true.....but we would have to endure a ten year period where they get a bunch of dumb laws passed and we'd all be driving corollas as luxury cars and max hp would be 150. It's like pro sports. cleveland browns, MN north stars.......you lose them (larger, high hp cars) and then you end up paying twice as much to get them back once everyone laments losing them in the first place.

wow, they are smart. this gives them leverage against the UAW and allows them to hose CAFE/outsource at the same time! BRILLIANT! don't blame this on GM. they would build these cars here if the government and union were cooperative. this is the beginning. the beginning of GM saying, screw you everyone, we need to build our cars where we can make money and not have to get screwed by rules and regs. in like 10 years the only jobs GM will have here is marketing and sales. that's the hand they are dealt, though, so that's the way it's gotta be.

SRT8, phenomal car comparable to this park avenue that is selling for less than 40k across much of the country. park's engines are all low tech engines being used in many other gm car lines. zetas have cheaper chassis than sigmas. many new CTS and STS are advertised in the low to mid thirties.

sounds like you need a drink, but i do agree.

there is nothing about the appointment, design, or materials in this car that would keep this car from being made and sold in the US for starting price low 30's. the inflated money projected in all those press releases are obviously spiked due to currency issues and other logistical reasons. The engines, suspensions, body, dash, all those things about this car are fairly typical of what other carmakers do on a regular basis in joe blow to entry lux segments. With this design and level of tech and content....a base v6 of this car should be had close to 30-32k. the DCX 300 remember starts in the 26k range. Base Chargers go out the door for around 20k these days. Popularly equipped versions of a v6 park avenue should be mid to high thirties MSRP. Maxxed out lux v8 versions with all the toys could approach 45k IMHO. There is nothing about this car that the 300 from DCX doesn't have (except for some nicer interior bits) and that alone won't make the difference between a 35,000 dollar 300 and 50-70k needed price for this. Sorry, I just don't see it. GM will make plenty of money selling the G8 if they can move them at 33k. If they have to sell them for less than the customer has spoken. thing is if they can't sell them for the price they want at the amenity level the customer wants, then they are incompetent and should go out of business. My bet says they will sell US made G8's and statemans here without having to spend big $$$$ that AU has already spent to develop the car. In the meantime, I struggle to see how its such a liability for them to bring a few over here to round out the Buick lineup and serve as a stunning new flagship.

it my understanding that it is ok for those with dark skin to refer to others with dark skin using the N word and its fine. But it is not allowed for someone with light skin to refer to someone with dark skin using the N word. part of it is simply context and how the term is used and the emotion behind it, however, IMHO it is an example of double standard that previous poster talked about. Likewise, scads of young females openly refer to each others as hos and b1tches. like its a great thing. its a sign of admiration and something to accomplish, being called a ho or b1tch. but look at what sort of trouble a man gets in to use the same terminolgy towards a woman. And like I said in another post, how many times behind closed doors and in like company do you suppose light skinned folks have been refered to as honkies? I am all for tolerance, absolutely. At the same time, I wonder if it just won't be our downfall. A man makes an inappropriate sexul advance and goes to prison. If a woman does, is it punished the same way? A woman courts a juvenile and never gets held to the same social and criminal standard as a man does. My father in law married his wife when he was 16. I wonder if he messed w/ her prior to marraige. that would have been punishable. Nowadays they would think its criminal regardless if they ultimately got married. What if she were the one older than 18 and he were 16?

oh wait, it gets better. the last part of their plan is to bankrupt social security and government, piss off all other countries, ruin our world trade so we import everything and outsource all our jobs, they will ruin health care, and leave behind a need for the younger ones to all work in nursing homes cleaning up their poop. They are the ones who contributed the most pollution and consumed the most resources and now expect us to take the responsibility of making up for their own rape of the resources and environment. They will pass enough laws to turn our society into a first class joke. The chosen generation has not even been able to contribute a worthy leader who could lead and have vision instead of the political landscape we have now. BTW i followed a new LS into work this morning. This car simply does not have the style to compete in the segment it is trying to play in. It is weak. Beyond weak. It makes the honda RL looks stylish in comparison. And that is sad. Whatever happened to all that crap about toyota finally learning about style? just as i thought....bull$h!.

i am starting to think they are deliberately trying to get it so that the N/A arm of GM suffers so badly so that then they can get all the pieces in place to say 'in order for us to stay in business we need to design and build all our cars in other countries'. that way they can kill off the UAW and all the associated health care and pension costs and they can be free to design, engineer, and build all their cars in third world countries. Then, if they get that, then they can actually start to bring back the cars we want to buy. i also think that if they starve the dealers of product that dealers want, they can move towards busting all the crippling franchise laws and dealer agreements. basically they are saying, 'if we are going to build and engineer them here, then we can only give you old designed junky cars. if you want the good stuff, we need to outsource everything and import it back into the country to stay competitive'. then the only jobs they need here are sales and marketing jobs. if they can bust the dealers, and trim them, then long term they can move towards direct marketing and selling the cars without near as many dealers. the dealer network is just as bad a leech as the UAW is on the manufacturing side. Seriously, if GM can sell you this car with Daewoo building it and importing it back, its a great option if they say they can't build this car here.
