  1. yup. this breaks the floodgates open for hummer. think the frames on this thing will crumple and snap like those fj cruisers? warning to GM, i see far too much aztek in the slope of that rear hatch and the shape of the side windows. i would actually make the rear a little more upright.
  2. gm pushrods do tend to get good highway mpg. i was lucky to get 29.6 mpg out of my 500 on part of the return leg back from kc this fall.
  3. don't mention the frame cracking to her then...... this thing looks lots better than the RDX honda
  4. OMG i just about spit my drink out, and i wasn't drinking anything...LOL
  5. uptight well to do indignant chicks and wussified significant others of said chicks

  7. sorry about your mishap. i know it bites first hand. lots of enthusiasts love to rap on electronic stability abs and awd etc. but truth is they all help bail us out from time to time.
  8. i'm only at 1500 and they are bumping me to 3k, i think they want to sell cars! congrats on the car!
  9. 'the car for porn kings' looks like honda civic ricer body parts have made their way over to cadillac. yet, i think i like it. those seats are incredible looking. is that a sheepskin steering wheel? How come we don't have seats like this in the corvette? i suppose this thing has pushrods.
  10. i have to admit, i do like these photos a lot more than any of the previous ones. point is, i agree. we have a 5 series hyundai with a 380hp dohc motor, like its nothing. and GM's northstar caddies and pontiacs don't seem to be as ......ambitious. I think this could be a paradigm changer. it takes its biggest shot at lexus, infiniti and BMW actually and to a lesser extent a car like this probably renders buick as silly and useless, if its good in the flesh. UNLESS THEY BRING THE CHINESE PARK AVENUE ZETA HERE.
  11. exactly. and yes, it is a saturn vue in drag. if Cad could longer lower wider this thing and get rid of some cliches, then maybe. edit ok, seeing the profile now, its much better. the profile is actually attractive. like the interior! the silver color theme is a nice change to the popular thing lately. they need to embellish the armrest, window switche area though.
  12. encouraging but they still need to exercise out a lot of blandness and typical CUV cliche's and inject some more unique saab styling elements into it. the dash is somewhat interesting but also paradoxically seems like a 90's wraparound style dash (or jet dash, take your pick). The popular dashes today are more vertically stacked and 'podlike'. look a lot better than that joke cadillac provoq. The blandness of this image makes me wonder if this is a rebadge of some other forthcoming product. in the end, this is nice but i am not sure it stands out enough to make big market impact. it might get lost in the flood of crossovers. that saab areo-x (sonnett) now that concept had style. edit I saw the profile on the provoq and now I like it better.
  13. it has the vue's narrow front and proportions. I can't believe caddy is gonna make a vue. suicide. dumb as heck name
  14. hot FOREIGN wifey. but yeah, ban-g that.
  15. there is only a few ways to lighten a truck. weaker frame is one. If you reduce the size of the vehicle too, but the size of this class of vehicle is defined. You can use high strength steel, but it costs more. You can take weight out of the engine and driveline and suspension, but you are risking toughness and durability issues. Vehicle electrics and crash equipment you need and its tough to reduce that. Explain to me how something wussy like an Audi Q7 or a VW Toureg weighs so much, considering how small and useless they are and they aren't even tough guy trucks.
  16. and then they would not be trucks. what is hard to get about that?
  17. big bottom.......big bottom.........talk about mud flaps my girl's got em
  18. sure, we could talk about the spears daughters instead if you like

  20. vue already has 4 cylinder BAS hybrid. Um, so if you want 4 cyl and cheap get that. i could see the benefit to a cobalt or astra hybrid. but i don't think anyone will pay 2 mode prices for them. and again, BAS may be a better option there. really if the camry and altima hybrids are out there, there's not much reason to go smaller. those two cars get tremendous mpg and at least then you can justify the purchase price vs. size of car you get. i know i could enjoy an altima hybrid. maybe part of the reason the vue is so heavy is it was designed to accept all this hybrid paraphernalia. just as a side note. i was at the nissan dealer saturday and they had a buttload of cars in the showroom, many with their hoods open. If you want to see where the Asians love to trim things to the bone, take a look at stuff under the hood. brackets, mounts, fasteners, accessories. There's no forgiveness there. some of the stuff i saw were metal pieces so thin and not one iota bigger than it needed to be to assemble the car. efficient? well, until it breaks from stress or abuse or something. But the Vue you can at least tell has some heft in its parts in spots. think of the vue as the hybrid crossover for the thrifty greenie that can't afford the rx lexus. Vue 2 mode hybrid may simply be the test bed for the same parts in the lambda etc.
