  1. See, FOGM, you are a smart guy. And really, how is driving an H3 any different than say, a trailblazer, grand cherokee, commander, explorer, etc. I know folks with pathfinders, xterras, etc. People are still stuck on the hummer stigma. But I doubt the H3 gets any worse mpg than say, a new tundra or sequoia. I guess if someone ripped me for driving an H3 i would tell them to GFT and stop driving their Avalanches or Trailblazers or Durangos or 4runners too.
  2. i really liked sitting in the H3 at the auto show. I guess the outward viz would be an issue. plus all H3 are 4wd, right? it's just so coooooool......it's like a jeep wrangler that's not so wussy. FWIW, i drive about 30-35 miles a day. Edmunds owner reviews are all over the map on real mpg. fuel economy.gov shows an avg of 16 mpg for the 2007 auto and 19 for the 06 manual. BTW, I like the magnum, except for its cheap interior and claustrophobia.
  3. so, if I was to consider an H3 as my next daily driver, would that be absurd? consider this, they are leasing cheap right now. and they have utility. mpg is better than say, a tahoe and not really that much worse than an SRX or acadia or edge or explorer or something. I would be looking at a base model H3 with a stick. I'd really like a stick again. No doubt I would bear wrath from a couple coworkers, who despise cars and SUV's in particular, and such. Screw them I say. I'll run over their little MAAAZZZZZZdahs. Isn't an H3 just a tarted up trailblazer with greater off road capability? they aren't too big, and they really look cool, and its a GM product. After getting stuck in the miserable RAV4 rental last week, i really feel like i need to look at something very 'anti-toyota'. anyone else ever think about looking into an H3? I still almost never see them on the roads.
  4. yup. thanks. re: the rice look....it is bordering on it but at least it doesn't have the 'aircraft aluminum' wing from 'Mills Fleet Farm' tacked on the trunk lid. Most exotic supercars have a sort of piecemeal look to them, very rice, and this kind of starts to lean that way. The ZED 0 6 was classy. This borders on outrageous. I guess it has to have bling on it for beach strip cruising, in order to sell. So, with all the focus on green cars, i suppose GM will get hammered for developing a 600hp, 200mph supercar when we all should be driving Yaris. Or something like that. I am waiting for that article.
  5. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22332983/ finally, something denotes progress in helping automakers have a uniform standard to adhere to!
  6. i am really wondering why they didn't put better seats in this thing.
  7. the night rod is one of my favorites as well........
  8. OMG i suppose it doesn't have 'flash to pass', either.....
  9. THE SUPERDUTY is a category killer, and provides capability for truck buyers almost not seen before. However, its not a real mainstream product for metrosexuals in California, which is the only crowd Motor Trend writes to these days. I don't think the Super Duty Launch has been a debacle like the Tundra however.
  10. i am talking practical cargo space. Height is a component of that. But i can fit tons of crap in my trunk that i could not get in the rav's cargo area without having to resort to folding the seat down, because its width and depth are tiny. Like most cute utes. Anyways, the 36 cf is a useless stat in this instance if the floor area i can put somehting in is not big.
  11. unfortunately, reliability is not a factor in that judging, at least not numerically. They see the hoyotha badge and subjectively uprate every other catagory based on the 'reputation'. MT comes off as even more ridiculous now.
  12. well i suppose that -is- true. although these days there are plenty of newer uglier hondas and toyotas and other vehicles on the market that make the tek seem fairly mainstream. i don't dispute that the buell is a well engineered motorcycle. It's just that if i ever got into motorcycling again after 20 plus years, the bike i get is gonna be sexy. whether its that triumph, or a v rod, or a new concours, or a victory. the unique features of the buell to me are what makes it look a bit clumsy. the huge brake disc, the tall motor, the tank frame etc.
  13. WHICH ONE????? is there a new toyota echo on the horizon?
  14. this morning it was down again. i am willing to chip in, as a reference, GMI is never down, and their ads, while occassionally annoying, must contribute to their zero down time status.
  15. the buell is quite possibly the ugliest sport bike on the market and that includes hondas and suzukis. so that's pretty much where i am at with that.
  16. with ducatis and bmw's and triumphs and all the sweet rice bikes out there, there is nothing appealing about a buell that would inspire me to ride one. If i did ride one and like it i would give it its due as far as being capable, but if i wanted a harley i would just cut to the chase and get a vrod and be done with it. i don't read up a lot on bikes these days but what i do read, it doesn't give me the impression that it is class leading, and i don't hear that from my motorcycle riding buddies either. If the buells were top in class i would suspect that knowledge would be more common. 'sure, it's no ducati'. you said it yourself.
  17. dont forget the g6 coupe
  18. when does the tiguan come out? my passat buddy keeps telling me about it. sounds like its nicer than an RDX for about 10-15 grand cheaper. my sister is not real hip on car culture although she did move out to CA and would likely get ridiculed for domestic, despite that she has had only 2 cars in the last 19 years. a beretta and a blazer. i'm sure it would be social suicide to get a chevy, although BIL has a neat ranger.
  19. ohhh, i love triumphs. Harleys are fine enough and i love VRods but nobody take buells seriously.
  20. gag me with a buell. ick. do people still make jokes about those things?
  21. my sister is shopping cute utes right now. she wanted to drop 25k on a Hyundai friggin tucson. OMG! the craziness! well, i made sure i badmouthed the RAV4 to her. i looked at an equinox sport on the lot this morning. fun looking vehicle. i will try to steer her to an XL7 i think. Carbiz, does that thing move out nicely with the v6? Cheap price, big warranty. GM guts, and utility.
  22. very blingy
  23. i think if you get 28+ mpg in a compact, you can justify it as a purchase. Problem is, many of the cars like the G6 and Fusion, with base level trims don't require much more to purchase than a similarly equipped cobalt. Add a few options, yeah it changes, but something like the SV edition G6 is a really inexpensive car that will be nearly as efficient as the cobalt and will be roomier and more functional. Damn G6 should be offered in a stick tho. I wish I could get a G6 sedan with the 3.6hf and stick and a sunroof, power windows, locks, cruise, and a decent sounding speakers and i would be a happy pup.
  24. a buddy had a duck, and then an Aprilia. Italian bikes are two wheeled sex. you're allowed.
