mustang, there was one of those deals not too far from here recently too. bowling balls. when i was in high school, one of my friends was part of a group throwing things on to cars off interstate bridges. light bulbs i think. but here's the deal. the person who's car got smashed, stopped, drove back and up the intersection and kidnapped the person who couldn't get away fast enough. he held on to the kid until he could get a hold of the cops, who reamed the kid a new one. i would give those kids boot camp and jail time.

2008 Malibu at the Georgian College Autoshow
regfootball replied to Polish_Kris's topic in Other Auto Shows
considering how terrible the 03 altimas interior was, and how it still sold, makes me think the malibu will be ok. -
i think i am fine with it. i wish it had some motor. the first vibe sold well. this should do ok too. cars like the vibe and g6 and torrent bring in sales revenue that allows pontiac dealers to keep the doors open, and hence, to sell things like the new g8, which won't keep dealers afloat by itself. it also sells to conquest buyers and youth. back part of the greenhouse is looking a bit too prius though.

thanks Bob for filling in the blanks on the stuff I did not have time to type! You are 100% dead on what I read. Wow. fogm, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!!! Its not worth it!!!!!! Although I'll leave that one up to you. http://annietown.com/ Annie Choi's rant on architects is now LEGENDARY and SOOOOOOOOO dead on. I want to find the link for her rant, but it escapes me right now. Can I upload a pdf to the message board?

yeah, and its rude to ask friends to sit in old metal unheated and fire dept condemned ag quonsets, on chairs made of pvc pipe and plywood and carpet, too. LOL

yeah, but it killed studio time for them, they felt like they gave you your money's worth with a professional opinion. they may have avoided saying anything about your project because they probably didn't have the ability to quantify anything of benefit for you. It's easy for them sometimes to repeat things and idoelogies they read or had said to them about other's works, but they can't react to your unique abilities all the time. those are not the best teachers. At least not on the spot like that. I had some studio profs I found essentially of no value. Either because they did not like or take interest in me or my work, or, they just simply could not cultivate and judge talent. And a few are simply not communicators. A handful of them, I found to be useful. They were generally the older ones, and those who had had practices at one time or another. I cannot recall any memorable interactions with any staff where i went to school, except for one. We had a prof they brought in from Poland, and it was her first year and she was one of my 5th year crits. She was tough as nails and had communication issues with nearly everyone, except she was sort of cordial to me because of my Polish last name (even though I am mostly German). I could tell often she was visibly frustrated with many other students (the prima donnas especially) because since she was not part of the professors elite, some of them hated her and shunned her. She was able to see through many of their BS, but she wasn't stroking them and it made a few of them turn on her, in addition to the language issues. i was lukewarm on her teaching style, since she was inexperienced and such, but since she was personally recruited from europe by the new dept chair, I felt it was worth it to be sympathetic to her situation. So I treated her with respect and attention unlike many of the others. She also took more of an interest in my attention to the practical issues and such that the chattering other faculty would not. Anyways, one day, she told me that someday 'you will be very good architect'. And she kind of told me some of the ways she I thought I would be successful in ways many of the others would not be. I swear, what she told me that day is basically about all that keeps me going some days. And I don't think I'll ever get to that point, but it was nice to hear it once in a lifetime. I never felt too many of the profs related to me, because I was more functional rather than seeking the artistic bent continuously and I think some of them questioned my commitment. Hard to spend 12 hours a day in a metal shed when I was working full time at the same time. I thing I never did was challenge their opinions enough. To allow them to say their piece, and then throw it right back at them. I respected what they had to say, but I was never able to turn it around on them to argue anything I disagreed with.

judging by how slow the aura hybrids have sold, there will likely be some incentive on it at some point.

clarification, if you want to nail sorority girls, just wave some cash around and that ought to do the trick. wouldn't hurt to drive up in an imported car, too. the more cost effective route is to try environmentally conscious chicks- a good vegetarian salad at a fast food joint and a couple pieces of foam core marked up for the demonstration should do the trick. if the cops don't arrest you at the protest, you can use the chains later in the evening. 2 birds with one stone. psych majors- some of them are so messed up you might not have to resort to buying their keg cup, but as an insurance policy, it won't hurt. psych majors are willing to try just about anything, be it therapy, or talking, or worse comes to worse, a lot of them are nymphos. arts majors- this can be tricky. those in drama or theater can be similar to psych majors. But i think drama majors require more ego stroking and maintenance. And even then you are not sure if they are practicing acting in the moment or not. I honestly do not have a good bead on plain old art majors, like sculptors or painters or the ones who makes pots and pans, pottery etc. they might seem predisposed to be looser, but there is an inherent complexity there that you can never generalize about any of them, o they always leave you treating each one on a case by case basis. that's too hard. business majors- not a lot of them are smart (at least when i was in school) but some of them can be driven. Analyze the situation and if you are lucky, you will find an ambitious one who is also not sharp as a tack, at least to your advances right away. journalism and political science majors- i would avoid these with a ten foot pole. these are some heavily opinionated chicks and most often lefty. the price is too high for all the mentalness you will have to deal with. mass com majors- the opposite actually, they kind of are close to the bubbly HR majors and hospitality majors. Ag and farm sciences majors- this will require a separate post. no one has hope for this group anyways. architecture majors- I'll leave that one for bob. I would rather stick chopsticks through my eyeballs.....with a few exceptions..... dieticians, nursing and pharmacy majors- women who might earn big bucks and who have nice caring personalities. I never heard any cases where these groups of lasses are particularly loose, but the whole caring thing has sort of a fruedian mommy thing to it that is hard to ignore. plus, the dieticians might be game for sampling tasty food. like at a good solid chinese buffet or mongolian. mmmmmmmmm engineers- women engineers, meh, I'll leave that one for bob again. let's just say there's not anything real promising there. not gonna elaborate cuz i want to not be too harsh. teachers- i would avoid. lots of women who get into teaching are cranky (the elementary ed teachers are nice though) and can be real vocal lefties. And they don't seem to party too much. At least what I recall. what other groups am I leaving out? There's bound to be plenty of other groups of chicks I can stereotype in a sentence or two. avoid social worker majors, too messed up themselves, at least the few i knew. your results may vary.

because you've all drove the malibu. none of the midsizers jump out as head and shoulders above everything else.

i curse my ford the way it wont unlock the effing doors. i have to hit the unlock twice as i leave the car, just so that i can open the passenger door to get something out of the front seat. i've wanted to torch the car because of this.

that is something i totally disagree with you on. but nonetheless. a base saab 9-3 (which will include leather and maintenance) is currently being signaled at about 4 grand off list. I would say the nice 9-3 would be a decent alternative to a loaded 4 cylinder accord. naturally i will go to bat for my taurus and sable (with their usable trunks) as larger and safer for about the same price as the v6 camcord. i think the new Malibu will be a nice option for many that don't want a UJS. A mitsubishi galant v6 may be an option for those that hate toyota, aren't a fan of the premium korean look of the accord and like a big warranty and do not like hyundai/kia. the fusion is a good car that can be had for less than a camcord. the impala is a nice option and price effective and economical. a 4 cylinder passat without too many options is a classy option to the UJS's. g8 will be a good option. rwd and more sport. i don't like the charger but the 300 and magnum if for the right price will be a more solid alternate to the UJS v6. the new accord's trunk is embarrassing. its deep, but not high and not wide in most of the space. goosenecks too i think. overall I would grade the new accord trunk a solid F. It's not usable as a family sedan.

This topic is simply your voice on telling Joe and Jane Camcord buyers of better alternatives than the frequently selected Camry and Accord. Make your argument for xx car is better than Camry and Accord and why. There is no limit to your suggestions other than it should be a comparable type sedan in a similar price range with similar functional value and size / features. Tell us what car, model approx price and how its configured. The idea with this thread is to educate potential buyers about all the other great cars available in the camcord or similar segment(s) that people are missing out on by blindly gravtitating toward to those perennial best sellers.

can't you just ask the two big girls in the trunk to leave?

i went to college in the aids scare/safe sex/sweaters and jeans period of time. at a school where it was like 2/3 men. today its about teeny tank tops and off the hip shorts and miniskirts. its about 'hooking up' just because you're buddies. and the whole girls kissing and lovin each other bit. plus all they know how to do their makeup professionally by age umpteen. they look and dress like models closer than ever. if i were a college lad today, i'd be re-writin history. the things i say to young gals in the bars today they just laugh at, where 15-20 years ago, I'd prob get slapped or arrested. tis' not bad, i just say laddies, make good use of it. back in my day, you had to feign some effort at wanting and having a relationship most of the time so the woman wouldn't feel used and guilty. nowadays, women have so much more confidence and self decision making skills and the ability to not let themselves get controlled........

too many architects are about idol worship and ideology. Hardly ever about making an informed decision. Prof's are in that way real similar.

Pontiac G8 to start at $27,595 | Ordering Guide
regfootball replied to Lamar's topic in Heritage Marques
there simply is not much of any maker's v6's that come in less than 25k msrp these days. the g8v6 is not that expensive. -
yuck. some want to spend big bucks to visibly display that have a CR subscription
-
i've liked this impala and the prior one, but i am not big on the current one's interior. the v8 option is nice, but the impalas never got the HF v6 which is sad.

just to get a hybrid entry to say they have it. exactly the type of thing the japanese did and still do. t-100, tundra, now the full size tundra. start out with something, just to get in the market, and then over time it competes better. now when the next gen aura hybrid with two mode comes out, they can say its their second gen hybrid instead of saying its completely new.

hey, we build engines in mexico, and in return a whole bunch cross the border and they end up working fast food, hanging drywall, a bunch of things our teenage kids won't do these days. We do get something out of mexico. Can't say that about japan.
