  1. i still don't see why all those cahmrys in the hertz lot and at the 'all buyers drive away with financing' car stores get a free pass. that's just blatant bias to say that. percent don't mean $h! in this case because they have flooded the market with more camrys than people want to buy. 10% of 450,000 camrys is 45,000 cars flooding the market and killing the price of the new ones. so even if its only 10%, they obviously have reached a showroom threshold and they are looking for fleet to steal share or run factories. same effing deal as GM, they won't sell any more new ones regardless if they fleet or not, but with that many cars dumped into auctions it will kill new camry values. its a market share tactic and nothing else. it apparently is ok for toyota to do that however! they get a free pass! if you sell 500,000 camrys on the showroom floor and fleet out another 500,000, that hardly means you're guaranteed that a million folks want a camry or much less pay you a decent price for it. its really sad that such a mediocre automobile like the camry sells so much. the bar is not very high.
  2. not sure how chrysler's vans can be the best when the interiors are so terrible. i've already seen at least one comparison test where the chrysler couldn't knock off the japanese.
  3. i thought you always say GM's entries in all segments need to be home runs. Is Chrysler allowed a single to left field when they really need a solid triple here? Cause what I saw is not a solid triple.
  4. you're not proving otherwise. give honda credit, their models don't really overlap.
  5. the avalon does the defecto steering column, no? i think i read a press release that said that was a good thing.
  6. you're right. hey, maybe you need to ask your friend to help you with some research.
  7. the whole point to the thread is to get people's opinions and discussion on whether toyota is doing the very same thing GM has gotten crucified for in the past. its a bonda fide question the press is not asking. some folks seem to think so. the others, are drinking the koolaid it seems. the evidence is clear. toyota has too many models overlapping. the decline has begun.
  8. so if toyota is dumping 50,000 camlees on the market..........that has no negative? bull$h!. all those camrees at the auctions, same deal. 50,000 grand prixs or 50,000 cahmrhees. same deal. i bet there are more rental return sonatas on the market right now for sale than there are new ones. but that's ok?
  9. i'm right most of the time, is why.
  10. ^^^ thanks for being wise and getting it. unlike others.
  11. wanna play that game? RAV 4RX Matrix that's 9 for 2 divisions
  12. I'll be sure to try to post examples of the various sizes, sometime later tonight. I just don't think I can take time off from work just today for this 'scientific research documentation'.
  13. if fleet sales are so bad then why are hyundai and toyota tripping over themselves to sell as many cars to fleets as they can? the hertz by my place is awash in toyotas and hyundais and have you looked at used car listings these days? A popular used broker/dealer in town here which normally stock on average of 150 cars or so, 3 years ago sold no hyundais and now they have like 20+ including about 15 06/07 sonatas..........
  14. i can't tell the difference!!!!!!!!!
  15. g8 wagon=much nicer, however this diesel intrigues me
  16. highlander sequioia 4 runner GX LX land cruiser and GM has too many models? GM has too many SUV's? seems like some serious market overlap to me i can't tell any of those vehicles apart wasn't this supposed to be the downfall of GM?
  17. to me, if i ever buy this car it's really only for fuel economy vs. space tradeoff. a gas sipper 4 cylinder with stick and huge cabin for cheap price. where else do you get that? the design of the cabin is very sparse and cheap, even if materials and execution are better than others. the dash reminded me of a windswept version of some of the sparse early 90's accord dashes...and c'mon, the cheap matte black plastic on the center console is a big time relic from like 10-15 years ago. if they ever give like 249 leases on this thing and i can get 30mpg in city driving, then maybe it makes sense. when the diesel version of this car hits, i think that will be its truly appealing config. a stick diesel of this thing should crack 40 mpg on a consistent basis. now that's a useful car. screw you prius edit- it looks like autolamp is available on the top end model. why can i not get an LX v6? i am building one right now. there is not crap for colors to choose from. cargo net SIXTY EIGHT DOLLARS?
  18. ITS NOT BIAS THE DAMN THINGS WERE HORRIBLY EXECUTED inside and out, the new chrysler vans lack appeal. they are DOA. they have terrible lot appeal. you're not going to get women to agree to buy them. these things will sell as cargo vans maybe because that's the impression they give on the lot. Nardelli gonna be giving out huge rebates on these things from his own bank account, and that may not be enough
  19. i'm at one of those points right now where i've got about a thousand breasts jokes popping in my head, and 80% of them are lame, so i think i will just let them pass and enjoy everyone else's comments........ and i know some folks have a third nipple kind of thing like chandler bing, but i think she's got eight of them. what's up with that?
  20. http://www.km77.com/00/volkswagen/proto/up/g01.asp buttload of pictures, including interior here is the official theme music of this car......complete with a viagra prescription....

  22. as long as you can contain the movement in three directions, not just one, i think you may be on to something.
