2008 Silverado/Sierra earn 5-star side impact ratings

well, that's because they are inferior and don't even have boxed frames, assuming the turds engine didn't explode or sludge up already. -
SONOFABITCH I DID NOT THINK IT WOULD END THIS QUICKLY. Since the parties agreed, i guess this is a good news. the workers got a couple days off, a feel good muscle flex from bringing the strike signs out of the closet, and GM has a plan. i think also, we could see some positive press out of this unless the typical media wants to analyze this to death and conclude its another toyota advantage. somehow. f-k the press. maybe this means the UAW will step up the unionization of the transplants. the positivity of this means now they can turn the poison pen to villifying the transplants as community bloodsuckers. 'hey, we can partner with an American company and MOVE FORWARD, but you (insert slur here) companies don't really seem to give a (insert slang here) about the communities you are in, do you?" one thing now, hopefully this means we can stop starving GM of R&D money and start putting decent plastic in the cars. I am quite stunned that this did not drag out.

no aztek today, the 500 turned just shy of 30 mpg on the long road trip this weekend so i gladly rode it into work again this morning. not bad for a big heavy brick. aztek, gm product, 75k plus miles in 3 years and total reliability. lots of function, great value to run. and how is it any more ugly than the crap like the new xb or highlander? -
pretty slick, not having to use the sludge card!

i advocate keeping work here as much as possible.....but considering GM's competition has advantages GM can't seem to muster it would be nice to see the playing field leveled....here and across the world. the world issues are bigger and harder to skin, but it would help GM greatly to be able to dump the union and be able to be more flexible with plants and employees. one benefit for having the union is a more predictable way to budget for labor costs and the changes for the term of the contract. also, i do think union people tend to stay in their jobs longer and that could mitigate costly turnover. i really think part of this is GM and UAW realizing that it could be mutually beneficial for them to coexist still and then find a way to push the UAW on the transplants. the downside to this is hyundai and the koreans could really start dumping more cheap cars here but i do think it would help to stem japanese expansion here. If anything it would help swing marketshare back to the US company. Toyota / honda etc. do not invest in as many workers here.....so the impact of losing say, a toyota plant is more justified in my mind. those same folks working there could or should be building vehicles for US companies, IMHO. Unfortunately the Japanese use all sort of manipulation to steer positive advantages for themselves globally and top that off with our own politicians giving the farm to the out of towners.....

GK is a FKFACE. ok, maybe not that harsh, but another one of those who tend to think they are more important than they are. he's another minnesotan liberal peckerhead trying their hardest to play the part of an east coaster, yet retain their lake cabin so they don't have live in a smelly eastern megalopolis. i mean, his show is probably decent, but too many of the bleeding heart MPR/NPR democrat liberal softies want to have the comfort and non confrontational lifestyle of being in the midwest, but they want all the ego spoils that come with being an artsy, liberal, 'forward thinking', green, any progressive cause you can think of advocate. ugh, i am so sick of these types of people attempting to rule the country. can we please shut down the radio and presses and tv and all that so these folks can be reduced to the same importance the rest of us are? -
i guess they think the chimpokemon look appeals to some.

10 cupholders, for the empties. Still only a meager 118hp? 8.9 seconds? Jesus Christ, can we at least have 140hp and something in the range of 7.2 seconds?

i know the thought of having kids for many brings thoughts of 'no way do i want one' and 'they are too much work and expensive and a pain in the ass' all i can say is hmmm, imagine / do you ever wonder if that's how your parents felt about having you? I think not. some things are worth the work and effort in life. its not always about 'just you'. as poster mentioned above, the part about having a part of you running around, can be fulfulling. a lot moreso than too many days and nights at the coffee shop. sure, kids are expensive...but many people find it to be a good investment. your own parents probably did. what is amazing about watching and helping someone develop from scratch is you no longer take for granted all the things you do in everyday life. Breathing (try sitting in a hospital room with your kid hooked up and the doctor saying she is not getting enough oxygen from breathing) or peeing or pooping (ask some parents whose autistic kid is 9 years old and still isn't potty trained yet) or just things like talking, reading, language, socializing.........relationships.....just helping a child learn how to become social and acclimatize their own personality into the rest of the harsh world. i know its not for everyone but dumb stuff like playing kitchen tonight with the kid, drinking tea, cutting up pizza, its enough to make you smile and can outweigh the bad stuff like, i dropped the milk all over the kitchen floor.
