nah, i was at the target picking up some valentines candy last night and got the big coconut urge when i saw the mounds. and then it took me forever to decide whether i wanted the AJ or the mounds. Seriously, I had to agonize over it for a bit. as far as snickers goes....love them to death. but I'll tell ya, snickers crunch is awesome and now I even like the almond ones. To make it worse, they have snickers dark now, but i am not a huge fan of the snickers with dark.

you obviously have no clue. buyers want optional AWD for RWD cars in bad weather and don't want the hassle of changing to snows in winter. i am a believer in snows, but most folks want convenience and security and AWD is what buyers want available in northern climes. you simply do not understand customers. People do not want the hassle and expense of tire changeovers when the car only needs to come with one set of all seasons. (hmm, I have room in my garage for 4 useless tires) I am not sure how you do not see this when only 1% of the population has snows right now. Me, I would maybe spring for snows if I had dough, I have before. But the average corporate good job loser with money just wants to get around with no fuss, but with status and performance. People like that want convenience. You only understand what you want. AWD is maybe not for smoky burnouts. but there is only so many of those losers left out there that spend time doing smoky burnouts. Using your logic, none of the lux and near lux cars would have AWD available. using your logic, not one AWD BMW 3 series would have been sold. But obviously folks want it, and it is spreading down to more and more cars, fwd and rwd based.

where some parts of the edge interior are mediocre, you'd be absolutely insane to want to sit in and drive a miserable equinox in comparison. the eq is narrower, has worse plastic, worse seats, less power. I don't think you even get a full console in an EQ. the eq's interior is not that far above a chevy citation in materials quality. scratch that. its barely a step above a Nitro or similar DCX product. And yes, I've been in an 07 torrent and the interior plastics are still terrible. It looks like spray painted recycled pop bottles. most edge i seen on dealer lots so far is below 30k BTW

MMMMMMMM coconut chocolate and NUTS? or not?

the mazda dealer here had 3 used ones. a broker had a used one. all were in the 21-22k range pricewise and under 10k miles.
-
they all wear AXE too i suppose

there is a lot of used MS6's here as well. I think its because its only a turbo 4 popper. Apparently, no one wants a four cylinder in this size of car. Also, this car was dissed pretty much by the automotive press. Plus, die hard starch fanatics are so blowing Honda, Acura, Lexus and WRX/Evo that Mazda will not get a fair shake no matter what they do.

again, you show error in two ways. you are an example of someone who can only see things in their own situation, and fail to see the car market as a whole. One if a car has 50/50 weight dist the car is only getting 50% of the weight propelling the car. all 4 wheels propelling the car = 100% of the weight. how is that not better. and yes, CTS offers it because the BUYERS OF THE COMPETITION EXPECT IT. You just don't understand why certain things matter to other buyers, do you? Its moot whether it matters to you or not. If the target segment of buyers thinks its an advantage then offer it on the car. If the c class, a4, bmw3, infiniti G, and Lexus IS and GS as well as the STS ALL offer AWD then dammit the CTS better have it. The people buying these cars are smart and make money, so they must know what they want and what works better for them. I doubt they would listen to you try to convince them they do not need it. and the by the way, snow tires is a good idea, but most folks don't want the hassle of seaosnal tire changes and even then with snow tires on both awd still beats rwd only for getting around. What's wrong with extra traction? Let's take one of your two winter boots off and let you try to walk up an icy and snowy inclined driveway. Oh and why do I write off a CTS after an excellent test drive? How bout a monthly payment that's about 200-400 bucks a month higher than what I have? So many people around here like to talk smack like they can afford to buy any car for sale in the US. puhlease. We all have budgets. Half of those talking smack are driving beaters and could never come up with a down payment on a 6 year old used car. Much less a Camaro that everyone is so picky about.

G8 detractors, let's just go back to this we can always go back!

MY GOD YOU DO NOT GET IT. it is not whether it is required or not for the car to function in a basic way. IT'S WHETHER OR NOT IS HAS IT THAT PEOPLE WILL BUY THE DAMN CAR>>>>>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! iT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO with whether the BUYERS OF THE CAR WANT IT OR NOT. if the buyer wants to buy a car with it, the car better have it. WHY DO YOU SUPPOSE IT WILL BE ON THE CTS?

the original plan was to put the yamaha v8 in the 500. since then a few things happened. ford's finances became so bad they can't fund any new products, much less special products. the yamaha engine was then deemed too pricey for the Lincoln products it was supposed to go into. I think even the Volvo may no longer use the yama engine soon. lastly, the new duratec 35 was designed for DI and Twin turbo. Ford determined they can get the performance they need that way for the lincolns. I think its a 3.7 duratec with DI and TT that is being planned for the MkX. If Ford gets a hot version of the Taurus, it will likely either be a 4.0 duratec, or a 3.5 with DI probably not twin turbo is my guess. Having two SHO's and now driving a 500, I think I would like a hot new Taurus, but only if they gut and redo the interior and put as much effort into making it a true drivers car, like they did with the original SHO. IOW, only if they don't half ass it. And even then, they probably would not put a stick in it. With the G8 on the way, it probably doesn't make sense to try to compete with that. A new taurus SHO would be best conceived as something that would have the aura of a 7 series, but at half the price. Luxury on the cheap. In otherwords, make it a cushmobile but with great performance and handling. I doubt any Taurus SHO in this new body could be bearly as athletic as a G8. The G8 and CTS will be the new poster children for Americna performance sedans. Another thing that may hold back any future SHO is the interceptor concept. This car could be the crown vic replacement. Ford may choose to invest in making that car the performance torch bearer.

And the Cheapest Interior Award goes to...
regfootball replied to Northstar's topic in Chicago Auto Show (CAS)
we can agree on this, northstar. i drove a nitro at the local DCX ride and drive. The interior quality is on par with my wife's 80 Citation or a Chevy Celebrity. its that horrible. -
all toyota is doing is saying 'it costs us less overall to settle now before bad press gets out and ruins our rep'. its cheaper for them to do this and move on before its all over the news, sullying their rep.
-
it's not top notch, but in no way is it complete crap. Its just simply underwhelming. the design of the door panels is more deficient than the materials quality. And then, if you call the Edge crap, the Torrent and Equinox interiors must go way beyond crap. The Edge's interior is still much better than the Equinox.

no wonder the GTO failed. People's pent up expectations of what a Pontiac ought to look like and be is so unrealistically stratospheric its amazing any of you sleep at night. Using a straight man as a reference, if Laetitia Casta, a thin Tyra Banks, and Elle MacPherson came to your house and offered to let you have a drunken orgy with them on demand, you'd nitpick the day of the week and the brand of the wine you'd have to drink and bitch about how the bass and treble are set on the stereo. And y'all know how f@#king picky I am. The world is not perfect. But GM has given us a five series you can buy for half the price that will shred rear tires and looks absolutely sexy and contemporary. Its interior will likely be GM's best in material execution, especially for this price point. They are doing their best to keep price down so losers like all of us who don't have high end jobs can theoretcially buy this car. Being able to offer this in spite of high gas prices and all the ecoweenies shoving Prius' down our throat alone is inconceivable. You will be able to track race this car vs. a corvette and stay in the game. There will be real room for 4 fat ass American adults in this car. There are VERY FEW CARS alone with this kind of performance that you can haul your coworkers to lunch in and not have inappropriate touching in the car on the way! My God. Sometimes in life God leaves you a gift on a silver platter, but some are too misled to see it. This is a car GM detroit was incapable of building on its own. It is now coming, because of Holden's help. There are many other options, but this is in the game. No wonder the GTO failed. The only things that would have kept me from thinking about a GTO were 2 doors only, no moonroof, and gas tank in the trunk with no cargo space. But people are straining so hard to find lame ass reasons for dissing this car. They don't build tv's to look like funiture cabinets anymore. Today they look different. Same thing with cars. Product design changes over time. The G8 currently meets contemporary style. This is the look that is in. If older GM styling was an in look, GM would be in no financial trouble. People with money will like the look of the G8. Meh. My only reservation at this point is no AWD, but if I had a winter beater on the side I would even consider overlooking that. This car is served up on a silver platter, like waking up in the morning with a set of your lovers genitals in your face. Grab life by the horns and do it, or take a pass, but don't say the effort isn't there. MAN.

comes with the territory when they invest so much emotion and physical pain in carrying you physically and stuff. Its part of the female psyche men cannot ever get 100% I'm sure.
-
the maserati makes a bmw seem like a poseur car to me, even. I love Masers. I think this type of design is a great direction to take Buick style. Some of GM's cars had an Italian influence awhile ago. I could see a RWD type of sports sedan in the Buick stable with this type of flair.
-
i don't think AWD fits the nature of this car very well, but if some buyers want it then that's alright.
-
doesn't the rabbit have a 6 speed and a five banger?
-
you make no mention of Honda's lack of LOW END torque. At least Toyota and Nissan have torque figured out these days. What will GM's DI 3.6 produce? 320hp?
-
Saturn Astra only has 4 speed automatic. Plus there's no BIG TIME mpg champ in the Saturn lineup. New Vue looks too Daewoo. Some interior plastics on all its models are still cheap. Still work to do. But yes, overall, if Saturn can't change minds, then I don't what much else GM can do.

as long as it helps with real american pleasing torque and mpg, more power to them
