nice find! exactly. i suggested mits because of chrysler's past alliances with them. and the new lancer is a good car. the current galant should have been rebadged as a stratus or intrepid. the avenger is alright but really isn't going to make much waves. the eclipse could have been made as a stratus coupe. or avenger coupe. mits may sell 40-50k lancers here this year but if they were selling them in dodge showrooms too they could easily double that and help dodge keep some market share.

kicks ass. a little 4 cyl diesel in that thing would be cool.

tell an ugly chick 100 times she is hot and she will start to believe it so i guess this will probably work for toyota.

I'm hoping the CTS at least overtakes the G35. the black does look nice. quite SWEET! the current CTS is one of my favorite cars of all time BECAUSE it had a taller huskier look, the falling character line in front, and not the tired old horizontal look of the 70's with the skinny taillights. the 70's look is archaic and no one wants to see that. i loved the high trunk and wide taillights of the current model. the step back to thin lights in the rear is a very bad step backwards. also, i like the CTS but I really would like it more if we started stripping some of this chrome crap off cars again. it's too much! the wheels in this pic are damn plain. something with fewer spokes and more aggressive would be cool.

QUEEN GREATEST HITS ONE OF THE BEST CD'S EVER. Before it became available in the US on CD, it was a huge import title that folks put down major bucks to buy on cd.

lots and lots of money under the table? i'm glad all the folks out there who think people who like domestic cars tend to be xenophobes actually are the worst stereotypers. they lump all japanese brands together because 'those asians are really smart and are all good engineers'. you know, all asians lack any sort of emotion and personality, they just militantly turn out perfect cars for us whiteys in the western hemisphere. that's so nice of them to just shut up and work diligently to make that lexus we can put in our garage. like good little asians. Yet, i don't see those same folks singing the virtues of Asian artists or moviemakers or advertising and marketing experts. that's why people in the US have this embedded stereotype of Asians being able to make better stuff than we can. 'their kids go to school so much more and get better grades'.

yeah, the 1.8 is underpowered and has seen its due. ecotecs would give it SOME power. the vibe really needs a 2.2 or 2.4. as far as packaging goes the vibe can't really be beat, but it needs new sheetmetal and interior. it could stand to be cheaper. right now i would assume vibe sales are up due to high gas prices.

saturn is still advertising the old vue. i think they just want to push as many of the old design through the system before the supply of new ones gets up to speed. the vue has always been popular....those 107 vues will sell just fine. what it does is allow saturn to sell a very inexpensive but high value vehicle. get a few sales from the bargain hunters.

Are car dealerships a thing of the Past?
regfootball replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Industry News
a lot of what biz says makes sense. and good salespeople make the process good so you feel like you got value for your purchase. then there are the bad apples, and sales managers, and the jerks who run the dealership and worst, the bloodsuckers who own the chain and all the real estate the thing is on. and i hate having to fund the massive overhead a dealer has. the overly large buildings, the excessive inventory, the huge expanse of expensive property that would be much better served by other things, the blonde with the big juggs sitting on the reception desk, etc. if the staff could be trimmed as fly suggested, it would be nice. i would prefer to go to small 'test drive centers' and have many brands available to me. i hate giving the moguls my cash. i would rather give it to the union and that's not saying much. i'd rather not have either bunch of bloodsuckers getting my money. all my new purchases have come down to developing a good positive cooperation with the salesperson. not giving in to them, but working with them as well as they work for me. the best approach is to do your research and find out what everything is going for and then it becomes pretty easy. biz's thing about finding out what people need is important but as he also said, most people have a disconnect between what they THINK they want and what would actually best fit their needs. And then there are all the preconceived notions they start out with and all the crappy info they get off the internet and from their friends. the dealer i got my aztek from was a one price shop that also gave me a ridiculously good trade number for my old SHO. and the sales guy was great. the dealer sells all GM brands except hummer and saab although I am pretty sure they could get hummer if you wanted one. i like the one stop GM shop idea. the ford dealer i got the 500 from is from the same ownership group but this dealer is more closely networked with other ford dealers. so there was mostly only ford to pick from. when i inquired if it was possible to get the montego instead, it got met with resistance. ford ought to consolidate their dealers. FLM. i think dealerships ought to hire better class of folks to sell the cars although I am sure that is mostly due to not wanting to pay alot. you kind of get what you pay for. the places i get the best experience from are mostly saturn dealers. GM dealers overall are pretty good. Ford is spotty. German marques are tough to shop. Toyota and Honda dealers are stuffy....at least Honda is semi friendly at the start. I've found Mazda dealers to be very good. VW dealers are the most snobbish of the cheap brands. If you want to get treated like $h!, shop VW. Or Any of the upper channel Japanese makes. -
yeah, because they sell SO many s2000's.... nice numbers GXT. whose but did you pull those out of? should be interesting to see how trashed all these rental camry's will be in two more years when they flood the market.
-
weed out the parisitic unions and parasitic dealer network and some new management and then they'd be able to make some progress. too many hadouts being given out to people in the chain that don't deserve em
-
i would like to see the 3.6vvt/6 sp in the impy.
-
this aztek owner agrees with you........ aztek 'dune'- coupe like CUV with dune buggyesque styling, rakish rear hatch line and rear jump seats aztek 'trail' - typ. mom and pop CUV with makeshift third row aztek 'commando'- armada sized 3 row x-over that can move 9 people and a hockey team's gear.

my 500 is a nice commuter car...but my next taurus i would like to have the direct injection duratec 3.7 i think it is, with like 320hp, with paddle shifters, and wider rubber and quicker steering and better suspension.

ah, yes, you understand it 100% women control the checkbooks in this country and women are why the RAV4 and CRV sell like hotcakes. the vue can compete with these two entries.
-
best thing Chrysler could do right now for the next year or two is to rebadge a couple mitsubishis to stock the showroom. at least for a couple years until they figure out how to untangle from the nasty mess Daimler left them in. slapping a dodge badge on the new lancer for example would add a nice entry that would attract fuel conscious shoppers.
-
too bad GM's vue interior is much nicer than the CRV then the 'high interior quality' of the last gen jetta and golf really foretold the spotless reliability of those cars, didn't they? Assuming anyone could keep one of them maintaining combustion. Really said a lot about VW's engineering, didn't it.
-
now that so many people are driving accords and camry's and not just the CR humpers, you'll start to see and hear more of the reality coming out. folks that bought these cars from reputation but have never owned one before.....there will be enough of those folks that will find out a car is a car. Toyotas and Hondas aren't perfect. Like CARBIZ says, they have skeletons in their closets too. Funny how Toyota had plenty of dough available to settle the sludge lawsuit before the press really got a hold of it. Honda's automatic tranny fiasco ranks up there with the worst lemon auto fiascos in the last 10-15 years.
-
after seeing this at the auto show all i can say is this is maybe the first gm in a long time that the INTERIOR will sell the vehicle. This interior is so much nicer than the crv.

Road and track. the mazdaspeed 3 was first than the GTI. The Civic drags its ass in third.

gas just hit 3.39 in my town today. at that price, the hybrids are in no way bull$h! if the price of them is cost effective. on a Sclade, adding say, 5 grand to the cost is nothing on a 70k vehicle. A buddy just this week bought a new Civic. Went in looking at the hybrid civic. They wanted 23. He settled for the regualr Civic and saved 6 grand. Even driving 25-30k miles a year he couldn't foot the extra 6k. Whichever manufacturer that can figure out how to build the hyrbid and only add maybe 2 grand on to the price of a car will rake in all the sales it can handle. GM ought to be developing a new dual stage hybrid for the next global delta platform to work with the small gas and diesels.
