  1. you can't expect a 6,000 used car to not have issues, import or American. So really, what brand they get is moot. Its completely unreasonable for people to judge a brand's reliability rating on a 6,000 dollar used car because by that point the car has been used up already. This is what bothers me, people form their opinions of new product based on something that is used up already. Any 6k car you buy, be prepared to put about 4 grand into it in the next 3-4 years. A Taurus at 6 grand is a solid buy, if has low miles on it. For 6 grand you'll get a 97 Accord if you want japanese. When you are shopping the bargain bin on used cars, its less about brand and more about finding a model with decent reliability data and one that's been well taken care of and maintained. i.e. no sludgy camrys
  2. dave looks great. i know he has continual plastic surgery. eddie looks like complete hell though and wolfie looks pre pre pubescent. i wonder if the Rock and Roll Hall fo Fame bit has something to do with this. I truly think Michael Anthony needs to be a part of this.
  3. look at the top 10 topics on this Asian thread. faulty odometers toyota cheats convicted exec gets promoted toyota figuring out how to gash labor costs chinese 'crash safety' toyota sludge recalls aplenty and the ASIANS DO NO WRONG? they just simply have NEVER had to endure scrutiny in this country. And we want these 'better companies' taking over our American auto industry? its time for the free pass to be over and at least we get some equal time.
  4. what a derivitive pile of dung.
  5. I'm not Canadian but I know the parts you drove through so maybe I can throw in my .02 the only industry is farming, otherwise folks leave those ND towns to go to metropolis' like FGO and mpls. Ag is too dominant, it holds everything else back. And even then, in ag, very few operations makes big money, lots of them go hand to mouth, even with all the incentives. there is just no industry or real initiaitive to develop businesses up there and you cannot get folks to part wiht their money for anything. Once you cross and go into canada, the climate must change. I know there are some successful businesses just north of the border. They build prefab houses and also some places make granite countertops. I am sure there are many other businesses. Its because they need them there. In the US all that stuff is done elsewhere. The economy in the US is very climate sensitive. People in the US with big jobs do not want to run businesses where it is colder than hell. But in Canada its cold everywhere so I guess people grow their economies as they need to, wherever they live. My guess is also across the border people have a more focused attitude on life, because they are happy in Canada and don't feel the grass is greener. If you live in ND, or MT, or even SD you are always getting ripped about it, maybe it makes some folks more sour. There are other parts in the US where you see parts that don't seem to be all movers and shakers. But they don't always have another country on its borders. I think its what you make of it. I could move back to the GF / oSLo /ARDCH area and make of it what I could. I would just need to make good money. (even though taxes in GF are criminal and housing is way inflated there also) But in no way would i go to PEMBINA. I think if some folks would invest in some new industries and manage to make them successful maybe you'd see vibrancy. So bottom line, I don't think its that the Canadians are different, its just they their economy is more mainstream and that has cultural effects.
  6. i love maseratis. this is not as sexy as i would hope, but still is a nice contrast to the dull german cars out there. this and the jag coupe are nice options to have.
  7. sick joke opportunity I will leave by the wayside. re: DCX styling. I saw a new sebring today on the road and honestly it looked fine in motion. standing still, not so much. i think this car will take awhile to find its legs in the market. i do think it will be a fleet queen. I honestly think Chrysler's move away from cab forward to these ridiculous butch looking vehicles is to blame. I do like cab forward. The last Intrepid was a very nice car. The last 300 was very nice. The original cloud cars were the bomb. The current 300 I am lukewarm on and it goes downhill from there. The Jeeps I am ok with. One universal thing I see in Chrysler that just flat out downgrades EVERYTHING for me in one fell swoop are the absolutely terrible interiors. Even something as way cool as the PT cruiser gets a big downgrade because of the interior cheapness. Nitro, Caliber, etc.....HORRIBLE interiors. I think folks judge cars stylistically on interiors alone more than any of us think.
  8. oh, blu, i know that! i was thinking about this the other day. i think harry and joshiepoo are the same person.
  9. i fell in love the first time i saw him sing RHINESTONE COWBOY on german tv.......... (I fell in love with the female viola player, that is) although i am sure the hoffer is quite fetching in some way like that, it don't trip my trigger. i just think his anna nicole/britney type aura makes for great humor.
  10. here that dash is the coolest.
  11. toyota cheating, not a shocker
  12. i won't consider going back to school unless i can do it online. oh wait, "University of Phoenix" here i come......

  14. The HOFFER as a woman
  15. i want to be able to log onto the internet and remote start my vehicle. or locate it. or check the status of certain things (i.e. interior temperature etc., see if the engine is running, etc.). I want to be able to open my sunroof through the internet or with my fob. I know that trick fob GM had on display a couple months ago could do that. I want to check my gas level from the internet. I want to turn on my heated seats from the internet.
  16. what happens in the cockpit, stays in the cockpit. "Joey, have you even been in a Turkish prison"?
  17. why does this not surprise me.
  18. not for all of us. i think flybrian got aroused at the bonne dash. i just don't think there are enough vents, personally.
  19. boy, that guy who came out of retirement to head GM PR dept again sure is doing a great job. GM is really starting to become a PR machine. In good ways. its nice that they brag about the cool new caddy dashes but we still have the same crappy parts bin stuff in too many new cars including the new 08 malibu. how bout making the fob that also doubles as usb flash drive that you plug into a puter and open a program and use the program to customize the operator preferences of the car? i.e. which programmable button is for what, etc. That STS dash looks awesome and that other mock dash is phenomenal. Lets wait to see which of those make light of day. Here's a little something to bring us all back to reality.
  20. announce job cuts to make it easier to sell.
  21. i think a lot of the middle class everyday public is getting sick of that sort of thing. everyone works their butt off but in the end all that is important is what the stock price is? Stock price should not be the ONLY indicator of a company's health. Too many jobs depend on the overall health of companies. Stock prices alone are too unstable and can be detrimental to our economies.
  22. oh, i thought this was a thread about liking big asses. OOPs. wait, i love FANS too. i always have a fan blowing on me. At the desk, at the bed, in the living room. I love fans. i would collect them if I had more $$$$. this is way cool. love their marketing too. I love humor like that. What gives me an ever bigger chubbie is their is a product link for engineers and architects! Perfect for me!
  23. i am not crazy about this for some reason. looks far to daewoo.
  24. by the way, are her cans real or should she be glorified in our implants thread too?
