pretty good steering feel for a utility type vehicle. Actually I've been so detached from the real market and so many offerings are blending together.....what actually are the decent CUV's that drive well, have power, (and aren't lux category pricing). I mean, the list is gotta be pretty small. -

Let me follow up by admitting, I am finding new urges to maybe get into a SUV / Crossover / truck; something higher riding...... there, i said it....... -
On Tour - 2019 Buick Regal TourX

Finally swapped the winters back to the spring / summers today. 5 1/2 months on the winters. 2,763 miles put on in 5 1/2 months. I'm driving more now again but also with my wife full time remote I trade off between the two vehicles. Sort of makes me wonder if we need to have two vehicles anymore. But when I am gone she would still need something to drive. I'll probably put about 5,000 miles on in the next 6 months I estimate. Sure beats driving 25,000 miles a year like I did 7-9 years ago. -
I'd have no problem leasing a 2.7t or owning one but I would use a truck as a sedan or crossover replacement and wouldn't haul or tow much with it. If I were buying a Chevy with a v8 I'd probably skip the 5.3 anyways and go straight to the 6.2. Don't many of the GM v8 engines have frequent issues with AFM and other maladies that cause them to be in the shop a lot? Seems like the Chevy v8 truck engines right now are not considered reliable, at least from what I read (I know also there are the tranny issues). From what I read, the Chevy v8's already have a bad rep. FWIW I haven't seen many issues on the 2.7t to date since it was released.

I was sort of referring more to the rounded shape of the Aurora, and the clean styling. GM needs to bring back a few elegant cars like that. As for the CT6, I did look at a couple before.....a bit above my pay grade right now. Maybe in a few years if there are any nice low mile CT6 with the 10 speed auto I might look at one again actually.

ah, GM, we need something like this back...... although how would this translate to a longer greenhouse and possibly a hatch,

The overall point, and that to which I can connect some dots to your comment is, for EV's to make bigger dents in the market (at least from GM's perspective) is that for mass adoption (which is apparently supposed to be the point with EV's for some) is that the vehicles need to become replacements in SIZE and function for other volume and value segments of the population. GM can't limit their attention to small cars like the Volt, Equinox, Bolt. The Silverado EV is a good step to provide a useful larger vehicle for adoption to the masses. Why GM would expect to have volume impact in the market with a smaller than heck Volt and Bolt is beyond me but really exposes that they didn't want to get mass adoption with those products. They wanted to limit 'numbers sold' with the new technology in case there were flaws (fires). The Volt system should have been used in a Malibu or Impala sized car, and also an SUV at the time. I think there would have been a helluva lot more interest in the Bolt if it weren't Lilliput in size. All this talk and bullshit from car companies and pushing these EV concepts and yet how many of these are queued up for release to battle volume segments for people like David and other average customers that need some size and space in their vehicles? You won't get mass adoption until you get functional replacements, and at a similar cost to current market top sellers. That said, for the compact class, which does sell in volume, this will be a good entry I think. Now, where is the Traverse EV? We're 25 years post EV1 and not really much farther along in that period of time......

This looks like my TourX on steroids I wish they made a new version of my buick built on the CT6 chassis (larger than the Regal) and with the styling pumped up and aggressive like this Audi looks sweet https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a39450788/audi-a6-avant-etron-concept-revealed/?utm_medium=social-media&utm_campaign=socialflowFBCD&utm_source=facebook&src=socialflowFBCAD&fbclid=IwAR2Myv7dnQpSr_GvTVJg-pFKrEom9yM91ttNK3loaZbVKdFXSbFNCnrLh5k

Chevrolet News:All-Electric Blazer SS Preview by Chevrolet
regfootball replied to G. David Felt's topic in Chevrolet
it's GM we're talking about here. they do dumb stuff like that. -
Sister was passing through after flying in and she got a rental car to drive up and visit my mom for awhile. She had a Nissan Rogue, latest version. I didn't ride in it but I checked out......not too bad. Seemed spacious. Definitely a bit more interesting than a RAV4 or CRV to me.

I'd hope that is the case, but my fear is they make it smaller inside. -
Chevrolet News:All-Electric Blazer SS Preview by Chevrolet

finally chevy sniffs a clue and puts a decent size screen in the blazer (10") still has the dumb ass vents on the dash blazer is a nice drive, v6 used to be standard now they keep forcing you up the price ladder to keep that (3LT) Blazer could stand to be larger inside.....not much size difference inside between the already cramped Equinox and the Blazer. Gotta move up to the Traverse for stretch your elbols out kind of room. Not exactly good at 50+ price -
One year VANNIVERSARY! The odometer is less than 9,000 miles. Boy we'll be way under on our lease....less driving in the covid era. Actually the spouse is full home remote work now. So our vehicles may turn out to be keepers over the long haul this time. In one of the above posts I mentioned that the sales paper for the lease was wrote at 15 thousand under sticker, and when there was a decent supply. If we had seriously had been two months later we would have gotten screwed. Some of the options we have on our limited look like supply issues in the 22 models (kind of like GM, some features with limited availability). We have the tan seats and at least when I last checked, the Limited for 22 was black seats only. I am sure that stuff changes frequently these days. I love this vehicle. The v6 is so relaxed and quiet compared to the turbo four in our TourX. And even with the MPG drop for AWD vs the previous FWD Pacifica we had, the MPG is still very good. With gas prices on the rise, if we take trips we won't get crushed on the gas money. Getting in and out, easy ingress and egress, for an aging human becomes more and more loved all the time. The TourX is super low to get into, and I still love it. But the seat comfort on the Pacifica, higher driving height, more relaxed position, the cabin width and such is appealing for those weekly errands and longer trips. Heated seats in the first two rows and vented seats in the front, are great. This is my first vehicle with vented seats and like the power folding side mirrors, are features I never felt I needed before and now I won't want another vehicle without. First world issues. LOL We've used the van to haul mulch and bricks and furniture, and we've used the Sto N Go very often so far again this time. It's unfortunate that Sto N Go does compromise that second row seating for adults....the seats could be wider, more comfortable, and have a lower footwell to stretch the feet would be nice. But its a perfect example of a worthwhile compromise in my book. The harmon kardon stereo in this van is not bad. Wayyyyyy better than the Bose 'top of the line' garbage in the TourX. The TourX stereo is simply embarrassing. The one in this van is pretty good. In general the U connect system is quite good also. Chrysler IMO has the touchscreen down better than many of the manufacturers these days. Reliability, no issues to date except some testiness on the power rear hatch and one of the side doors occasionally. We had I think one or two recalls on something insignificant...in fact one of those may have been on the rear hatch actually. Must me why its worked just fine for awhile now. Our 2018 Pacfica didn't have any issues really except towards the end of the lease it was getting hard to get gas into it. According to Pacifica forums, that might be an issue that occurs a bit. So far on this 21, no issues pumping gas at all. The all wheel drive has been nice. And it is an enhancement in winter over the standard FWD but whether its nice to have vs a need is up to the opinion of each buyer. What I will say is the van doesn't drive too much differently in the AWD vs the FWD with the extra weight and such. If you drove them back to back, some folks may notice a difference in feel and some won't. It really just means they did a good job making the AWD version feel consistent with the FWD version. We did not get snow tires for it this year; with the low winter miles we may not at least for the least term depending on the wear of the factory rubber over time. With all the fuss about the crossover market, I tend to think this vehicle that looks like a van is one of the best 3 row crossovers on the market today. Quiet, spacious, comfortable, smooth and relaxed v6 engine.....compared with some of the crazy prices on the market today this is a good vehicle to compare to a lot of crossovers...you may find more for your money.

i bet you would have liked an Ipad slapped over the top of that nice linear dash...... odd coincidence, I'm not sure if this is the same "K-Pop" but last night for the first time i opened up a bottle of Korean K-Pop sauce and made some grilled chicken with it. was really good.

i only think this is significant from the standpoint of they are inferring the Blazer and Equinox will be comparably priced vehicles that exist in mainstream segments already. the Equinox and blazer currently round out popular segments. the compact and mid size SUV are market staples. So it finally shows, to me at least (unless this is vaporware) that actual customers can get a desirable EV in a desirable segment that presumably isn't going to have an EV price penalty. The Lyriq, Hummer are just PR vehicles. the Silverado will also have a crazy high price and isn't intended to cut into Chevy's current Silverado market. The Bolt is a toy, too small for what most people want. Room, space, styling and utility wise, the Blazer and Equinox EV seem to infer they are simply EV versions of normal desirable cars in desirable segments with looks consistent of what is popular in the market. No goofy ass styling like a VW ID4 or Nissan Leaf, etc. So hopefully a start to providing real alternatives to real mass segments, not just PR cars anymore hopefully. And let consumers decide if it is for them of not. Still doesn't get them off the hook from keeping their gas cars fresh.

now we might be getting somewhere in the EV discussion https://www.theverge.com/2022/1/5/22868410/gm-chevy-equinox-blazer-ev-announced-ces https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a38676580/2024-chevy-equinox-ev-revealed/ https://www.engadget.com/chevy-blazer-equinox-ev-teaser-184112130.html
