correction. the sonatas lower center stack was as you see in the photo above. metal like trim. looks disproportionately too tall though. -
WHAT WOULD CARL-PETER THINK
-
my asko washer and dryer are made in sweden. although next time, it will be bosch. i have a bosch dishwasher and double oven, although I am not sure where they were made. My DCS range top I think is US made. My Philips plasma, not sure but at least its Philips, not Sony. I do have some samsung cell phones, but even motorola farms out most cell phones now. My sherwood newcastle brand audio equipment most pieces are great britain and paradigm speakers are US / Canada I think. Where are craftsman / sears tools made? varies I suppose. My couch i bought last Jan (2200 bucks) was made in California i think (prob with illegals I suppose but who knows). My Apple TV is likely made in a third world, which bugs me. Carbiz, your fridge may not be shot. Your compressor may not be shot. My buddy had his fridge go out a few months ago. HE CALLED ME on the phone to bitch about what he paid to fix it. The compressor was NOT bad, it is some electronic brain / part that plus labor may be like 300 bucks CA to fix. Or, like my buddy says, find out the part, buy one or two and keep it on hand and do it yourself. I wish i remembered what the name of the part is. I don't think its a fuse. Maybe a controller or something. I have a separate fridge and freezer, whirlpool brand. Just checked. MADE IN CANADA! they are experts in cold so i guess it makes sense.!

NY 2008 Preview: Production Pontiac ST pickup to appear
regfootball replied to Intrepidation's topic in General Motors
a fuel efficient truck that's fun to drive? Yeah, if it had an import badge on it the press would laud it. the FE on this will be better than the canyon and SSR and full sizers, etc. it will be better than most SUV's. So in a time where fuel economy is the deal, this truck could very well be viewed in that regard. It could resonate very well with a market that wants a truck, but gets car mpg. Can you imagine 25 highway mpg with v8 power, pulling a jet ski or hauling some bikes? Or some tools and stuff? -

my dad had an elcamino when i was young. it was fun. neighbor has an SSR. it was fun. Some folk like fun sporty pickups. GM will sell enough of these to people that want to haul motocross bikes or an ATV or pull a jet ski with. $h!, this is the type of vehicle they buy just to use as pace cars and stuff. there really is no reason for them to not do this. anyone pissing and moaning about this is basically just a sour curmudgeon. Did anyone ever stop to think that perhaps this is called a Pontiac G8 (just like the car) so that MAYBE it won't need to be certified for sale separately then (basically saving them a lot of the money to have to do that)? Which also leads me to think that the wagon has GOT to be here at some point. I will be upset if we just get the truck and not the wagon. -
most test numbers i have seen for the hoehy have been in the 19-22 range. HY-HOE

i just do not get what his deal is. it didn't work here. no one read GMS. cell phones are not a bad line of work. the solstice ain't cheap to fix. pink shirts are so yesterday. If I were Dr. Phil, i'd sit him down and say, 'look Josh, it's not working out, just give up on the website thing' and tell him to devote his time to ceramics, or yoga or something.

we all seem to forget. it's ok for audi to sell 8,000 A3's a year, and hurrah for that. So i see no reason why GM can't commit to only maybe 10k of these. -
camry or tahoe hybrid, same mpg. but its still demonic to drive the tahoe. can't decide if it's because it's an SUV or if it's because it's not a toyota.

HONDA AND DRIVER...ER...CAR AND DRIVER MIDSIZE TEST Mar 08

i do not think the sonata had nav. i could seriously make the case for sonata now over accord and camry because of the interior redo, until you get to the center stack area below the radio. it looks very disproportionate and strange. i see the intent in the design, they just needed to fill the area with something besides a wood look panel. -edit- in the magazine the area below the radio to the shifter is all woodgrain. this picture sure makes it look ok, and looks nicer maybe than the accord and hahmrlee -

the malibu was within 100 pounds of the rest of them there is also a test in the same issue of the accord couple manual v6. they rip on the interior some. personally, the new accord coupe has the same aesthetic as a new tundra. it oinks when you walk by. honda should at least fix the ass ugly grille on the accords. -
and...their kitties........ LL in LL bean is a nice abbreviation.....LL, what DOES that mean? xterra

this, we can agree on, 100% -
Ford and GM are doing which what was sorely needed. Making their operations global. With that, selling vehicles worldwide, means designing and building all over. Which is the same thing all the other companies are doing. That said, Ford and GM are still American based companies. Their primary interest is to operate as an American company. To remain in business, they must be global and operate as such. But I want them both to succeed. All the cars that are bought sold and serviced here are a large part of our economic strength. Plus now we get some extra benefit from selling over seas. If FOrd and GM go out of business then, we are still blowing tons of money on our cars, but it does not benefit an American company in the same way or the AMerican economy. It would give the outsiders the incentive to pull out of here and start running plants and jobs in India, CHina, Korea. The design and engineering and management and marketing would follow eventually too (what little they do here). The US just becomes a big walmart store selling cars. Ship em in from china and throw them on the shelves. Send the money back on the boat. People who do not think this is bad, I am not sure I want to share space in the US with them. I am about free fair trade if there is no trade deficit and the health of our companies and position in their world markets are secure. And so, if that means a little cheaper interior plastic in some cases, and its the type of car i want, good. If an American company just doesn't fill what i need, then I do not have an issue beying foreign make, I just do not want to reward unfair companies like Toyota. Ones who obviously exploit things with malice. Like the 23 month, 29 day temp workers and such.

HONDA AND DRIVER...ER...CAR AND DRIVER MIDSIZE TEST Mar 08
regfootball replied to regfootball's topic in Chevrolet
the altimas plastic is an improvement but its door and seat fabric is nasty bad. plus, its all very monotone dreadful and dreary. this ain't 1994 anymore. the nissans do well in test numbers lately due to the CVT, but that is wide open droning engine testing. In this test I would have expected the CVT to help mileage more than it did. the altima reminds me of the last gen bonneville in terms of style. somewhat overdone and gaudy. they certainly could have waited with this test to get the 6 speed on the bu. GM needs to go on a huge camry offensive. kick toyota in the nuts. recognize that honda is still a good product that the honda faithful will not really depart from. but i think they can really build off the mo and start to eat at the camry. those of you who have seen the 09 sonata's interior (which, yeah why did they let them test an 09?) will have to comment. That is one nasty looking center stack. -

G6 coupe is nicer to look at than both. -
we sure are optimists? ford and chrysler could be damn close. it does matter. they shut down then the foreign companies gobble up the market share and assets and that is one more industry we do not compete in. yet we blow all this money as consumers and our companies being shut down means mailing our incomes over to other countries. our country's products need to be legit, and people should reward good products, however, the problem is that no one is even considering maintaining the health of AMerican based companies. They think it has no factor on the world stage.

HONDA AND DRIVER...ER...CAR AND DRIVER MIDSIZE TEST Mar 08
regfootball replied to regfootball's topic in Chevrolet
fusion gets new just about everything in 09. they liked the chevy but for some reason went altima at number 2. i will have to go back and reread. their praise for the honda was consistent with their track record and was filled with man love about the car just like their man love for the 3 series. truth be told, i would at least test drive the accord, but the interior and exterior styling drive me away from the car big time. Honda blew it with styling on this car. Now with the C/D test pretty much everyone has compared the midsizers. The Malibu has done well, now lets see whether folks actually buy the car. -
well, bless the fact that you are still part of our culture. Heal up and tell us about it when you are feeling ok. Sorry to hear of this and let's all hope and pray for a good recovery.
