Hyundai dubs Buick, Cadillac, Saturn "so-called 'American'"
regfootball replied to Flybrian's topic in Hyundai
not yet, they haven't traded them in yet, to find out how much money its NOT worth anymore. It will end up costing them MORE. monday! tuesday! wednesday! HYUNDAI! thursday, friday saturday! HYUNDAI! sunday, everyday a HYUNDAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anytime i want to relive the smell of urine i can go to a hyundai dealer and sit inside one of their new cars, and it brings me back, all over again........ -
I'll be interested to get your take. Bring a barf bag, just in case. to the others. the thing looks like a beached whale in person. It looks like a squatter and wider GMC safari, and the interior plastic and aura is not even on par with a Safari. This thing is the automotive equivalent of a nasty BBW. except its not a BBW, it's a BUW. BBW's are nice to look at. this is NOT. Chrysler better hope the market for cargo vans is big right now, because I don't see trendy moms touching this f@#ker with a ten foot pole. Rush out to get your 07 now while you can!!!!!!!!!!!! The quest is an assload nicer inside than this thing. Sienna/Ody trounces this thing. WHERE IS GM HERE!?!?!?!?!?! ok, i will give this thing a second chance and try to find one with leather this weekend.

Hyundai dubs Buick, Cadillac, Saturn "so-called 'American'"

i saw these ads on tv tonight and decided to bite and look at the website. wow. what a bunch of wannabes. get praise for one good vehicle (veracruz, which by the way is not a good looking vehicle AT ALL, it looks cheesy in real life) and all of a sudden they think they can go picking fights? amazing. i liked the term ALMOST AMERICAN that someone posted on gmi earlier. this is what they are or want to be. American enough to rape us blind of our dollars and sent it back home. Not not enough American so as to take us all for fools (although you could argue that is working well) and so as to rip our own bona fide industries of over a century. industries that have made this country the money machine it is they can suck from. its time for the American manufacturers to start getting nasty. It's time for the American public to wake up. Folks only will when their own industries are outsourced. -
i thought light gray interior was the best, compared to tan and black

over lunch i popped into the chrysler dealer. peeked in and out at a new minivan just off the truck TERRIBLE! thing looks like humpty dumpty on the outside, but worse.... horrible interior! in just about every way. build quality sucks plastics quality sucks color scheme sucks control layout sucks design sucks ugh! chrysler really shot themselves in the foot. they killed their iconic model and took no care to replace it with an effort that would cement their standing as top dog. meh.

Dirty Secret: Green Cars Automakers Won't Sell You

as long as its one standard and it's not expensive for everyone. -
i REALLY did not like the center stack and console. very unorganized, mass of buttons, yuck. this coming from the owner of an OVAL POD dash on my old SHO taurus. that was actually quite easy to use. edit- after thinking about it some more, what i like about the accord is the right size interior and airy cabin, even if the design is not that lavish. too bad the stick isn't available with the v6, but a four cylinder with stick or diesel with stick could really be a nice space wagon. i think i will add it to the test drive list. it would be the type of vehicle you buy or lease in spite of the fact it's not attractive inside or out. its better than camry, way. camry interior is garbage in comparo. i'm afraid GM's epsilons will lose out in comparison on the width issue. the epsilons are perceived as way smaller i'mn afraid.

they need to change the fender bulges

I JUST was over at the honda dealer over lunch looking at the new 08 accord..... genuinely not impressed and plenty of mixed emotions about it. first off, it does appear much larger, but more importantly, more spacious and human sized, so big plus there. the back seat is not as cavernous as my ford, but for a midsizer its nice. secondly, this car gives NOTHING in the aura of itself that it has any BMW flair, like you might think in pictures. It actually comes off as more of a Korean knockoff version of a Jaguar Xtype, puffed up and straked on the side with the falling character line. the shape fo the car is odd from most angles, and the front is particularly hideous. The car looks low and blobbish, and not in a good way. The rear view is actually the best, which is surprising because the rear in photos is bad. the interior is in no way mistaken for a BMW. It looks like a new century impersonation of a cross because the civic and an early 90-'s accord. The assembly quality is first rate, but the center stack is offputting. the gauges look nice, but the console and shifter are cheap and the seats look basic as well. Plastic quality is not sublime, i.e. not worth using as a reason to defend the car, but at the same time its a little better than many others in the segment. Prob better than the toyota, but not the altima. price for an LX with cloth was like 22 grand. Will sell in bunches at that price prob, but now I can see why C/D was picking fun at the accord demographics getting ancient. This car is very confusing. At best, to describe the on the lot impression would be to say 'premium korean midsizer'...... You get size and fuel economy and space and assembly quality at this price. It will prob drive quite well, in spite of whether it feels asian flimsy or bank vault german. But the interior is dull, not aspirational in any way (despite assembly quality), and overall does not score any style points. fire away. the midsize segment just does not have great cars. I think the aura may be more enagaging and the malibu likely may compare alright to this when all is said and done, except for room and space. oh, and no remote start, no sync, no manual shift mode, no 6 speed, autolamp........

where my parents live, there is much more crime these days. drugs, theft. my dad's theory is folks become stressed because of the economy and give up and resort to theft and stuff because it's damn near impossible for many to make an honest living anymore, so why try. folks can't live on 6 bucks an hour and pay 2% prop taxes, or 3.25 for gas or 4 bucks for a pound of average hamburger. or, 30 grand for vehicles. so, i guess if i agree with that in general, then maybe we won't be far off from killing wach other for petty $h!. i have wondered if it wouldn't be a good idea to get a way to impeach what's in there now and get a 'transitional president' in there for even half a year, so people's outlooks will change and we can get action started on righting the ship, before Jan 2009. it's obvious that if we have to wait until then, things are going to deteriorate to an extremely bad level for everyone below the rich people's mendoza line. i wish the election was this november. you think $h! is bad now, next year is going to be terrible for the eocnomy. its only going to get worse.

in other words, we can justify its ok for like 10% of everyone to prosper, while the other 90% don't live comfortably. the divide continues to grow. the middle and lower classes get squeezed.

what he is suggesting really pisses me off, and it shouldn't be this way, but even the writer I think is a bit astounded at making the point he makes..... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20642831/site/...week/?GT1=10357

ok, on the wheels, you're right. the wheels do look good. i just think the chrome plating job looks cheap. the design and machining looks good. i really am not into chroming wheels.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL APPRECIATION THREAD !!!!
regfootball replied to regfootball's topic in The Lounge
yeah, don't tell me it wasn't a planned career move. that's the thing, and even disney don't care no more. she makes so much money for them, so they turn the cheek and just say a polite slap of the hand quote. America is so hypocritical. Isn't one of the Olsen twins on that WEEDS show now? Like having to get nude on that? Again, stoke the career by getting naked. -
LMAO. like I said, i guess if they want that kind of attention, fine. And yes, imagine the girl who passes out and found she got abused. No, that should never happen. However, the image game can have consequences. Sometimes the wrong message is sent and unfortunately gets a very wrong or undesirable response. it's just constant bombardment, and it just gets old. Seriously. the constant quiet begging for attention because of the way some women dress just gets tiresome, in spite of how attractive they can be. I find it so refreshing and stimulating when a woman simply smiles a brilliant smile or says something intelligently funny, or simply excels at work because she is capable and easy to work with/for. Or, if she can talk in complete sentences, or engage in intelligent conversation about current events instead of her f@#king imported handbag. I don't want to have to keep hearing $h! like 'oh, i just had ANOTHER date over lunch, i had three dates this week' crap. So why do so many younger women affectionately call each other 'bitches' or 'pornstar' and 'hoes'? That's just tiring, too. ah, i may come off as prude, but truth is, I am extremely un-prude for my age and such, and especially knowing one day I'll have a teen daughter too. I just get worn out with the constant in your face show everything sort of mindset and display out there. Can we just get a break from that and go subtle and classy for awhile? Like I said, if we don't, then I consider it fair game to start teabagging it all over the place. It's still ok if you girls want to make out with each other when you drink too much in the bar, though. There's still not enough of that. LMAO

to some degree there is a lot of female advancement in the workplace based upon how they look and having a type a personality. work in cubeland, and you see often women are promoted because they manage to dress 'work slutty' and are personable. In many cases they are quite capable for their jobs. But what I have seen is many really young women are being promoted into positions in their 20's and 30's, over people, men and women, who are older, more qualified, and dress professionally. The more experienced that get passed up may not be as flirtatious or outgoing as the thin leggy blonde who gets the big job in her late twenties. But coworkers can see through crap and determine for themselves who is the real deal and who got their promotions based on skanky looks and low cut tops. we have become a society where image matters, but now it matters far too much. Being fashion conscious rules over competence these days in cubeland. Show me a company where a pleasing looking, but fat, woman has a high level position. No, no, they banish them to the admin desks in the corner, doing technical or grunt work, while the 22 year old grads from private colleges get real estate degrees and are promoted by their commerical real estate bosses as 'being able to be one of our top agents within six years'. why? you can't tell me that being a model thin 5'-9" blonde doesn't have at least half to do with it. Let me dig up the article in our local paper about this. I'm like, this is bull$h!, tell me there isn't some guy in that office who has been there for 15 years busting his butt and is more capable then an immature chick out of college. Yes, Fergie is a big mutt. Big time ugly, but hey anyone can look great with hollywood makeup artists doing them up. Regarding your last sentence, z28, i know exactly of someone you mention, an excoworker who is late 20's, she works but totally just wants to find a man with money and marry him and quit working. she truly feels because of how good looks that entitles her to find a wealthy man who will treat her like a princess. Just like dad. She says she won't even live with the man first. 'it's not needed'. she doesn't even care too much what the guy looks like, or his age, or if they have chemistry or are compatible. it's a sense of entitlement that being hot includes. she feels being a woman and being good looking means she should be kept. in the meantime, she is able to get positions in her field that others won't get, because of her looks.
