  1. The L WORD, a show on SHOWTIME about Lesbians. It's pretty much is a dumb show. The storylines and dialogue and dumb as heck (ok, not dumb, just overdone)and are merely needed as a part to set up the real story. Which is to have a show on TV with chicks kissing. So since I just got satellite and a big ass plasma TV, of course (and because its on like ALL THE TIME) I find myself watching it. I watch it to watch women make out, and that's about it. Just curious if there is any sort of outside opinions on whether you think the show sucks, is good, or otherwise. Most showtime orgiinal shows are pretty lame anyways. Or maybe, the story is fine, its just the acting is terrible.
  2. a bit of a sickening article but GM is starting to wise up and get savvy in this behind the scenes PR hogwash stuff.it is clear that winning market share in the future will not be done with just good products, it will be done by f'ing with the public's heads and blowing politicians. toyota needs to know that the midwesterners and texans have stronger principles in this area and think more in terms of core values personally than east and west lefties do, although there are some factions of the midwest and such that are weakening as well.
  3. poison. definitely.
  4. you make a great point. these tv's cost an arm and a leg and there's no guarantee the thing will last long. actually, another point well taken...many folks moving up to HDTV's will be looking to unload high quality CRT's to anyone who will take them or pay money for them. In the process, one can obtain a very nice CRT for reasonable dough. for me, the last time I spent good money on an expensive TV was like 1991. I hope it lasts although technology changes so much now, in 3 years i may want to unload this thing anyways.
  5. lots of edunacated MN people who can't f'ing drive in snowy weather.
  6. long story short, bought a 42" LCD a few weeks ago, and just today...got it exchanged for a 50" plasma. The plasma has a much more realistic picture with deep blacks and great contrast. i can't crank up the color and contrast on it yet for awile because its a plasma and I need to break it in, but its a real pleasing picture so far. The LCD is naturally odd because of its flourescent backlighting. But some LCD's like sony and samsung can be dialed in for a nice pciture with reasonable colors and just enough black and contrast to not look horrible. The LCD will be a bit crisper and depending on how high it's cranked up, will have good brightness. I just couldn't get rid of the unrealistic colors on my LCD and I couldn't get a bright picture until I had all my settings up near 100%, which I don't think is a good thing to have to do that. I think LCD's over 32" will continue to improve greatly in the next couple years, then maybe I will get another one. I could see getting one at a decent price that will have a great picture, then. For now, I got a great plasma and a good deal. The price dropped 800 bucks in the last couple weeks and its similar model dropped over a thousand bucks as well. So now is the time if you want a plasma, they are getting cheap. I couldn't afford the 52" samsung or sony LCD. It would have been 1-2 thousand more.
  7. audi is capable of far better than this correction. at one time they were
  8. by the way, in a snippet that has gone virtually undetected by radar......
  9. a little longer version of the same story latimes it really is pretty much safe to say that eddie is pretty much loonie and gone.
  10. a 2500 pound diesel CRX, now THAT would interest me.
  11. the Insight looks like a big green turd and is too un-commodious and I wouldn't want a light hybrid like that. The CRX was a simple, real, car. A nice 2 seater with a big trunk, and sporty looks and driving. The insight is more light duty and is intended for greenies. There is nothing sporty or youthful or substantial looking about the Insight. In its own arena of ecoweenie cars, the Insight is pretty nice....but that's only compared to a prius.
  12. i don't know what it is with the Germans and coupes. the 6 series coupe is a dumpster, too. The SL roadster is about the only german large coupe that wows.
  13. their overt unimaginative derivitive wedge shape with no interest is what they share. face it, this thing is a big time dud. Just like the pathetic Q7, a 5500 pound uglee useless pseudo SUV. If you want pork on wheels at least get a Yukon Denali and drive something with some style for the same money. Audi used to equate to style. Now it equates to 'copy'.
  14. how original.....i mean, these don't exactly match, but what does match is how bland and derivitive they both are.
  15. flourescent lights save good electricity, but their color rendition and quality of light is garbage. its a trade off. depends if you like it or not. Your fridge, appliances and computer use lots more energy than your lights. When they take my LCD tv away tomorrow and bring in my new plasma I bet my electric bills will skyrocket. thing is, LCD is flourescent which is why it looked crappy.
  16. or like my brother in law said yesterday, the actors that get out of the prius and go into their energy wasting 15,000 square foot hollywood mansion. i think the general public has discovered the hypocrisy of your average prius banger. they want to make a 'statement' of saving mother earth, but chances are there is a tax break involved or they in some way live in excess otherwise. but there is a lot of hypocrites around in many ways. Regardless if they bang toyota or not. the best point in the article was how a car like a CRX was just as good at fuel efficiency. Well, with a caveat, it did not have to lug around 500 extra pounds of airbags, electrical wiring and five star crash structure. I HAVE NO IDEA why Honda does not offer a CRX today. Its one of the few Hondas I think was the neatest thing. I also like VW diesels, and why is there no 'Chevette Scooter diesel'? End point, is the fully complex hybrid a necessity for a 'green car' image. Um, no, Scott. Technologies like the Vue Green Line with BAS (refined to a higher level) make all the right sense to implement. GM will trump toyota with their hybrid kicks when they get the full hybrids going in the big trucks. We will see real society benefit when those go up for sale. Improve the mpg of the biggest offenders. that is real progress. Most of Toyota's hybrid models are Leuxs cars. this enables toyota to charge much higher prices, not put more green cars on the road. A Lexus GS hybrid was not created for fuel savings as much as it was to add performance. Wow, more and more we see press taking aim at Hoyotha. nice to see them getting fiarly abused like everyone else finally. Well deserved, too.
  17. this is what happens when you abandon cab forward and move towards blocky non mainstream designs they bet the whole farm on the LX cars and neglected the rest of the lineup.
  18. i have a carl brewing in my bowels. should i put four rings on it and call it an Audi "A-turd?"
  19. they don't need to. the 4 cyl RDX, and 6 cyl. MDX and ridgeline all suck fuel at a higher rate than a v8 already. need me to repost those numbers?
  20. there is a new Rush album coming out soon.
  21. Scoop Jackson w/ Tim Hardaway ESPN
  22. one sitting or drive in a Nitro is all you need to know to NOT want DCX in the fold. Or maybe GM is seduced by those tasty second row swivel n go seats in the new minivan!!!
  23. (insert actor's bio here)
  24. eddie looks like one of the olsen twins in that picture.
